Chapter 246: The Dream

Jules’ pov

Low sounds filtered through my mind, weaving through my brain until I was blinking my eyes open. At first, I thought they were all a figment of my imagination but when the low sounds continued to echo around, I rolled out of the bed I had been sleeping in and carefully made my way out of the room. As I got closer to the door, the voices grew louder and familiar, and slowly, I froze in a single spot, unable to move as shock and confusion engulfed every part of my brain.

My hands shook when I pushed the door open and at once, the breath got knocked out of me when I sighted two of my siblings bickering.

My entire body shook and my lips wobbled.

"D- dew?" I whispered, disbelief clogging my lungs and i watched with bated breath as he stopped arguing and turned around. As soon as his eyes locked with mine, a smile stretched across his face. He was in front of me the next moment, hands reaching up to ruffle my hair like he normally does.

"Hey, little brother, still short as ever." He cooed and on a normal day, that would have made me angry. But right now, warmth shot through my veins as I burst into tears and flew into his waiting arms. I clung to him as I cried and he shushed me while consoling me.

"I missed you so much." I whispered as he kept on trying to get me to stop crying.

I had missed Dew so much, way more than I ever could have imagined. He was the fourth born of our family, and the one directly before our only sister, Anya.

As he gently tugged me out of his arms, a sad smile was across his face as he ruffled my hair once again and this time, I leaned into the touch while my heart ached.

"Labyrinth?" My oldest brother’s voice filtered through my mind and as I slowly turned around, a sob bubbled in my throat.

I wasn’t that close to my first three eldest brothers because they were really grown by the time I was born, so we didn’t play silly games or wreck havoc together like I did with Dew and Anya, but they cared for me regardless of that and loved me as a sibling. I could remember them always being extremely protective of me and particularly babying me throughout my teenage years because unlike them, I was vertically challenged. Although that angered me back then that they all saw me as a child, right now, there was nothing I wanted like their fussing and overprotectiveness over me.

"You said you’d always protect me... you all did." I whispered as my eyes shifted from Ezra, our eldest brother, to Dave, my second eldest brother and towards Caden, my third eldest brother. Pain flashed across their faces almost at the same time right before they began to apologize to me for failing me.

I flew into their arms and clung to them tightly, desperately wishing I’d never be able to let go of them. As they held me and patted my back soothingly, I felt consumed with love from all of them at the same time.

When they all dropped their hands and stepped away from me to stand beside Dew, I stared at them in confusion while my heart raced, but when I followed their line of sight, I realized why they did it.

It was because my best friend and immediate elder sister, Anya, was slowly approaching me. She was in a long flowing white robe that was identical to the rest of my siblings’, and when she stopped before me, her flawless face crumbled at the same time as mine and then we were hugging and crying in each other’s arms. I desperately cried for her to never leave me again, having her arms around me right now felt right and perfect; it filled me with so much love and strength. She had always believed In me and had been the only person I could confide in and completely bare my soul to. Being forced to keep on living on this earth was the greatest torture one could ever grant me.

She held my face in her palms, eyes warm and sincere. "I’m so proud of you, Byrinth. We all are. You survived and you conquered. You’ve achieved so much without even realizing it, and after tonight, you’re going to achieve so much more." As she spoke, she tried laughing but tears rolled down her cheeks. I shook my head vehemently while my heart ached.

"No, I don’t want to keep on living without you all. I miss you all, please come back to me."

She slowly shook her head as I spoke and my sobs intensified, and then we were hugging once again.

"Baby?" The familiar voice made me stiffen and I slowly pulled out of Anya’s hug. When I glanced sideways, I noticed my mother approaching. I raced towards her at once, right into her outstretched arms.

"My little labyrinth." She whispered, stroking my hair softly and kissing my head.

I begged for all of them to not leave me again and when she began to shake her head, I began to desperately cry again till she was calling my name firmly, a note of seriousness in her voice and just like old times, I stiffened.

"We might not be with you physically but we’d always be with you in your heart no matter what, okay?" She began, wiping my tears away and I sniffed and nodded, hands trembling as I clutched on her robe.

"You have a lovely mate, child. A really powerful one. He is fit to protect you, more than we all could." She continued and I blinked slowly. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"You and your mate are... destined to be together, which is why all forces to keep you apart have been fruitless. You’re both destined mates because you both have a prophecy binding your souls together." As she spoke, my eyes widened.

"A p- prophecy?"

"Yes, child. I should have told you about it sooner but I was waiting for you to come of age." She explained and I felt myself grow tense.

"What’s the prophecy about?" I whispered.

"You’re destined to defeat the seven gods of the underworld, and it is your destiny to become the ruler of our clan which is currently being ruled by your evil uncle. It is your destiny to stop the world from being ended by the greedy gods, and it is your destiny to bring balance to the world once again." As she spoke, confusion consumed me.

"But, mama –"

She shook her head. "Do not let self doubt eat at you, child. You’re not meant to do all that alone, your mate is going to be with you every step of the way. It is your destiny to achieve all of that together. However, one of you might end up dying in the process."

"What?" I whispered, suddenly feeling dizzy.

"But fates can be changed. With love, anything can be possible." She explained, and before I could ask any questions, she motioned to my siblings and they gathered around us.

"I locked your powers away to keep you safe, because that was what the seven gods were after, because that is the key they needed to accomplish their depraved goals. But it is time for your full powers to be set free. It is your destiny to wield all seven magic abilities under the magic of light, for you are the chosen one of the goddess of light, and that special one is meant to control every ability related to the light."

As she spoke, I glanced around, feeling shocked and confused as they all began to lay a hand on my shoulder.

My mouth opened to say something, but my mother was pressing a palm against my chest, and the hands which my four siblings had on my shoulders began to glow, engulfing me in heat. My mother moved her fingers and began a chant charged with so much energy.

I didn’t remember what happened after that but soon, everything was whitening around me till I lost consciousness.
