Our Family Has Fallen
Chapter 1005 - 565: Rebuilding Trust
"Just this?" Lance seemed quite leisurely, reluctant to part with Grendel, but he wasn’t so courteous to Amanda.
After it was over, the emotions bottled up inside Lance dissipated quite a bit. Not hearing any sound, he turned his head to look at Amanda beside him.
Her whole body went limp, unresponsive, her pupils dilated as if she was in a daze. If not for her heavy breathing, one might think she had passed away.
"Have you calmed down now?" Lance granted her a recovery with Bless, just to teach her a lesson.
"Hah!" Amanda took a deep breath, as if coming back to life, her vacant eyes refocused, and her limbs began to move slightly, finally breaking free from that state.
Compared to before when she merely fought alongside Lance, now she truly experienced Lance’s wild power. The repeated surges nearly shattered her reason.
Without saying a word, she willingly drew closer, leaning against him, her posture so honest, lacking any of the earlier arrogance and wildness.
Lance did not resist, instead he reached out to comfort her.
"Did Tamara ever climb into your bed?" Amanda suddenly looked up at Lance, her first words nearly catching Lance off guard.
"Isn’t this topic a bit...?" Lance’s expression showed he was almost overwhelmed.
"Just tell me if she did or not!" Amanda persisted, shifting her whole body over like a mountain leaning, applying intense pressure as she interrogated.
"It’s just friendly exchange among everyone."
"Heavy burden" pressed on Lance, he could only respond, and upon hearing this, Amanda immediately displayed a "just as expected" expression.
"I said, why would Tamara, a fugitive, receive Elder’s support and return to the organization? Isn’t it because she climbed into your bed? That bitch! Little tart..."
Lance looked at her with some resentment, muttering grievances, realizing she hadn’t let go of what happened back then.
But the organization’s actions were indeed extraordinary; she, as someone who pursued Tamara, was abandoned due to failing the mission, while Tamara received Elder’s support to return. It’s hard for anyone to bear, no wonder she chose to leave the organization in favor of Lance.
Lance had no intention of speaking more about this, knowing jumping in would be suicidal.
However, after Amanda’s rant, she laughed, her gaze landing on Lance’s face as she reached out to touch it.
"But if it weren’t for Tamara, how would I have stayed? She used you and left, now enjoying herself within the organization, but it’s me who risks everything by staying by your side..."
Amanda’s words clearly aimed to step over Tamara and elevate herself, but what kind of person is Lance? PUA him, what a joke? Clearly, he wasn’t buying her act.
However, Lance wasn’t going to slap her in the face, he could only remain silent along with her words.
Obviously, Amanda didn’t intend to let him off, seeing he didn’t respond, she reached out, her fingertips sliding over Lance’s firm chest, asking in a coquettish tone:
"Is that little tart better, or am I?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
For Lance, Amanda’s inexplicable desire to win seemed abstract, somewhat akin to an animal marking territory, asserting dominance.
Saying who is better would lead to endless entanglement, and he’s not one to fall into such traps, so he immediately refuted.
"Firstly, people aren’t objects, there’s no comparability, comparing like this is belittling yourself.
Secondly, everyone is unique and irreplaceable, similarly, you are also unique to me."
While speaking, Lance lifted his hand to stroke Amanda’s long hair gently as comfort.
Obviously, Amanda was very satisfied with this answer, a triumphant smile appeared on her face.
"Does this mean I’m one of you now?"
Lance thought she should be straightforward now, but unexpectedly, she threw another probe.
If responding casually with a definite answer, fear is stepping into her trap.
Therefore, upon hearing this, Lance’s face suddenly changed, even pushing her away as he sat up.
"What do you mean by this question? Do you think our relationship is established by this? Or do you think I, as Lord, need to win you all over by this method?
There are no shortages of women in my team, and I never force them to do such things. Instead, I highly respect them, which you should be aware of.
What unites us is interest, but what binds us together is trust, they believe in me, just as I trust them.
You can say I’m greedy and lustful, but don’t slander others."
"I didn’t mean that~" Amanda didn’t expect Lance’s reaction to be so intense, momentarily caught off guard.
"Shut up!" Lance didn’t give her face, a stern rebuke without stopping the words.
"Moreover! If I didn’t consider you one of us, would I have shared power with you? This happened before we had a relationship, not after.
Do you think I’m foolish enough to not see everything you’ve done for Hamlet? It’s not your actions but this that makes me trust you?
Is asking this fair to yourself? You’ve looked down on yourself too much, and you’ve thought too lowly of me."
"I was wrong, I didn’t mean it, don’t be angry." Amanda crawled to sit up while continuously trying to entertain the agitated Lance, her hand tugging at Lance’s arm as she shook it.
