Chapter 44: The Morning After

Jules’ pov

When I blinked my eyes open, the first thing that registered with me, was that I was actually alive.

I didn’t died over night like I had been feared. I had actually survived the night!

The second thought that registered with me, was that a large hand was wrapped around my waist, and in the next moment, I stiffened and sucked in a deep breath as the entire encounter from last night rushed into my mind.

I glanced down at the arm around my waist, heart stuttering in my chest at how large his hand looked down there.

I still found it hard to believe that Blaze hadn’t done anything to me. I found it very hard to believe that I had actually survived the night.

He hadn’t done a thing to me like I had feared... well, aside the small bite he gave me last night before I fell asleep.

His grip was still tight and when I tentatively tried moving around so I could carefully ease out of the grip, a growl vibrating against my back, causing me to instantly stiffened as a squeak flew out my mouth.

My eyes widened in shock and dread, because I assumed he was still asleep, but it seemed like I had thought wrong.

In the next moment, I was being tugged even tighter against the hard chest, causing me to squeal as my heart flew into my throat.

Just like last night, I felt his nose glide over my exposed throat and the curve of my shoulder.

Heat flooded my face because I didn’t understand why he kept doing that, coupled with the fact that unlike last night whereby everywhere had been dark, this was daytime, and sunlight was pouring into the room through the window.

An unexpected bite in the same spot he had bitten me last night caused a whine to bubble past my throat, and when a hot tongue laved over the sore spot, a felt myself letting out a whimper as my stomach tightened and released only to tighten once again, while my heart pounded against my ribs.

A flush settled in my face, and mortification engulfed me in the next moment. frёeωebɳovel.com

I have to get out of his bed at once.

But, how? It didn’t seem like he was gonna be leaving me anytime soon, seeing as his grip was still tight around my waist.

I remained still as a rock in his grip while trying to regulate my breathing pattern, and then I tentatively cleared my throat, preparing myself to speak.

"Uh..." I began, cringing at how pathetic I sounded.

I decided to try once again.

"C- can you please let go of m- me?" I whispered, breath paused in my lungs as I waited for a response.

I wasn’t sure he heard me at first, but when he held me tighter and growled once again, I realized that he had actually heard me.

"P- please." I whispered once again. I couldn’t believe that I was currently in a situation like this, whereby I had to beg to be freed from someone’s grip, and that someone was Blaze of all people.

"Where the fuck are you going?" His voice was low, like silk and it made goosebumps erupt over my arms as a shiver slithered down my spine.

For a few moments, I felt tongue tied and I suddenly felt the urge squeeze my thighs together.

"Uh... t- to take a shower, then to m- my friends." I finally stuttered out, breath bated as I waited for a response.

But it never came. Instead, the grip around my arm loosened so fast that it caught me unaware. Not wanting him to change his mind and grip me again, I hastily rolled off the bed at once without thinking, falling on the ground in the next moment.

"Ow." I whispered as pain shot through my back, while heat flooded my face. I couldn’t believe my clumsy tendencies were showing right in front of Blaze!

The day hadn’t even started yet and I was already wishing it would end.

When I finally pulled myself off the ground, I refused to glance at the bed, but I was certain Blaze’s intense gaze followed me all the way to the bathroom.

~~~
I was fully dressed in my usual black from head to toe, with my brown contact lenses in and my phone and wallet on me.
I was making my way towards the entrance of the door when Blaze’s voice made me stiffened and stopped at once.
"Will you be late?" He asked. His voice came from the entrance of the door leading into the sitting room. When I glanced back at him, I regretted it immediately because he was still shirtless and that weird feeling was back in my stomach as soon as my eyes landed on his muscles.
I cleared my throat, shaking my head in response as my cheeks flushed.
"Good boy." He rasped out and at once, I felt weak in the knees, which made me struggled with the door embarrassingly before finally getting it open and flying out of the doorway like my ass was on fire.
I paused to catch my breath and to stop my cheeks from feeling like they were on fire.
When I finally began to walk down the hall, I began to ask myself why he asked me if I was gonna be late, because on a normal day, that wasn’t supposed to be his concern.
I thankfully didn’t run into anyone on this floor where I knew all the other special students were on.
I knew Xander was in one of those rooms, and I didn’t want him to see me right now that I reeked so much of Blaze, because I still wanted him to believe that I still have a crush on him and still wanted him.
That’s the only way I can have a chance to get close to him, and on this damned trip, I’m gonna make sure I achieve a whole lot of things.
Which is why I had shot Andrian a text in the bathroom, telling him I’d come see him today, and he had given me an address at once.
When I got to the spot Taylor and Josh were waiting for me at, the first thing they commented on, was how I smelled so much of Blaze.
They had clearly been worried about me and were very surprised when I revealed that nothing had happened to me overnight like we had all feared.
They were even more shocked on discovering that I slept in his bed, in his arms, and that nothing still happened.
"Although, he bit me though, behind my neck... but it doesn’t hurt or anything." I explained and when they demanded to see said bite, I moved my hair away and revealed it to them.
When I glanced back at them, they both looked pale.
"D- did you say nothing happened between you t- two?" Taylor asked, eyes wide and I slowly nodded my head in response.
Josh was massaging his forehead as he spoke. "Jules... that’s a settling bite."
I blinked at him in confusion, unsure of what he meant.
"What happened after he bit you last night?" Taylor asked this time and I shrugged as I responded.
"Oh, I fell asleep almost immediately."
Their faces paled even more and they exchanged glances almost immediately.
"What is it, guys?" I tentatively asked, blinking at them as I began to wring my fingers.
"A settling bite never works... except it’s given by one’s ma–" Taylor started to explain but Josh cut him off.
"Taylor, we aren’t sure yet!"
Taylor’s mouth opened and closed a few times before he finally nodded his head and exhaled deeply, face etched like he was physically holding himself back from speaking.
"You’re right, we aren’t sure yet."
I glanced between the both of them, unsure of what was going on.
"Guys... what do you mean? Is there something I need to... know?
Taylor forced a smile on his face before grabbing my hand.
"It’s nothing, Jules. Let’s go have breakfast."
