Carnivals: Claimed By The Deranged Alpha Prince [BL]-Chapter 45: Personal Findings
Chapter 45: Personal Findings
Jules pov
"What does a settling bite means?"
As soon as I asked that question, Andrian turned his head around to peer at me. He was currently looking through some files on a shelf.
"A settling bite?" He repeated and I hummed while nodding in response. Since the moment Josh explained what the bite Blaze gave me meant, curiousity had been eating at my insides all the way to the spot where we all had breakfast together, and down to the address Andrian gave me.
"Why are you asking that? I expected you to ask a whole lot of questions but not this one." He explained and I shrugged a little. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"No reason. Just... curious."
Andrian finally pulled out a file from the shelf and walked around till he was flopping into the seat a few inches away from me.
"Well, a settling bite is like... something sacred, and it’s only available for supernatural being with fangs like wolves, Lycans, vampires, and it only works when a mate administers said bite to their mate."
He explained and I felt my heart stutter to a stop at once, mind reeling from disbelief.
"O- oh." I ended up whispering when Andrian arched a brow at me.
"A settling bite is administered to calm one’s distressed mate. That’s the main purpose for the bite." He continued, plunging me deeply into a sea of confusion.
Mates?
What the fuck?
I’ve heard of the term ’mate’ before, but I never gave it much care because warlocks and witches don’t have mates, it’s left to us to chose who we want to end up with, or it’s left to our parents to select a partner they deem worthy enough for us.
"Uh... did you really say mates?" I questioned once again after a few moments and Andrian hummed in response.
"Do you not like the term ’mates’?" Andrian asked on seeing the distressed look on my face while staring at me closely, and then he breathed out a laugh.
"Well, you don’t have to worry if you’d find a mate or not because of your linage and supernatural classification, so don’t fret, hm?" He explained and once again, I felt my heart slow down.
"That means I can’t ever have a mate, right?" I inquired tentatively just to be completely sure and Andrian nodded his head in response, and at once, I let out a long breath which I didn’t realize I had been holding.
"Is that a good or a bad thing?" Andrian asked and I let out a laugh before responding.
"Believe me, it’s the best thing ever!"
Immense fright had first gripped me at the fact that I might be mates with Blaze. Blaze who was a complete psycho! I mean, who in their right minds acts the way he does? I literally had to plead with him before he let me out of his bed this morning!
But now that it had been confirmed that there was no way I could have a mate, the worry I had been feeling easily ebbed away.
"But..." I ended up breathing out after a thought settled in my mind. "What if I react to a settling bite? Does it means the person who gave it to me is my... mate?"
As soon as the question was out, my heart began to race once again. Andrian didn’t seem alarmed or worried, he only arched a brow at me.
"What do you mean? Did you get bitten?" He asked and I hastily shook my head in response.
"No, no! I was just asking a question hypothetically." I rushed to explain and Andrian nodded his head slowly.
"Well... if that happens hypothetically, you wouldn’t be able to react to it, because like I explained before, as a warlock, you don’t have a mate, so there’s no way you can react to a settling bite, hypothetically."
As soon as he was done speaking, I felt my heart dropped into my stomach, not because of his explanation, but because I could remember reacting to Blaze’s bite.
Or did I not react to it?
Perhaps I had just been drowsy so after the bite, I drifted off to sleep at once, which made me assume I had actually react to the bite.
That’s definitely what happened!
"Why do you smell strongly of a wolf?" Andrian suddenly asked, instantly pulling me out of my thoughts and making my heart hammer against my chest.
"One would think you got done and dirty with one... oh wait, did you?" He asked, wiggling his brows and I felt color flood my cheeks as I hastily shook my head while biting on my bottom lips.
"Relax... I was just teasing." He murmured softly after a few moments and I felt a long ease out of my lungs.
"I- it’s just that –"
Andrian easily cut me off. "You don’t need to explain yourself to me, Labyrinth. Tell you what, why don’t I give you some scent blockers? That way, people won’t need to smell someone else on you."
He suggested and I felt my eyes well up a little as my heart squeezed a little in my chest. All Andrian had been doing since he whooshed into my life, was to help me over and over again that I’m not sure if I’d genuinely ever be able to repay him.
"Thank you, I’ll really like that." I whispered, sniffling a little. Andrian smiled at me softly before ruffling my hair as he walked past me.
"Your blonde roots are starting to show a little, you should dye your hair again before any of the students in school notices." He paused and glanced at me over his shoulder.
"Speaking of students... how have the school been so far?"
I proceeded to give him a run down of all what had been happening so far. It wasn’t until I was done that I realized that I had left out Blaze from the entire explanation, along with the initiation ritual details.
"Damn." Andrian breathed out once I was done and I snorted.
"Is it that bad? I didn’t realize it was that bad, you never mentioned it on the phone."
"That’s because I knew I had to endure since it’s the most secure place I could hide away in, and I didn’t want to bother you unnecessarily." I explained, because it was nothing but the truth.
"I have some connections, I could move you into the ’special students’ category, at least that way, you’d stop getting bullied, right?"
I hastily shook my head. "No, I don’t think that’s necessary. I already attract enough attention as it is. Moving me to that category is only gonna worsen it, and my roommate is going to gloat about how he got proved right once again that daddy’s money has come through for me again."
"Want me to switch your roommate?" He offered, which I declined once again. So far, he wasn’t someone I couldn’t handle, and I still sometimes feel like there’s way more to him than he usually let on.

It was past noon when I exited Andrian’s temporary office.
We spent the entire day talking about a whole lot of things and looking over a bunch of files at a certain point.
So far, he has been hitting dead ends in my family’s murder investigation, and he urged me to increase the heat in getting closer to Xander. When I revealed that Xander thought I had a crush on him, Andrian said it was a really good thing, and he urged me to try getting into his heart.
Easier said than done though, because so far, it seems like Xander is only interested in having sexual intercourse and nothing more.
I alighted the cab and slammed the door shut, and then I shoved my hands into my pockets. I was making my way back into the luxurious building where I’d be spending the two weeks at, when an unexpected sight made me halt my movement.
It was Kai.
He was approaching me, hands in his pockets and a warm smile on his face.
"Hey, Jules. What’s up?" He murmured and my cheeks flushed a little as our gazes locked.
At this very moment, I was super glad I had applied scent blockers before leaving Andrian’s temporary office, because if I hadn’t, Kai would have been able to smell Blaze on me, and I didn’t want anyone to smell him on me and assume the unthinkable.
"I’m doing great, what about you?" I murmured politely and he fondly huffed, scent drifting into my lungs a little.
"Well, my day instantly got better now that you’re standing in front of me."
I averted my gaze as I felt my cheeks heat up even more.
"So, what about that movie I told you about? We could go watch it this evening."
