Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Henry and Lucy’s Mistake

’It is indeed a sh*tty day! No!’

In the end, Henry led Adriana to a nearby cafe and spent the entire day before dropping her home.

Once Adriana left, Henry’s face darkened.

He gritted his teeth and said in a low voice,

"Adeline...just wait and see how I will deal with you!"

With that, he took out his phone and called his sister,

"Lucy, meet me at the intersection. We have to deal with some things."

"Okay, brother," Lucy replied.

...................

Henry and Lucy walked into the hospital, both wearing caps and masks to cover their faces. Henry had his hands in his pockets, eyes sharp and full of anger.

Lucy walked beside him, chewing gum loudly and holding her phone like she didn’t care about anything.

They knew the room number—Room 306.

Henry checked the hallway. It was quiet. He nodded at Lucy, and together they walked to the door.

Henry pushed it open slowly. Inside, the room was dim. A figure was lying on the hospital bed, facing the wall.

A thick blanket covered most of the body—even the head.

Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Is that her?" she whispered.

"Has to be," Henry said, lips curling in a smirk. "Let’s wake her up."

Lucy cracked her knuckles and marched over. Without any warning, she kicked the bottom of the bed hard.

BANG!

"Wake up, old lady!" Lucy snapped. "Stop pretending to sleep!"

The figure didn’t move.

Lucy kicked the bed again. "I said wake up! Call your daughter—Adeline! Tell her to come here right now!"

Still no movement.

Henry walked over, calm but cold. He leaned a little closer, just enough to see if the figure was breathing.

"She’s alive," he muttered. "Just acting like she’s asleep."

Lucy rolled her eyes and stepped forward, her voice getting meaner.

"Listen, Hazel. You better stop playing dead and do as we say! If you don’t call Adeline here, I’ll call your husband instead."

She leaned in close and whispered harshly,

"Let’s see what he does to you when he finds out you’re keeping secrets from him. He’ll beat you, won’t he?"

Henry raised a hand to stop Lucy for a moment. He spoke softly, voice smooth and fake-gentle.

"Mrs. Hazel," he said in a sweet tone. "I’m not here to hurt you. I just want to talk to Adeline. That’s all."

He smiled like he was trying to be nice.

"I heard she wants to file a complaint against me. That’s not fair, right? I didn’t do anything wrong. I just want her to drop it. That’s all."

He paused, then added, "And maybe... compensate me a little. Ten thousand dollars should be enough. If she does that, I’ll walk away. I won’t bother anyone again."

The figure on the bed still didn’t move.

Henry frowned. Lucy’s patience snapped.

She shouted,

"Are you deaf?! He’s trying to be nice! If you don’t call Adeline here right now, I swear I’ll shake this whole bed until your bones crack!"

She grabbed the metal rail on the side of the bed and started shaking it roughly.

CLANG CLANG CLANG!

"Call her now!" Lucy screamed. "And tell her to bring cash! Or I’ll make your life worse than you ever imagined!"

Just then, the figure on the bed moved.

Henry and Lucy both froze.

The blanket slowly slipped down, and a big, burly man sat up. His thick arms were like tree trunks, and his face was rough with a scruffy beard. He squinted at them angrily.

"Who the hell kicked my bed?" the man growled in a deep voice.

Henry’s mouth dropped open. His heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t Hazel!

Lucy blinked, then quickly pointed at Henry and said without shame, "He did."

Henry turned to her in shock. "Lucy?!"

The burly man stood up, towering over both of them. His eyes were sharp, and his voice was full of anger.

"You kicked my bed?" he asked, glaring right at Henry.

Henry raised his hands quickly.

"W-wait! I’m sorry, sir! I didn’t know it was you! We—we thought someone else was here!"

The man stepped closer. "You think that’s an excuse to kick people’s beds? To yell at them? To threaten them?"

Before Henry could answer, the man swung his fist.

WHAM!

It hit Henry right in the jaw, sending him stumbling backward.

"Ow! Sir, please—!" Henry cried, trying to block the next punch.

But the burly man didn’t stop.

WHACK!

Henry bent over, holding his stomach.

He looked at Lucy, hoping she’d help him—but she just took a step back, pretending like she didn’t know him.

The man grabbed Henry by the collar.

"You two walk into a hospital room, start yelling, threatening a patient named Hazel, and asking for money? Are you crazy?!"

Henry gasped,

"W-we didn’t mean to! We thought this was Hazel’s room! We’re really sorry! Honest!"

"You thought it was okay to threaten a sick woman? In a hospital?!" the man shouted, shaking him.

Henry whimpered, "I didn’t know! I didn’t know she wasn’t here! I swear, sir, it was a mistake!"

The burly man shoved him back. "You got some nerve, showing up like this, asking for ten thousand dollars and acting like bullies. You think people won’t stand up to you just because you whisper and smile fake?"

Henry collapsed onto a chair, groaning in pain.

"I’m sorry... I was wrong..."

Lucy, seeing her brother get beaten up, finally spoke.

"Alright, alright! We get it! It was a mistake! Can we just go now?"

The man pointed at the door.

"Yeah, you better go. And you better pray the real Hazel doesn’t hear about this. Or next time, I won’t stop at a few punches."

Henry limped to his feet, rubbing his face and breathing hard.

"Come on, Lucy," he muttered.

Lucy gave the burly man a quick nod and followed Henry out.

Once they were out in the hallway, Henry glared at her.

"You pointed at me!"

"Sorry, brother."

"Leave...we should just go to Adeline’s home first!" He announced with a dark face.
