Chapter 231: Tense Confrontation

Jules’ pov

"That arrogant omega finally died?! Such wonderful news! It was long overdue!" Landon’s shrill voice pierced through the tense atmosphere and I instantly stiffened, eyes widening in outrage as I watched as Landon and his followers approached the front of the preys dormitory.

He was dressed like he was going to a party, and I felt anger bloom within me as our eyes locked.

I had a massive headache within me right now, after crying so much and also having to write a statement, I wanted nothing more than to get lost in Blaze’s arms. Blaze wasn’t here right now, because I saw how tense everyone was. I suggested he leave this place for now and he agreed without arguments, urging me to call him whenever I needed him or if I sensed I was in danger.

Landon began to walk towards me since everyone was currently facing me, seeing as I was the center of attention right now because I was the one who discovered he was dead.

"Did you kill your roommate? Not that you have it in you to kill anyway. That’s why you’re no match for Blaze, you’re not alike in any way." He spat out and I let out a long sigh as I began to massage my forehead with my fingers.

"Get lost if you have nothing better to do." I breathed out after a while and Landon scoffed before crackling out a laugh.

"And why the hell would I do that? When I’m literally here to party. I’m here to celebrate the death of that lowlife omega who thinks he’s so much better than everyone. Guess who’s gonna wake up tomorrow morning? Certainly not him!" He crackled at his own twisted joke and with an irritated sigh, I got to my feet and leveled him with a cold stare.

"You’re such a fucking loser." I hurled at him and anger quickly replaced the amusement across his face. I noticed a few gasps move through the crowd of omegas and betas gathered around, which was probably because none of them was bold enough to talk back to Landon like this.

"I think the loser here is Nick and it’s a great thing he’s dead. You’re a loser as well, Incase you’re wondering." He sneered, his followers instantly agreeing with him and I scoffed with a bewildered shake of my head.

"Get lost, Landon. We won’t be indulging your tantrum here." I hurled back at him with a hand pointed in the direction he arrived from.

"Who wants to be indulged anyway? I just came here to celebrate his death."

His words made my skin crawl and it made me silently wonder within myself how someone as innocent looking as him can be this vile on the inside.

I pointed my hand in the same direction again. "Just... please go, you’re not welcomed or needed here."

As soon as I was done, I turned away from him, heading back to the seat I just vacated. After taking two steps, a firm grip in my shirt made me halt.

"How dare you think you can give me orders to leave? Do you know who my father is?!" His shrill voice instantly worsened my headache, automatically tripling the anger within me. When I spun around, I wrenched his hand off me and shoved him in the chest, causing him to stumble.

"Don’t put your fucking hands on me ever again, and I can fucking give you orders if I want. Can your father stand before my mate without cowering? I don’t fucking think so!" My voice sharply rang through the atmosphere, the thoughts spilling past my lips before I could stop it.

I’ve never used the power blaze wielded like this before.

Landon spluttered, his mouth opening and closing for a few moments and I let out another scoff before pointing in the same direction once again.

"Get lost, Landon."

I turned away after that, not wanting for a response. My heart pounded all the way back to my seat, this was a part of me that I’ve never tapped into before. I wasn’t sure of what triggered it, perhaps it was because of how he was literally celebrating the death of an omega who suffered throughout his stay in this cursed school.

When I sank back into the spot, Kim, who had his head down this whole time, flashed me a small, grateful smile.

"Thanks for handling him... I didn’t know you could get fierce like that." His voice was raspy because he kept breaking down every now and then whenever no one was present to see. I reached for his hand and squeezed on it with a small shrug and a shy smile.

I didn’t know I could do that either. freewebnøvel.coɱ

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I asked Kim as we rode the elevator in the special students building together. He gave a firm nod of his head before sighing and shoving his hands into his pockets.

He suggested we go confront Malachi about Nick’s death, and we were currently heading to his apartment for said confrontation.

Kim said he wants to give Nick justice and he told me he’d try his very best in that aspect. I instantly told him I’d work with him on that, because even though I never got to know and understand Nick, I still felt like I needed to bring him justice.

After Nick’s body was moved out, when I was asked to write a statement, a few adults supervised the statement and basically told me the exact things to write down. When I told them they were basically asking me to write something else entirely, they all gave me funny looks and asked me if I was new year.

Kim told me they were gonna make Nick’s murder appear like a little accident in the kitchen, or frame it as suicide, then they’d send money to his grandmother to keep her silent. It was messed up and fucked up, but apparently there was nothing anyone could do about that since this technique has been working for over a decade.

When the elevator doors slid open, Kim squared his face and walked down the hallway, with me walking beside him and also trying to exude the same amount of confidence as him, although that was hard to do since I was still scared shitless of Malachi after that one traumatic encounter with him.

Kim stopped before a door and rang the bell. I tensed up beside him, holding my breath.

After about two minutes, the door swung open with a low, vibrating sound, and as soon as it opened, a dark scent hit me right in the face like fumes, crawling over my skin and trying to creep into my lungs.

Malachi wasn’t the one standing at the door right now, it was a tall omega with a collar around his throat, one identical to the one I’ve seen around Nick’s throat before and I exhaled and averted my gaze from the boy’s neck.

The boy had a sneer on when our eyes locked.

"What do you want?" He spat out and Kim scoffed before reaching forward and grasping the boy’s collar, jerking him forward with it and the omega gasped as his breath got cut off, hands instantly flying up.

"I’m in a bad fucking mood, Cyrus. Where the fuck is your owner?" Kim’s voice was low and chilling as he growled into the boy’s face.

"Right here." A deep voice vibrated from the dark hallway of the opened apartment and I instantly stiffened, a spine rolling down my spine as Malachi suddenly sped forward till he was standing at the doorway.

"Why are you dirtying my toy up with your filthy hands?" Malachi drawled in a bored tone just as Kim released the omega who dropped to the ground, sucking in deep breaths.

Malachi offered a hand to the omega and ushered him in once he was on his feet, and then his gaze returned back to Kim. He stared at me the next moment, his red eyes dragging over every inch of my body and I got filled with the urge to cover my body.

"You murderer! How dare you murder him??" Kim went straight to the point, not bothering to hold anything back.

Kim continued to go off at the unbothered looking vampire and once he was done speaking, he was breathing hard.

"Well, that was entertaining... and annoying, I’d rather be balls deep in one of my toys." As he spoke, his eyes panned towards me and bile filled my guts.

"I didn’t kill him. I just... sucked all his blood up because I couldn’t help myself, y’know how it is. He was my favorite toy, his resistance was always a turn on, so I was unable to stop." He spoke like that made the murder and rape justified. The absolute nerve.

Kim told him he didn’t care about all of that, then he went ahead to reveal that he wanted Malachi to own up to his crimes on his own will before he gets forced to bring in bigger forces into this situation.

Malachi didn’t even seem fazed by the clear threat, if anything, he appeared more bored, and that made my heartbeat sped up because his gaze locked with mine in that moment.

As a smile tugged at the side of his lips, the urge to turn around and flee consumed me.
