Overlord Tamer:I Only Tame Bosses
Chapter 105 The Real Selection
For the next two days, the ceremony continued as more than six hundred candidates showcased their monsters before the Seven Academy Houses.
However, out of all those candidates, only around one hundred were selected. The rest could only leave the hall in disappointment and frustration.
At that point, only around three hundred candidates remained. And with every passing hour, the atmosphere became increasingly tense and nerve-wracking.
"Yaaawnn!" Nala let out a huge yawn while opening his mouth widely.
He was the Grandmaster of House Eboncrest. Nala wore a long green robe, while his green hair flowed messily around his shoulders.
Various insects continuously crawled all over his body, including grasshoppers, mantises, butterflies, and several strange bugs.
"You look bored, Nala." Asma commented with a smile from beside him.
She was the Vice-Grandmaster of House Seraphyne. She possessed long light-blonde hair, long eyelashes, and wore a beautiful and elegant white dress that gave her a graceful appearance.
"I think all of you already noticed it. This selection ceremony has been getting duller and duller over the years. Fewer talented tamers are being produced by our kingdom nowadays."
"None of these candidates have truly caught my interest. I honestly just want to go home and play with my insects." Nala muttered while watching a butterfly land gently on his hand.
"I disagree with that, Nala. Even though the quantity is decreasing, the overall quality is actually becoming higher every year." Milos suddenly replied calmly.
"You know how Ronald handles these ceremonies. For the past two days, we were mostly observing the moderately talented individuals. But today, he’s definitely saving the truly exceptional candidates for last." Milos continued confidently while smirking. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
He was the Grandmaster of House Celestwynn. Milos possessed a large muscular body, towering height, and a darker skin tone.
His hair was mostly black with a few strands of white visible near the sides. He wore blue warrior attire while naturally emitting an overwhelming and powerful aura.
"I really hope so. But even the Grandmasters of the top three houses are absent and only sent their Vice-Grandmasters instead. That alone should already prove they feel the same way as me." Nala continued while lazily leaning back on his chair.
The others fell silent after hearing his words. At that exact moment, the next candidate’s name was finally called out.
"Maximus Lawson!"
"Ahh! That’s me. Please pray for me, guys!" Max said nervously before quickly walking toward the platform.
Over the past two days, Oliver and Max had become acquainted with several other non-noble tamers among the candidates, along with a few from minor noble houses.
However, from that small group, only Oliver and Max had yet to undergo their selection. The others had already been accepted into various Academy Houses.
"Trample them, Centaurion!"
Max shouted as he summoned his monster. A half-human, half-horse monster suddenly appeared upon the stage. It stood around 2.5 meters tall while wielding a massive axe and radiating tremendous strength.
<Centaurion>
The monster then swung its axe powerfully, releasing a gust of wind from the sheer force of the swing.
"Rank A. Not bad!" Oliver smiled after scanning the monster with Overlord Eye.
He was genuinely impressed by Max’s monster. Back in his hometown, only Guildmaster Nolan possessed a Rank A monster.
So for someone like Max to own one as well, it clearly meant Max was also an exceptionally talented tamer.
Soon after, the selection process began. Max nervously bit his nails while staring toward the important members of the Seven Houses seated above him.
"A warrior-type monster! And quite a powerful one too. I like it. Come join my house, boy! I will teach you the path of a true warrior!" Milos suddenly declared while grinning proudly at Max.
"Ahh! Grandmaster Milos! Thank you! Thank you very much! I truly appreciate it!" Max bowed repeatedly in excitement. He was absolutely overjoyed after being selected into the very house he had originally hoped for.
Soon after, he stepped down from the platform with a huge smile on his face before high-fiving Oliver and the others.
"Congratulations, Max. You did great." Oliver said sincerely.
"Hehehe! Now you’re the last one left in our group." Max laughed while patting Oliver’s shoulder.
"Please pray for me." Oliver said with a smile.
"Don’t worry, my friend. You will definitely pass." Max replied confidently.
Honestly, Oliver did not feel even the slightest bit afraid. He firmly believed that his monsters were among the very best present in this hall.
There was no way he would fail to be selected by at least one of the Academy Houses. As for his personal preference, it was actually House Eboncrest, since it suited him perfectly due to him already possessing two insect-type monsters.
Soon, hundreds more candidates continued showcasing their monsters one after another until only around ten candidates remained.
At that moment, Oliver suddenly noticed the atmosphere within the hall beginning to change. More and more students had gathered on the upper floors, and their numbers had already reached nearly five hundred people.
Then suddenly, the Vice-Grandmasters of House Noctis and House Seraphyne immediately stood up as the true Grandmasters of their respective houses finally arrived and took their seats.
One male. One female. The moment they sat down, overwhelming pressure spread throughout the entire hall.
One aura carried an intense coldness, while the other radiated a warm and gentle presence.
Even Oliver instantly understood with just a single glance, both of them were beings far beyond his current level of strength.
And one more thing further confirmed his thoughts. Irmine’s sister, the woman who was technically his biological mother, was most likely the Grandmaster of House Mythragon.
"This is where the true selection finally begins." Auron said calmly. Right now, he was standing on the third floor together with Aria. His eyes remained completely locked onto Oliver below at the ground level.
Aria simply stayed silent beside him.
All the students within the academy already understood this tradition well. The final ten candidates in the selection ceremony were always the strongest and most talented tamers from their respective duchies.
Ronald intentionally arranged the order based on their achievements and contributions.
And the last remaining candidates, were considered the true elites among the participants.
This was the moment where the real battle of recruitment between the Grandmasters would begin.
