Carnivals: Claimed By The Deranged Alpha Prince [BL]-Chapter 285: up the mountains
Chapter 285: up the mountains
Jules pov
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.
I was nervous, and it wasn’t because I was scared he was gonna spit fire at me with the intent of burning me alive.
I was more scared because of the fact that he might not be able to recognize me like he hadn’t been able to after he finished dealing with our fathers. Thinking about that was enough to make my heart ache every time. That was the reason for half of the nightmares I had since
our lives returned back to a semblance of normality.
It was hard to wrap my head around the fact that he has been mourning me this whole time. A part of me acknowledged the fact that this just means he had meant pretty much affected by my absence like I had been completely broken ever since because of his absence in my life.
We were currently heading up the mountains, and I was trying to remind myself to not overthink any of this.
I couldn’t wait to get him back, that one was beyond certain. I said a silent prayer within myself that I hope he’s not as broken as me. He was the reason I was alive right now, because I had been falling into that void right before he caught me after transforming.
Kim threw me a glance, and he waited until I caught up with him.
"You okay?" He asked slowly and I let out a small hum along with a nod. My tongue felt too heavy in my mouth and I wasn’t sure of how my voice would sound if I attempted to speak now.
Kim offered me a warm smile and an understanding look. He threw his hand around my shoulders and squeezed in silent support.
"It’s all gonna be alright, okay? I’M sure we’ll leave here with him returning back with us."
I desperately hoped for that to be true.
Because if it doesn’t end up being true, then it means I wasn’t sure I’d be leaving this island either.
I wasn’t sure of a lot of things in my life, but I was certain that I wouldn’t be leaving here without my mate with me.

We had been working for about twenty minutes. The mountain was very rocky and filled with so many jagged rocks. Raina wasn’t bothering walking, she was flying alongside us. I’d have carried the rest of us by air With the help of my magic, that’s a skill I’ve perfected at this point. However, I felt very unstable right now so I refrained from doing that so I don’t end up dropping either Roy or Kim over the Rocky Mountains.
We kept walking forward, and Raina kept giving me a list of things to do and not do, and I cursed myself out on realizing that I had zoned out for the third time.
"You’re to go into his lair, but keep about ten inches of gap between you two no matter what. You can only shorten the distance once you’re certain he has remembered you." She lists off as we kept on going up the mountain. The sun was high in the air and I was starting to get hot.
"Don’t touch anything in his lair, and don’t touch him except when he touches you first. Remember that he doesn’t recognize anyone, keep in mind that he might not end up recognizing you after all of this." She paused this time to give me a long look.
I swallowed emptily, stomach twisting with bitter dread. He needed to recognize me today no matter what!
"If... if he doesn’t end up recognizing me today, what’s he gonna do to me?" I asked and Raina glanced away.
"In all honesty, he might hurt you."
He might kill you.
That’s what she actually meant, we all knew that.
I exhaled slowly and gave a jerky nod, while calming my racing heart. I knew what I was about to do was risky, I understood all the risks. But it’s a risk I’m ready to take no matter what the end result may be. Apart from the fact that I wanted to get my mate back, I was also doing this to prevent him from getting executed next week when Raina’s uncle is planning to storm the mountains with his men. And since I didn’t know how strong Raina’s uncle was, I wasn’t willing to take any chances, which was why I had instantly agreed to do this. freewebnøvel.com
We kept on walking till a dark grown vibrated through the entire mountain, shaking up everywhere. Everyone’s eyes instantly widened as they grew stiff. Kim even managed to lose his footing.
Raina turned around as she spoke.
"That’s him. He must have detected our scents. This means we can’t go any further. Only Labyrinth can go the rest of the way."
"That sounded really scary. Are you sure it’s okay for him to go alone?" Roy asked tentatively. Roy might be a friend of Blaze, but in the six months he spent watching me break down here and there, he had grown quite fond and protective of me.
"I can go with him." He suggested and Raina shook her head firmly. "If you do, you’ll be burnt to ashes. Only labyrinth can go further."
Roy wanted to argue again but I assured them all that I’d be fine, even though I was extremely nervous on the inside.
I bid them goodbye, listened to a few more warnings from raina, and then I began to walk forward.
No warning growls came, and I took that as a good sigh, realizing that Raina had been right when she said Blaze wouldn’t mind if I came the rest of the way.
However, I was still beyond nervous. In all honesty, I wasn’t sure of what to actually expect.
But, I guess I’m gonna be finding out soon, no?
I kept walking forward till I came in front of a clearing, more like a large open space. At the far end of the clearing was a bunch of rocks put together like some sort of cave, which was really large in sight.
That must be the lair.
I thought within myself as I began to walk towards it, and I didn’t stop till I was at the entrance.
"Alright, here goes nothing."
