You're Strong But Now You're Mine-Chapter 57: Trick the Younger Sister into Getting in the Car
Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Trick the Younger Sister into Getting in the Car
On the way home, Le Yu stared at the two envelopes in his hand, sinking into deep thought.
Before he left, Yin Yinyin handed Le Yu an envelope. Le Yu had thought that White Night was finally handing out salaries, but when he took a look, he found a train ticket inside, stamped by the Governor’s Office.
Then Le Yu also took out an envelope from his pocket. Inside was another train ticket—this was the one Lan Yan had promised him earlier as payment, so Le Yu had been sent by Lan Yan to watch the city gate.
He realized he had apparently forgotten to mention this to Yin Yinyin.
Yin Yinyin said she didn’t care, whether he wanted the ticket or not was up to him—either way, White Night was never going to offer any other reward.
When asked if Qian Yuya had changed her mind, Le Yu said he still hadn’t figured out how to handle his feather-brained little sister, but suddenly thought of a genius idea, "If my plan works and Star Engraving County is recaptured, my sister would be totally safe staying here—she wouldn’t necessarily need to go to Yanjing to study!"
Then he got a flick on the forehead from An Qian.
Le Yu couldn’t figure out exactly what kind of Combat Technique An Qian was training to get her fingers that tough—his forehead was swollen from the flick, and no amount of soft, bouncy face wash would fix it.
"No matter how broke you are, never skimp on education, and don’t let your child suffer too much,"
"My whole life I’ve regretted missing the Royal Academy’s entrance exam just because I had a stomachache and missed my train,"
"A life without making it to Emperor Yanjing isn’t complete,"
"If you go to the Royal Academy, you’ll save yourself at least ten years of struggle,"
The Thousand-Person-Busters in the basement all used their own bitter pasts to urge Le Yu to make his sister apply to the Royal Academy. When it came to educational discrimination, no one remembered it more painfully than them. They were all people at the thousand-enemy level, the cream of the crop among the people of Huiyao, but because of their backgrounds, the treatment they got was worlds apart.
People like Qi Shihao and An Qian, graduates of the Royal Academy, had it smooth all the way—jumping straight to higher ranks while they were still young. If they joined the army, at minimum they were field officers, and while climbing higher depended on luck, their life’s worst-case scenario was still pretty great.
And the others weren’t so lucky. Take Wang Zongdao, who graduated from a regular national college in the Jinhui District. After joining the Henghui Army, he finally made lieutenant but immediately got sidelined. In the messy faction fights, he ended up a pawn on the losing side and got sent off to be Blue Zihao Noble’s lackey. He finally snapped and did something big before running away.
"Even though everyone’s stories were different, education was always either a huge help or a huge roadblock in their lives," so when Le Yu said something so ’unambitious,’ of course they, as elders, had to offer some advice.
The most important thing was, the Royal Academy had lots of White Night people. That meant if you wanted to study the most orthodox, the most advanced, the most comprehensive White Night political program, you really did have to go to the Royal Academy to learn it.
So confirmed—Royal Academy (×), Anti-Royal Academy (√).
Of course, there was one thing they hadn’t said out loud, but Le Yu could hear between the lines, "No matter if they’re successful or not, Star Engraving County is a battlefield from all sides. Staying here is always dangerous."
Going to Yanjing left you with hope for the future.
Le Yu kept thinking all this over as he made it to his door, opened it, and, naturally, found the place pitch black—the living room’s glowing lamp ran out of power after just three hours again.
After walking all that way, Le Yu still hadn’t figured out a way to convince Qian Yuya to go to Yanjing. He started to wonder if maybe he should just tie her up and throw her on the train instead. After all, it was a one-way ticket; once on board, the train locked up and no one could get off. That actually sounded pretty genius.
"But maybe that’s not so good..."
"Wait a sec—why isn’t it good?"
As he kept thinking, Le Yu suddenly noticed he felt a little annoyed.
"Why did everyone always want him to send his sister to the safest place—to the best university, to get the best education and prospects? And even if that was fine, the damn sister was being stubborn about it, making him rack his brain like some kind of obsessive brother."
"He actually wanted to go check out Yanjing himself!"
"He didn’t want to stay in Star Engraving County and squabble with Kui Zhao and Lan Yan every day either!"
"He wanted to sit on the train, eat hotpot, sing songs, and see what college life was like in this world too!"
"Just because I’m wearing the Qian Yuliu vest, did you really think I was your big brother?"
"I’m just a passing Transmigrator, not some charity case!"
With all that running through his mind, Le Yu’s anger shot up. He stomped over to his sister’s bedroom door, raised his fist, and knocked hard. Thud! Thud! Thud!
"Forget all that fancy crap!"
"Smack an envelope right in her face!"
"Take the ticket—go to Yanjing!"
"Don’t go? ’Don’t go’ isn’t an option—grown-ups get choices, but kids never do!"
"If the tiger never roared, you really thought I was a pushover? Time to show some big brother authority!"
"I’m in charge of the Qian family—who supports, who opposes?"
Just as Le Yu’s inner anger meter maxed out and he was ready to go nuclear, Qian Yuya opened the door with her lamp in hand. She rubbed her eyes and, all sleepy and soft-voiced, murmured, "...Mmm?"
The second he heard that cute nasal sound, Le Yu’s anger meter dropped by half. When he looked at Qian Yuya’s face, it zeroed out completely. Pale yellow dress, fluffy long hair, a delicate face fresh as a lotus under the warm lamplight—it made her look even more enchanting. That sleepy little face screamed naive innocence.
Only then did Le Yu realize why, in his previous life, he and his own sister were so different. "They both stole money for snacks, but his sister just acted cute and his dad let her off. He begged and got a double-length beating with a feather duster—what the hell, do pretty people always get away with stuff? That’s so unfair!"
Even though he thought so, the hand he’d raised to throw the envelope somehow came down on its own accord, and his voice softened, "Here, take this."
Qian Yuya looked at Le Yu, puzzled, took the envelope and went back to her room. She set down her lamp, opened the envelope, pulled out the ticket—and her face changed instantly.
At that scene, Le Yu’s anger meter revived a bit—he readied a dozen or so ’Head of Household’ speeches in his mind. The second Qian Yuya pushed back, he’d flatten her with pure momentum!
’It’s all for your own good,’ ’Would I ever hurt you?’ ’Who do you think I’m doing all this for?’ ’If you don’t go, just forget I’m your brother’... Le Yu recalled every classic Dad phrase from his past life, certain these would break Qian Yuya’s defenses in one blow.
"Dealing with a little sister, don’t bother with plans, just charge in headfirst!"
Just as Le Yu was about to go off, Qian Yuya opened a second envelope and pulled out another train ticket.
Huh?
Le Yu blinked and realized he’d handed both envelopes over.
This...
With a swish, Le Yu stood dumbstruck as a warm, soft-bodied girl hugged him tight. His whole body froze. He didn’t dare move a muscle.
"Big bro, so you finally made up your mind!?" Qian Yuya hugged Le Yu tight, eyes brimming with tears, her face full of hope as she looked up at him. "We’re leaving Star Engraving County together and starting a new life in Yanjing, right?"
"Uh... I guess...?"
"That’s great, that’s great." Qian Yuya stepped back, wiped away her tears, calmed herself, then gave a little smile and gazed at Le Yu all affectionate again before coming back for another hug.
"I knew it. I’d never give up on you—and you’d never abandon me."
"Shit...," Le Yu knew Qian Yuya had misunderstood, but he really couldn’t bring himself to clear up the misunderstanding.
"Anyway, at least he’d tricked Qian Yuya into getting on the train. He could figure out how to cover his tracks later."
"Wait—he didn’t really have much to do anymore. There was nothing in White Night’s city retake plan that needed him directly. Theoretically, once he’d checked out the security situation for the Saint’s Relic, he could ask Lan Yan for a break and run off with his sister to goof around!"
"Heaven never completely cuts off your options!"
...
...
"Hey, Brother Qian, don’t be mad. The Director must have taken a lot of heat from the Governor to protect us,"
"Getting demoted to this place wasn’t really up to him—probably the Governor just lost his temper for a moment. Important people are always busy and forgetful. In a few days, he’ll have forgotten us, and the Director will call us back soon."
"This place isn’t so bad anyway. It smells kind of strong, but at least nothing ever happens. Brother Qian, you’ve got tons of free time for cards!"
"Brother Qian, here, some iced honey Five-Flower Tea."
Le Yu took the Five-Flower Tea that Chen Fu offered, gulped down a huge mouthful. That cool, refreshing liquid sliding down seemed to wash away the gloominess in his heart.
He turned and glanced at the factory sign behind him,
"Star Engraving County Designated Slaughterhouse."freёwebnoѵel.com
