Chapter 1060 - 1059: The Exercise
Shorty flatly rejected his proposal, refusing to go to other planets; his actions seemed utterly unwise in the eyes of the commander.
Therefore, he decided to adopt a tough approach, regardless of whether Fatty wanted to leave or not, he was determined to send him away.
This is why he wouldn’t tolerate Shorty’s continuous struggles and forcefully dragged him away.
Jiang Cheng and Yanran followed the guide, the staff member, to the commander’s office.
"This is the place," the staff member said to them as he glanced inside: "But it seems there’s no one here right now."
Jiang Cheng and Yanran entered, and indeed, the office was empty.
Jiang Cheng and Yanran exchanged a glance, could it be that the commander and Shorty saw their subordinates could not resist them, and then...
They walked out of the office and looked up, seeing a passage leading outside.
"Where does this road lead?" Yanran asked the guide.
"Ah, this road," the staff member pointed towards the end of the passage: "It leads to the gunboat platform."
"Let’s go!" Jiang Cheng said to Yanran; he had a hunch that the commander and Shorty weren’t hiding inside the base, but chose to flee.
Yanran did not say a word; she and Jiang Cheng quickly pursued along the passage.
Sure enough, as they were about to reach the end of the passage, Shorty’s voice came from outside on the tarmac.
"Let go of me! I said I’m not leaving!"
"Tall one, don’t be stubborn anymore; if you leave now, there’s still time." This seemed to be the commander speaking to Shorty.
"We’ve tried our best, but against such a powerful enemy, we really can’t stop them. So if you stay, it’s a dead end."
The commander still hadn’t given up persuading Shorty.
"You can come back after they leave."
"And what then? Everyone on the planet will know that I was scared away by those three and even wandered on other planets?" Shorty sneered.
"By that time, who would still look up to me?"
"I’ve spent my whole life in the limelight, only to end up like this. No, I’m definitely not leaving!" Shorty firmly rejected.
"Tall one!" The commander was at a loss for words.
"You’re not bad," Shorty patted the commander’s shoulder: "You are so loyal to me, and I actually misunderstood you like that; it’s really not right."
Given Shorty’s status and his eccentric personality, saying something like this was already quite rare for him.
"I grew up here, and I do have deep feelings for this place. I originally thought that on the day I retire, I’d return here, fish and hunt birds, and enjoy my old age."
Shorty’s voice had a hint of bitterness: "Now it looks like dying here is also a pretty good choice."
The commander still wanted to say something, but suddenly he felt something, turned around hurriedly, and saw the people he least wanted to see.
At some unknown time, a pair of men and women stood not far from them, quietly watching them.
Needless to say, these two were there pursuing their superior and had destroyed their base’s four gunboats.
The commander drew a short gun from his waist, although his fingers trembled with tension, he still aimed at them.
But he didn’t have the courage to pull the trigger.
Facing the gun’s muzzle, the pair of extraterrestrial planet men and women showed no signs of tension.
Shorty reached out from behind him, gently pressing down the raised muzzle of the gun.
"Don’t act anymore," Shorty said to the commander: "The weapon in your hand can’t hurt them."
How could the commander not know this fact? Yet facing the enemy, knowing he was not their match, still, one must make a statement.
"Remarkable, you guys are truly remarkable!" Shorty said to Jiang Cheng and Yanran: "Now, you can make a move."
......
Knowing he was about to meet his death, instead, Shorty relaxed, opened his arms, and forced a smile: "Come on."
"No!" The commander rushed over from behind Shorty, opened his arms to block in front of Shorty, facing the two extraterrestrial planet people who made him terrified, his voice trembled yet he still spoke.
"If you want to kill him, then, kill me first!"
"That’s not difficult," Jiang Cheng said coldly.
With almost no movement, his figure suddenly appeared in front of the commander just as he was about to raise his hand.
Shorty promptly spoke: "It’s none of his business!"
Jiang Cheng turned his head to look at him.
Facing his cold gaze, Shorty’s legs uncontrollably started to tremble again.
If Shorty said he had no regrets, that was a lie. He didn’t know why he was so unlucky to provoke such a formidable opponent.
At the onset, he didn’t take these three people from the extraterrestrial planet seriously; as the high-up leader in Delmar, he could do anything as he pleased.
Initially, he thought eliminating these three extraterrestrial people wasn’t much harder than crushing three ants.
After all, this was his territory, and they came from outer space.
But what he didn’t expect was that these three extraterrestrial people were so ruthless, especially the man among them.
"Terrifying," "Powerful," these words could no longer aptly describe him.
This man could easily defeat them when facing the encirclement of hundreds of staff and easily destroy fighting vessels and tanks with a lift of a finger.
Why was he so stubborn? Insisting on a life-and-death battle with these three was indeed foolish.
Most importantly, it’s clear who is strong and who is weak between them.
Out of mere pride, he forced himself to contend with such adversaries; it was truly unwise.
Now it’s too late for regrets; since that’s the case, there’s nothing more to say.
"It has nothing to do with him; if you’re going to kill, kill me." Shorty always selfish, speaking like this was indeed rare; perhaps it was the so-called "For those who are about to die, their words are kind."
"Are you two putting on a show?" Jiang Cheng sneered.
"Even though I know you don’t care about me and I’m not qualified to demand anything from you, I still implore you to show mercy to my superior," the commander pleaded.
"Oh?" Ye Fen turned his head toward him: "You know what he did to us?"
Jiang Cheng said coldly: "He has repeatedly tried to harm us, I gave him opportunities, yet he paid no heed to my words."
"But you haven’t suffered any loss, have you?" The commander noticed Jiang Cheng and his group were not that unreasonable and felt a glimmer of hope.
"Killing him might relieve your anger, but it won’t substantively help the situation."
"For example, where will those disaster victims go? If you kill him, then what will happen to those Shi Min? Have you thought about that?"
"You’re from another planet and can’t stay on Delmar forever; once you kill my superior, the high-ups at the residence may seem indifferent outwardly, but once you leave, they might vent their anger on those Shi Min."
