"Clear!"

"Clear!"

As Ding Wei and the female officer came back to the middle of the main lobby, their faces all showed signs of disappointment.

"You all sure this is the right place?" The female officer began to question as she held a piece of paper in her hand.

"There’s no other building in the city outskirts. It’s either this place, or they have moved the central place to somewhere else." Ding Wei argued.

"But this place is just a recent small business startup. It has nothing to do with any sort of government alarm or—"

Before the female officer could finish talking, a sudden loud scream instantly caused them to panic a little.

"Shit, Jing Cha! We’re coming!"

"I’m good! It was just a rat running past me."

As the senior officer yelled back in response, the three of them all let out a small sigh of relief.

"You found anything?" Ding Wei yelled as the three of them continued heading towards where the voices came from.

"Nope. Nothing useful in this dark ass room. You guys found anything useful?" The senior officer questioned as they finally met up.

"Nope."

The four of them looked back and forth at each other as it appeared to them that the place must have been moved at some point.

"Maybe we came to the wrong place. Let’s go back out and check again."

The two of them, including the cameraman, followed the senior officer back out into the building as they headed back to the police car outside.

"Officer Jing Cha, have you found anything?" Li Zhen’s voice suddenly appeared from the senior officer’s side.

"No, sir. We’re still searching for it." The senior officer responded after picking up the radio from his side.

The transmission ended before Jing Cha could say anything more, leaving the four of them stranded at the building.

"What are we going to do? Go back to the police station?" The female officer questioned.

"What other choice do we have?" A voice from above the bodycam questioned as the camera pans over to Jing Cha.

"Ding Wei, what do you think?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

There was no response as the camera pans over to Ding Wei, only to show him staring at the roof of the building.

"Something isn’t right... That big satellite dish on the roof. What kind of small startup business has this kind of equipment in the middle of nowhere?"

"But we already searched the place. It’s just an office building with a bunch of useless paper and computers."

"A one-story office building in the city outskirts?"

As Ding Wei raised his concern, the look on Jing Cha’s face began to change as if he started to buy into the idea.

"He’s right. Something is off. But where can we possibly look at that which hasn’t already been searched in the building?"

"Maybe we missed something. We couldn’t see everything with the flashlight inside the building."

"What are we waiting for then?"

The female officer quickly entered the building, followed by the senior officer, leaving the two of them outside as Ding Wei continued to stare at the roof.

"Ding Wei, you thinking of something?"

"There’s no staircase up to the roof. No ladder to go up there either. Something about this building doesn’t add up."

"Hmm... Wait a moment, the area we searched and the building size don’t add up. The satellite positioning also seems to be leading nowhere."

As the cameraman points his finger towards the window near the edge of the building, Ding Wei immediately seems to have realized something.

"Shit, that’s exactly what we missed! Good job, Mingzheng."

The footage of the video immediately began to fast-forward as it skipped to the three of them standing in front of the wall with the cameraman.

"You sure this is the place we missed? There’s just a wall here." The female officer questioned.

"It’s the only area of the building that doesn’t add up to the outside size. No one will build a support pillar that is this long." The cameraman argued.

"You’re saying there’s a secret room behind this wall, Mingzheng?" Jing Cha questioned.

"Well, the knock sounds a little hollow," Camerman murmured as he knocked his finger on the wall.

"Move. I’m going to break this wall."

Ding Wei had a whole chair in his hand as he banged it against the wall over and over again, only to make a small scratch in the wallpaper.

"Damn, this wall is a lot tougher than I had thought." Ding Wei murmured as he threw the chair aside.

"Surely there’s a secret door of some sort behind this wall if there’s something important here. Maybe we need to look around again."

As the female officer started using the flashlight to check around the four corners of the wall, they still struggled to find anything in the dark room.

"You all stand over back at the entrance. I’m going to drive the car from the other side of the wall."

"What? You had to be out of your mind."

"I’m not asking for your permission, and I’m wasting any more time on this. Move out of my way, Ding Wei."

After Jing Cha pushed all three of them aside, they all stood by the entrance of the room with the flashlight in hand.

"You all nervous?" The female officer quietly asked.

"Nope." The cameraman murmured.

"This is the worst idea ever." Ding Wei murmured as he prepared to cover his own ears with his hand.

A few seconds later, they could all hear the car roaring louder and louder as they waited for the impact to come through.

Bang!

"Holy shit!"

The footage started to shake like crazy before going dark completely as the bodycam seemed to have dropped out of the police officer’s chest.

Only a few seconds later did light reappear.

"How the hell is the wall still standing?" The cameraman murmured as he slowly picked up the bodycam from the floor.

"No clue."

"You three! Come out! The car breached the wall from the other side!"

All three of them quickly rushed outside, only to see a car that had created a massive hole in the side of the office building.

"Give me a second, let me drive the car back out."

After waiting for a whole minute for Jing Cha to drive the car back out, the three of them could finally see what was inside the ’secret’ room.

It was a room illuminated by a single light bulb, one that had a table and a computer next to a bunch of wires and a rack full of mysterious objects connected to it.

Fortunately, they managed to break into the room without hitting anything that could have broken the important stuff inside, outside of a few rubbles.

"Ding Wei, what is the computer saying? Can you figure it out?" Jing Cha questioned as he exited the car.

"I’m trying to read it... This is some seriously outdated terminal from the Cold War."

"What does the paper say?" Jing Cha questioned as he looked over to the female officer and the cameraman on the other side.

"Some sort of government contract signed before the outbreak. Something to do with interpreting data with... space?" The cameraman answered first.

"I found a letter someone left behind! We 100% found the right place!" The female officer yelled out in excitement.

"What does it say?" All three of them questioned at the same time as they all instantly turned towards her.

"They said that this place is a space program to detect nuclear fallout, and they were forced to leave after running out of food."

Looking over to the corner, the footage shows a bunch of empty chip bags and a water bottle lying next to a small rat hole in the wall.

"They said they made sure everything could run smoothly even when they’re gone, and they said the project is in the experimental phase—"

"Does it say anything about a password?" Ding Wei interrupted as the terminal seemed to have reached a roadblock.

"Oh, yeah. The password to the machine is 52826beid."

"Thank you."

As Ding Wei turned back towards the computer, everyone could see a bunch of indistinguishable white text running through the screen.

It was just too blurry to read from the bodycam. Still, his hand was constantly pressing onto the keyboard over and over again.

"You found anything useful?" Jing Cha impatiently questioned again as he couldn’t understand any of the complicated text on the screen.

"I’m looking for the alarm option."

"The alarm option should be on the 9th page, option 4." The female officer murmured as she adjusted her flashlight on the letter.

"Could have told me that from the beginning."

After waiting for a few more seconds, the footage suddenly turned dead silent. The siren in the distance disappeared completely.

"We did it?"

The cameraman’s comment was soon met with an official answer as Jing Cha’s radio suddenly turned on again.

"Good job, Jing Cha, you guys managed to turn off the alarm... Do you know what the hell the alarms were for?"

"For some sort of nuclear detection, sir."

"Nuclear detection? Like in our country?" Li Zhen questioned.

"I don’t know, sir... Ding Wei, do you know anything about how the nuclear detection works?"

Jing Cha asked as he covered the radio speaker with his hand. Looking over to Ding Wei, he was busy looking through the computer terminal.
