The Novel's Draft
Chapter 62 - 142
The author didn’t bother making a draft, since the next Chapter was already being written.
"Ulna! Cloak us in wind once more!" I then turned towards Vertere, "Create pillars of ice to get us up there, now!"
If Incus is going to destroy those meteors, then she’s going to be flying around the kingdom, I can’t afford to lose clarity now, I’ll just end up like those damned souls that got caught in the crossfire!
However, Ulna nor Vertere did as I commanded.
"What are you idiots doing, I said—!"
They then pointed at something behind me.
Turning around, Incus was floating right above the demon Gratius, she was exuding static and gust of wind at the same time.
"You’d best to call off your spell, I will make sure your death is painless if you do." Incus paused for a moment before continuing, "In the event that you don’t, then you’re sorely mistaken if you think that I would expend any more magic to save some other worlders... they will just praise me for being a hero. This entire situation can be used as propaganda to pull the public opinion towards me."
Incus then began to laugh manically, her voice was beautiful but it made her laugh even more unsettling.
"Hurry up you demon! The choice is yours, will you die a ruthless death or will you die peacefully... time is ticking, pick your poison!" Incus leaned in closer to Gratius.
"You damn psychopath!" Gratius then pushed his hands together, as if there was an invisible force that was trying to stop him.
"W-Why is hero Incus doing this... why isn’t she going to save the people!" Ulna’s face grew pale, as she placed her hand on her forehead.
I placed my hand over the bottom part of my face, hiding the grin that I couldn’t resist.
"I suppose it’s time that I told you the truth." I slightly turned towards her, "It’s up to you whether you believe me or not but you should think about our actions and interactions with Incus. Wasn’t there anything strange... for example when Incus stepped out and stared at us during our training."
Ulna stepped back,
"It indeed was strange, but where are you getting at...? I don’t like the sound of this." She narrowed her eyes.
"We are in a novel." Glancing at the meteors they were shifting trajectory, solely aiming to land at Incus.
"What does that mean—!" I placed a finger over Ulna’s lips, shushing her.
"So you’ve chosen to die then." Incus then cut off the demon’s legs, and armed.
"Scales of dragon, dig into his flesh... make sure that he doesn’t heal." Incus then stomped at demon Gratius.
"Urgh... such humiliation. I’m sorry your majesty for I have failed you." Gratius mumbled.
"Here’s whats going to happen. You will stay here, forever being consumed by the scales of a dragon until your meteors fall down and kill you. By then, I would have already made my way to your leader and slain them." Incus continued to dig the demon’s head into the ground with her foot.
"I... am not the only one who will turn up and stand in your way. I am not the strongest of our legion. Be warned... my people thrive in the face of overpowering adversity!" Gratius’ voice was filled with determination.
"Then they will be nothing but extra bodies that will stain the image you demons have of being powerful." Incus kicked Gratius and began to start flying towards the inner sanctum.
I had already commanded for Vertere to draw a bridge to the other side of the moat, we couldn’t jump on the pillars which were originally placed in the moat because everything made of earth had been scavenged by Gratius during his battle.
Ulna also cloaked us in wind.
Quickly taking a glance at the window screen in the sky, it seems that we’ve entered the the middle that separates the inner and out sanctums of the kingdom. Incus had also slain demons that were up ahead.
"Sir—Ring, what do you mean that we’re in a novel? Like a story being written?" Ulna picked up her pace and was dashing after Incus next to me.
Looks like I’ve lost her respect by a tad bit, as she isn’t calling me ’sir’ anymore.
"It’s just as I said, we aren’t actually a team of secret body guards that’s been tasked to watch Incus... the only reason we chase after her is because our minds go numb if we go too far from her." Grabbing on a ledge, I pulled my self upwards to land on a roof.
Incus slayed more demons that were in the way.
After a brief pause, I continued:
"You must have noticed earlier, your mind growing weaker. That’s the consequences of straying too far from the main character of the story." The effects of the haziness of the mind wasn’t as grandiose because Gratius was also being written about.
"How come you know we’re in a novel, that should be impossible..!" Ulna helped Vertere climb over the last balcony of the tall building we were climbing.
"It’s only visible to me, but there’s a large floating piece of paper floating up in the air that shows what’s happening and going to happen." Of course it actually wasn’t a floating piece of paper, but I had to say it in a way that she would be able to understand.
Placing a hand over her lips, she pondered for a second before asking:
"Then tell me what Alleus is going to do."
"I can’t do that, we’re nothing but side characters that only had one purpose and it’s to progress the plot... I can however tell you what Incus is going to do."
Incus then then stopped by a large wall of water, dismembered limbs and the corpses were floating up and falling to the ground.
Miniature man made rivers were connected to the wall, providing it with supplements of water.
Tilting my head, looking up at the window screen, I began reading what it wrote:
"Touching the surface of the wall of water that reached the skies, Incus summoned the ’water hero’s sword’. ’Excalifront,’ said Incus... summoning swords made of ice to stop the rush of water shooting upwards. Forming a small bridge, Incus walked into the other side."
Everything that I said then came into fruition.
