Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 136: Paradise Medicine
Chapter 136: Paradise Medicine
For the first time in a month, a five-year-old boy finally ate something he could swallow well.
Most of the time, his meals consisted of basic supplies like dried goods—essential foods that were difficult for him to eat.
Despite everything, the boy never got angry; he accepted whatever his mother offered him.
However, no matter how much care his mother provided, he still caught a virus that made him cough hard, causing his chubby cheeks to become thin.
Now, he was truly enjoying the free food from the store, eating happily while looking at Lydia with gratitude.
The treats were just simple sandwiches, but they made the child see the shop in a new light.
"Hello! Thank you for the food!" he exclaimed.
Lydia simply smiled, appreciating the boy’s good manners.
But she couldn’t offer any more, as they were running a business, not a charity.
Meanwhile, the woman read the rules of the Paradise shop.
First, customers must always obey the rules set by the shop.
Second, you can’t make demands. You should accept what we offer, but you can request items. As long as we have them, we can negotiate.
Third, don’t try to scam us. We know if an item is legitimate or not. If we find out you’re trying to cheat us, we will ban you for life.
There are many rules, but the main point is honesty in trading for both parties.
There was also an exchange rate.
"For jades: Normal grade = 100 points, Middle grade = 500 points, and High grade = 1,000 points," she murmured, worried that her jades might not be enough.
"For antiques, the value depends on how long they’ve been around and their quality."
It noted that customers have to spend all the points in one go, as this shop is special and appears spontaneously, making it hard to predict when the next stop will be.
Prices were also displayed on the wall, or you could check them on the available tablet.
The woman was taken aback; this shop still seemed to have electricity.
She quickly exchanged her jades, and afterward, Lydia sent them to space, allowing Elena to gauge their authenticity and grade with the help of the Golden Tablet.
"We have received two higher-grade jades and one medium grade, totaling 2,500 points. Please choose the items you want to exchange."
"Really? Can I exchange them for medicine?"
"Yes, just search the tablet for the available supplies."
The woman nodded and checked to see if there were any medicines available for her child. She nearly shouted when she saw the wide variety of medicines on offer.
She used a third of her points to exchange for cough medicine, then selected essential supplies like bottled water, canned goods and dried foods, and finally, her child’s needs, such as powdered milk and cookies.
For a mother like her, her little one was everything; without him, there would be no point in living in this cruel world.
"Miss, I have already chosen the items I need," she said, listing her selections.
"Alright, let me pack them discreetly," Lydia replied, understanding that if others knew what she had bought, she might become a target.
"Thank you!"
Butler Aki packed the supplies and quickly handed them to the woman, who kept expressing her gratitude at every turn.
She was about to leave, holding her little boy happily, when she heard a voice calling her back.
"Miss, may I ask why you called me?" the woman asked, bewildered.
"Your son has been coughing non-stop, right?" Elena inquired, looking at the boy with a familiarity.
She couldn’t understand where this feeling come from.
"Yes," the woman replied, worry etched on her face.
"If you trust me, use this medicine. It’s different; it can cure your son’s cough," Elena suggested.
The woman hesitated, afraid that an unknown product might worsen her son’s illness. But seeing Elena’s steady and calm demeanor, she agreed.
"Alright, I’ll try it."
Elena then handed her a bottle labeled ’Paradise Medicine.’
The woman thanked Elena, and the little boy looked up at her with gratitude.
"Thank you, sister," he said, waving and smiling as they left the unit.
Elena stared intently, trying to remember the boy from her past life, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t recall anything.
’Well, we might meet again.’
She was lost in thought when Ethan interrupted her. "Wife? Is something wrong?"
"Nothing, come on. We might be busy soon."
Ethan didn’t press further and returned to his position as the monitor.
Afterward, their first transaction was a success.
The moment the woman stepped outside, she was surrounded by residents asking if the shop was legitimate.
"It’s real. Just be honest; otherwise, you’ll regret it," she said, carrying her child back to their unit.
Some residents began entering the shop, but others remained wary, waiting for more results.
Soon, a group of residents left happily, clutching their supplies tightly.
"It’s true! You can exchange jades and antiques, and as long as you follow the rules, you’ll be fine!" a middle-aged woman exclaimed, thrilled that she could finally eat meat.
"What did you buy? It looks like you buy a lot! Should I help you carry it?" someone offered.
"No, I can handle it myself," the woman replied, wary of his intentions.
"Why are you so defensive? I just want to help. You’re being so judgmental."
"Enough!!! As long as you have items to exchange, they’re happy to accommodate everyone," another woman informed.
"Yeah, why are you still hesitating? Go and exchange now, or you’ll regret it once they leave. And make sure to read the rules carefully."
The residents were confused, and someone asked, "Why?"
The others explained the rules, causing panic to spread: the shop might leave soon, so they had to exchange now.
"Oh no, why didn’t you tell me sooner? Now I have to find my jades as quickly as possible."
"Grandma, let’s also exchange your antique."
Soon, the residents in Building C were buzzing with activity as they gathered their jades and antiques.
