Chapter 281: More Use In Living Than In Death

"And so, there’s the question, why exactly would someone like you need more power."

White continued, looking at what remained of the mighty Umbrawyric Queen.

To the other Umbrawyrs, she was their Queen, but White, armed with his memories, saw only a little girl consumed by a desire for vengeance.

"The Llumino Race took your father’s life in a cowardly way, and ever since then you’ve been trying to get revenge on them, or to be exact, on him: Ascano Llumino, Light King of the Llumino Race."

"A man that not even the power of the Crimsio Umbrawyrio could hope to defeat. But by fusing with the Mallory Umbrawyrio and becoming a Nyxeliothra, you may stand a better chance, except that..."

White paused as her eye shook within its sockets.

"You’ll fail."

He said, and she trembled in his grasp.

"A Nyxeliothra is not some woman of devilish power. It’s a curse of power, one with a limited lifespan."

"All Nyxeliothra in history were born from absolute necessity, when every other option had become impossible, and only for one ultimate purpose: to prevent the Umbrawyr Race from total extinction."

"Your actions in becoming a Nyxeliothra will do nothing but doom half of the Umbrawyric Race left alive to harrowing deaths."

"All of this just to avenge your father being stabbed in the back... It’s not worth it."

"Tch... mora...lity... your... flaw!"

She forced out through the gaps of her teeth.

"Call it what you want, but I know an emotional decision when I see one, and that’s exactly what your entire plan is about."

"Though the Llumino Race, I can say, will pay for their actions. They’ve been an annoying thorne on us, Umbrawyr’s side for long enough."

"For now, you will gather a thousand of the best Umbrawyric Warriors. We’re invading a world."

A flash of shock crossed her eyes.

She had expected her own death. After all, for what reason should he spare her?

She had yet to recover from the shock when White’s hand clutching her throat relaxed, and she was sent plummeting down through the Void.

She looked up at him, only for something to appear in his hand, and her eyes widened, her body instinctively leaning forward as if to grab at it.

"I’ll be taking away your Crimsio Umbrawyrio."

White said from above, flipping through the pages of the book.

"Treat that as punishment for ever entertaining the idea of ending my life."

Halfway through the Umbrawyric World, Nythera lit up like a meteor from the insane friction, the entire Umbrawyric World witnessing as she smashed into the ground, carving open an abyss while releasing a mushroom cloud of lava into the air.

Their Umbrawyric Queen...

Defeated!

FLICCCKERR!

A flicker of light drew the attention of every single Umbrawyr.

It was like a sun beckoning to them, and all eyes looked upward.

There, standing within the Void, was a silhouette that could barely be seen, but what was unmistakable was that blue crown.

A crown of thorny blue vines radiating an aura that made every single Umbrawyr in the Umbrawyric World suddenly have their horns glowing brightly with a crimson color.

"Is this... Bloodline Resonance?"

Some older Umbrawyrs could be heard murmuring in disbelief and ultimately came the realization.

"The Mallory Crown..."

"It’s the Umbrawyric King!"

After close to seven centuries of existence, the Umbrawyrs finally had a King.

The one figure rumored to be more favored by Darkness than the Queen.

A rumor that had now been proven beyond doubt.

____________

[You could have killed her if you wanted, and honestly, I think that’s the better course compared to sparing her.]

[Besides, she tried to kill you, which gives you every right to end her for good, and I don’t think one beating will stop someone like her from attempting such a thing again.]

[There’s no winning her over, White.]

"There’s not one soul in this universe that I intend to win over. All that I need by my side, I already have."

White replied, the Mallory Umbrawyrio disappearing from his hand, causing the crown to dissipate.

[So... why? Why leave her alive?]

"Let’s just say there’s more good for me in her living than in her death... for now."

He replied, turning downward and moving toward the pointed castle.

There was a lot that needed to change within this world, but ultimately, the original plan that had birthed all of this was still his top priority.

_____________

"King!"

"Call me MadWhite..."

"King MadWhite!"

"You can’t be helped, can you?"

"We’re finally done with the creation of your vision."

An older Umbrawyr who looked far more humanoid than most Umbrawyrs, though still distinguishable by his dark-scaled body, called out to White, who slowly stepped forward, donning a pitch-black robe that completely hid every part of his body from neck to feet.

It possessed a high collar that stretched up just above White’s nose, making those eyes of his incredibly piercing to behold.

The old Umbrawyr walked behind him with his staff, his excitement barely concealed.

"I have to say, seeing that the main prototype design itself came from a lower hierarchical race, I did not expect much brilliance."

"But upon undergoing its creation..."

"It’s a perfect template to enhance the movement of our race across worlds. A truly impressive creation of thought."

He praised, and it did manage to leave a quiet gleam of pride flashing through the deepest depths of White’s eyes.

As they walked through what was best described as a factory, they climbed up a ramp that brought them onto higher and higher floors, and finally stepped out into a massive blank room of white.

"Trying to create extra suspense, are we, Umbra Ludinger?"

White called to the man, who chuckled sheepishly before shouting loudly.

"Unveil It!"

Immediately, the walls of white around them dissipated like ashes, and what was revealed was an even larger area where a total of five incredulously massive objects could be seen.

"My King! I present to you... the UmWhiroJet!"

He announced grandly as all five objects emerged from their respective spaces and drifted forward, stopping about twenty meters away.

"What do you think, King MadWhite?"

Ludinger asked, and White could hear the old Umbrawyr’s heartbeat quickening as he watched him gaze at the five colossal creations.
