[STATS]
[Strength: 1,500]
[Agility: 1,500]
[Spirit: 1,500]
[Attribute Points: 2,900 (+600)]
The 600 were, of course, the unused Attribute Points he had from his last level-up. He never used it all, mainly because there was no exact reason too.
But this time, he wouldn’t be leaving anything out of the table unless absolutely necessary.
[How does Host wish to use Attribute Points?]
The system panel flashed, and he ordered,
’Distribute equally.’
[Calculating...]
[Strength: +1,166]
[Agility: +1,166]
[Spirit: +1,166]
[Remaining Attribute Points: 2]
[Does Host wish to assign remaining points?]
’One to Strength. One to Agility.’
[Assignment Complete.]
[NEW STATS]
[Strength: 2,667]
[Agility: 2,667]
[Spirit: 2,666]
[Attribute Points: 0]
A minimum of 2,600 in every stat was a number impossible for a human being, but he exactly couldn’t exactly be classified as one...not anymore.
But this was only the beginning.
He could feel that bubbling energy rising within his heart, slowly but surely surging through his entire body as the changes quietly began.
He knew that, all at once, the sensation would turn hellish for him, and for that reason, he ordered,
"Use Evolution Card!"
He had obtained an Evolution Card as a reward from fusing with the Mallory Umbrawyrio.
While White hadn’t obtained one before, something about it told him it was similar to inputting Attribute Points, except perhaps on an even grander scale..
[Evolution Cards Possessed: 1]
[-1 Evolution Card Used.]
[Evolution Cards Possessed: 0]
[Evolution will now begin.]
It said, and all at once, a cocoon of blue energy further surrounded White, covering him from view as he remained alone within the ancient hall, its grounds scribbled with runic lines.
It was a pocket space far removed from the real world, and therefore the safest place for his evolution.
If he had attempted this on Earth, entire cities would have been reduced to ashes within seconds.
But it was safe only in the sense that the world wouldn’t be destroyed by him.
Deep within the cocoon wrapped tightly around White, his body curled into an embryonic shape, there was no escape from the pain. More than a thousand points flooded into each attribute as he evolved while simultaneously undergoing fusion with an Ancient Devil Artifact.
At first, the cocoon fell absolutely silent, then it began to tremble.
Within, White’s body had become a battlefield, one where he was fighting a losing war, and the first thing to fail was his skeleton.
The bones that had once supported a mortal frame suddenly found themselves burdened by forces, they had never been designed to contain, and the pressure building inside him rose so rapidly that microscopic fractures began appearing throughout every structure in his body.
From the smallest bones in his fingers to the vertebrae of his spine, each crack immediately repaired itself before shattering apart again beneath even greater strain.
The process repeated endlessly.
...break.
Repair...
...break again.
Repair Stronger...
His skeleton was not healing but undergoing absolute replacement.
The calcium-based framework that had once belonged to a human being slowly erased and rewritten into something denser, harder, and infinitely more resilient.
Every single atom forced into new arrangements under pressures that should have reduced entire mountains to dust.
White could feel every single alteration, microscopic collapse and restructuring.
Every new layer being added to his bones while the old one was stripped away, and the pain never remained in one place because there was no single place left untouched.
It existed everywhere:
His skull.
His spine.
His ribs.
His teeth.
The joints connecting every limb, all of them screaming simultaneously.
And halfway through all that, something else started to morph:
His muscles.
Entire bundles of muscle began unraveling at the cellular level, their structures disassembling before rebuilding themselves with greater density, greater elasticity, and greater force output.
Each contraction generated pressures that rippled through his body hard enough to crack the newly formed bones, forcing them to rebuild yet again.
The cycle became self-sustaining.
His muscles broke his skeleton, and his skeleton evolved to survive his muscles.
The stronger skeleton allowed stronger muscles, and the stronger muscles demanded stronger bones.
Again, and again, and again, the process spiraled upward without pause.
White felt his shoulders widening, then a second later, his back thickening, and right after his chest compressing inward before expanding again.
Every individual fiber beneath his skin was being reforged into something capable of producing enough force to challenge celestial bodies.
The calculations buried within the knowledge he had inherited from the Mallory Umbrawyrio made the reality horrifyingly clear:
His body was evolving into something capable of rivaling the energy output of a star, and that forced the abandonment of something else.
The...
