With her father-in-law around, Old Madam Lei would still restrain herself, but with him gone, Mother Lei didn't even dare to think about how low this woman might go. Now she could only hope that Bai Meiyue would be able to save the life of her father-in-law; if not, Lei Qian would be ruined by these people!

Bai Meiyue felt an itch in her nose; however, she held herself back from sneezing. She looked at Old Master Lei's injuries with a calm expression and handed Shen Zhen the blood revitalising pill and said, "I will stop the bleeding, and once it's stopped, you need to feed him this pill. It should help him in recovering."

Shen Zhen looked at the blood-red pill between Bai Meiyue's fingers and nodded. She took the pill from her and stepped aside to let Bai Meiyue have a free rein.

With a flick of her fingers, Bai Meiyue summoned the acupuncture needles that she usually carried with her after learning the traditional medicine and took out three gold needles, which she used to stop the bleeding.

Shen Zhen and the rest were in awe of her swift and precise actions, but what made them even more surprised was how quickly the bleeding stopped. It was no wonder that their teachers often remarked that the amalgamation of Western and traditional medicine could help the medical field reach greater heights.

However, they never took it seriously because, as much as they respected the traditional medicine practitioners, they still believed that western medicine was the only stairway to newer heights.

Who would have thought that they didn't even know the true worth of traditional medicine and were too pompous?

Bai Meiyue stepped aside after she was done handling the situation and said to Shen Zhen, "You all can continue with the surgery. I will remove the needles when it's over."

Though it didn't look like Bai Meiyue did much, she felt really tired, as it was her first time treating a person. The precision and rapt attention without letting her fingers move even an inch caused great strain to her hands, eyes and mind. She heaved a sigh behind her mask and sat down in a corner without bothering Shen Zhen and the rest of the doctors and nurses.

Shen Zhen glanced at Bai Meiyue while working on Old Master Lei's injuries. She noticed that Bai Meiyue didn't seem too worried and was rather calm; maybe it was because she was confident in her own skills that she would be able to save Old Master Lei if something went wrong, or maybe she trusted them enough to leave Old Master Lei in their care.

Either way, it was rather nice to see someone trust them enough not to mess up.

Usually, the family members of the patients would often make a ruckus, treating the doctors and nurses as some vindictive villains who didn't know what they were doing.

Seeing the trust that Bai Meiyue had in them, the doctors and nurses started working even harder.

With everyone working together, it took them less than three hours to finish the suturing and cleaning of the wound.

Once everyone was done, Bai Meiyue pulled the needles and threw them in a small bowl of sanitiser.

"Yueyue, what happened?"

When Bai Meiyue stepped outside with the rest of the doctors, Lei Qian rushed forward and held her by her waist. When he saw how pale Bai Meiyue looked, he couldn't help but feel guilty. It was all his fault; Bai Meiyue was so weak and tender; she was only eighteen, and he asked her to do such a difficult task.

"Fine." Bai Meiyue had no intention of relying on Lei Qian, but she couldn't push the man away. So she could only walk along with him and sit down on a metal chair.

"What do you mean by 'fine?" Old Madam Lei asked suspiciously. Her triangular eyes were narrowed as she looked at Lei Qian and Bai Meiyue before saying to them, "I am telling you that I am not easy to fool."

"I never thought that it would take much anyway," Bai Meiyue muttered under her breath.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing." Bai Meiyue raised her head and looked at the old woman who was looking at her with a scowl on her face. "I said that Old Master Lei is doing well; he should be awake by the evening." When Bai Meiyue noticed the dissatisfaction in Old Madam Lei's eyes, she curled up her lips and stated, "But you don't seem happy about it, Old Madam."

When Old Madam Lei heard her words, she was startled to the point that she couldn't even change the expression on her face.

Lei Qian and the rest of the Lei Family turned to look at Old Madam Lei, and when they saw the look of dissatisfaction in her eyes, they couldn't help but frown. Lei Qian understood what was going on in the mind of his grandmother.

"Grandmother, since you are tired, you should go upstairs and rest," Lei Qian spoke to her through gritted teeth. He was worried that if he left this woman alone, then she might harm his grandfather.

He knew the selfishness of his grandmother and the second branch of the Lei family. Thus, Lei Qian knew that leaving these people around his grandfather was no less than letting a bunch of beasts prey on his grandfather's body.

Old Madam Lei wanted to say something, but she was stopped by Lei Wu, who shook his head and didn't let her speak. He could see that Lei Qian was quite dissatisfied with them at the moment. Lei Wu was worried that if his grandmother rushed to fight with Lei Qian, they would be kicked out of this place.

He was also quite upset with Old Lady Lei. Why did she have to show her expressions on her face? Even if she was upset that Old Master Lei survived this ordeal, they had more than one way to kill him. There was no reason to rush.
