Yarra's Adventure Notes-Chapter 1307 - 93 The Inescapable Kyle
Chapter 1307: Chapter 93 The Inescapable Kyle
"What kind of reward is this, all shrouded in mystery," Pannis found Flare’s reaction very odd. In his memory, Her Majesty the Queen should never respond to his words this way. Yet, in truth, the Queen’s reaction was the best possible scenario for him, so he could only respond with inexplicable bewilderment, "And now you want me to close my eyes? Don’t tell me you’ve also picked up on Catherine’s schemes."
"Hm?" Flare was taken aback, asking meaningfully, "What does this have to do with Catherine? Could it be that the little girl has done something? Oh~~, I think I understand now. Hehe, no wonder you ran faster than a wind leopard."
"Cough cough, you’ve understood nothing," Pannis coughed a few times with an embarrassed expression, pretending not to care as he asked, "What exactly is the reward you want to give me, and why must I close my eyes?"
"You’ll know soon enough," insisted Flare uncompromisingly, "Hurry up, close your eyes, and stretch out your hand."
Skeptical, Pannis glanced at Flare but eventually did as she suggested, closing his eyes and extending both hands. However, after a crisp snap sound, his right hand was slapped down by the Queen, leaving only his left hand raised in front of him. Subsequently, a rustling noise emanated from around Flare, her soft delicate hands occasionally touching Pannis’s hand, and her body moving closer and farther away from him at times, close enough that he could almost feel Flare’s hair teasingly brushing against his face, intoxicating his skin with a tickling sensation, resembling that of plant-like fragrance.
Memories that lay dormant deep in his mind began to awaken. The familiar way they interacted allowed Pannis to relax gradually, patiently waiting with his eyes closed. But suddenly, as if something dawned on him, his muscles tensed sharply, and he abruptly opened his eyes, retracting his outstretched hand hastily.
"Have you guessed it now? But it’s too late," upon opening his eyes, Pannis saw a pair of smiling eyes. A thud of clashing auras came from his hastily retracted hand. As fellow demigods, the Queen’s power was not much weaker than Pannis’s. His hurried action failed to free his left hand from the Queen’s grasp, but the Queen only persisted for a few seconds before releasing Pannis’s arm with a smile, placing her dainty right hand in Pannis’s broad palm, and said with a sly smile, "Hehe, it seems you’ve realized too late, Kyle."
If one were to rewind the time by a few dozen seconds, they would see all of Flare’s actions. After Pannis closed his eyes and extended his hand, the Queen bit her fingertip and blinked, tilting her head and revealing a shy smile akin to a maiden’s. After two or three seconds of mental preparation, Flare suddenly pinched off a lock of her green hair near her temple with a swift motion. The soft hair fell down her fingers gracefully, gently waving in the breeze. Holding up a few strands of hair, the Queen playfully brushed them against Pannis’s face repeatedly before turning serious and holding the hair in front of her, closing her eyes to silently chant a certain prayer.
As the last silent prayer concluded, a strange brilliance shot out from Flare’s green eyes. Grasping Pannis’s left wrist firmly with her left hand, the strands of hair at the tips of her right hand seemed to spring to life, swiftly climbing and coiling up along the tip of Pannis’s ring finger. At the same time, as an understanding dawned on him, Pannis began to strenuously withdraw his hand, but after failing to do so twice, the hair was already wrapped several times around the base of his ring finger, firmly anchored on his finger. Having done all this, Flare released Pannis’s wrist, and he also stopped his effort. However, the transformation did not cease. The hair wound around his ring finger suddenly flashed with a green glow, transforming into a cluster of green light points which followed his skin into his finger, leaving no trace on the surface to be seen.
"Have you truly considered the consequences of doing this?" Knowing he could no longer change anything, Pannis stopped his futile struggles, revealing a face filled with complex emotions. He opened his left hand and held it before his eyes, looking at the back of his hand that seemed unchanged. He chuckled bitterly and said, "When I came in, I should’ve noticed. What are you hiding behind your back?"
"Hehe." Her Majesty the Queen laughed like a little girl who had succeeded in her prank, tilted her body slightly, and revealed what had been hidden behind her back. On the ground made of gravel and sand, a delicate tree branch was planted, not merely inserted but fused with the ground, as if it had grown there in a place where growth seemed impossible. Each tender leaf on the branch radiated with vigorous vitality. Flare, with a faint blush on her cheeks, feigned innocence and said, "I just thought the environment here was a bit too desolate, so I inserted a tree branch to beautify it, that’s all."
"How foolish does an elf have to be to think of breaking off a branch from their own Companion Tree to beautify the environment? So this was your true purpose for hurrying over here. You were prepared all along, even bringing the tree branch as a medium." Pannis sighed and said helplessly, "It seems that what your mother said before wasn’t an exaggeration at all; you’ve already carved my name onto your Companion Tree."
"Hehe, of course I did." Flare casually pulled out the tree branch that was planted in the ground and pressed it against her chest. The emerald green branch quickly melded into her body, leaving only a tree branch-shaped mark on the skin of her shoulder. The Queen touched the skin on her shoulder and said with a smile, "How could we proceed to this step if I didn’t engrave your name?"
"Is this really okay for you?" Pannis rubbed his ring finger and said with a bitter smile, "Besides, isn’t the ceremony reciprocal? When did you get my hair to perform the ceremony on yourself?"
"Kyle, you’re still the same, so smart yet always seem so dull when it comes to crucial matters." Flare wagged her finger in front of Pannis and giggled, "After all these years, you could be cautious and guarded against anyone, but you’ve never been on your guard around Nellie and me, am I right? Hehe, so, taking a few strands of your hair was the easiest thing in the world for me."
"I should’ve known, from the moment of your inexplicable arrival, I should’ve been wary." Pannis slapped the back of his hand firmly and said through clenched teeth, "The Life Sharing Ceremony, a rite a demigod elf can only use once in a lifetime, you’ve used it so hastily. Don’t you think you’re being foolish?"
"Of course not." Flare said proudly, "I think this is the smartest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Hehe, Kyle, now there’s no escaping for you." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
