Carnivals: Claimed By The Deranged Alpha Prince [BL]-Chapter 46: Hanging Out With Kai
Chapter 46: Hanging Out With Kai
Jules’ pov
"A movie?" I mumbled and Kai hummed while nodding his head.
"We could have some fun together and would finally be able to hang out together again. And, I do wanna hang out with you. So, what do you say?"
What Kai was proposing sounded nice and relaxing, and it wasn’t like I had something to go do back at the dorm I’m currently sharing with Blaze. ƒreewebɳovel.com
With that thought in mind, I ended up slowly nodding my head at him. "Alright, I guess we could go see a movie together."
Kai shot me a smile after my response, cleerly pleased by it.
He ordered a cab and a few minutes later, we were sliding into it.
I sank into the seat at the back of the cab while leaning my shoulders to relax even more. I was currently feeling a little nervous, but it wasn’t because I didn’t trust him, it was because I’ve never done something like this and I wasn’t sure of how it’s actually supposed to go down.
"So, you were out for the most of today, right? Did you do anything interesting?" Kai asked and I choked on my spit while my heartbeat accelerated a little, right before I willed myself to calm down, reminding myself that he was only making conversation right now and dosent know where I went to today and why.
I cleared my throat and forced out a throaty chuckle. "Not that interesting. What about you?" I asked, glancing at him for a moment. He was staring at me, and a small smile was dancing across his lips, one which made my face flush.
"Oh, I spent most of the day playing games with my dumb friends." He smoothly revealed and I shifted in my seat as I responded.
"That sounds really nice."
The rest of the cab ride was relatively silent, but it wasn’t an awkward silence. I stared out the window for the most part, mind whirling and wandering, and at a point, it drifted back to Andrian, back to most of the conversation we had today.
"We’ve arrived." Kai called out, jolting me out of my thoughts and when I blinked a little, I realized that the cab had indeed stopped moving.
I pushed my hair out of my face and made to push my door open, but somehow, Kai beat me to it by pulling it open and holding a hand out for me.
I stared at his outstretched hand for a second before glancing at his face and back to his hand. Color flooded my face and I wondered why he was being so gentlemanly. I cleared my throat after a few moments.
"I can get the door myself though." I mumbled quietly, mind returning to the time we had coffee together, a fine evening which ended with him carrying me back to the dorms on his BACK.
Did he think I was too weak to do something as basic as this because he had witnessed me being super weak a bunch of times... like when he had carried me to the infirmary after I almost got drowned.
Those thoughts floated around in my mind right before he responded, voice sounding fond. "I know you can, Jules. I just wanted to."
Another wave of heat filled my face as I averted my gaze and slipped my hand into his. He tugged me out of the car and I almost collided with his chest, but his hand against my side prevented that from happening.
When he went to pay the driver, I remained in the same spot, face flushed and mind reeling while I wondered what that was about.
When he returned, he flashed me a grin, which transformed his entire face and made him appear more good looking.
"So, got any movie in mind?" He asked and I shook my head.
"I dont mind any." I responded honestly and he laughed as he began to walk into the cinema, and I fell into steps beside him.
"Good, because I’m gonna introduce you to a really good shit." He snickered good heartedly as we finally stopped before a counter where tickets were being sold at.
I offered to pay for my stuff because I had a card which Andrian had loaded a lot of money in, but Kai refused that from happening , claiming he needed to pay since he invited me over.
Once that was out of the way, he paid and we grabbed the tickets along with a bottle of soda and a large bucket of popcorn.
"Want me to hold the popcorn for you?" He offered, voice soft on noticing how I was struggling to hold everything in my hands together and I sighed thankfully as I handed it to him. Once we were in the cinema, I accepted the bucket back.
Although I couldn’t really focus on the movie, or the popcorn, because Kai’s hand had somehow found my hand and was content with absentmindedly playing with it every now and then, throughout the entire duration of the movie.
It was very distracting because his scent was right there in my face and his hand felt warm around mine, coupled with the fact that whenever he glanced at me to point out something funny or interesting on the large screen, I found myself stuttering for words.
When we exited the cinema, I heaved a deep breath of relief as I stretched my tense limbs. Kai was staring at me once I was done and I felt the tips of my ears turn red.
"So, should we have dinner together before we head back? So we don’t miss the curfew." He suggested and I chewed on my bottom lip, contemplating on the offer.
Kai looked very energized right now, and if I refused, I’d just be killing his vibe. And besides, I do like Kai, he’s super cool and fun to hang around. He’s also very polite and gentlemanly, since the moment he carried me to the infirmary. The movie would have been really nice for me if I hadn’t been distracted throughout.
"Let’s do that then." I agreed and in no time, we were in a restaurant here in the mall where the cinema has also been located.
Minutes after we began to eat, Kai began to speak. "So... how’s rooming with the deranged alpha so far?" He asked and the forkful of spaghetti I had almost shoved into my mind fell back into my plate.
I was still blinking at Kai when he laughed softly, leaning back against the chair. "Well, that’s one of his numerous nicknames, because... y’know, he’s really deranged."
I shifted in my seat, unsure of how to respond to this very unexpected question.
"It has been... um–"
"You don’t need to mince your words, Jules. To be frank, everyone thought you were gonna be unrecognizable today, and that’s if you’d actually be alive. As I watched him select you out of the entire students, I got really worried about you and for a moment, I wondered if you’ve wronged him in the past or something, but I know you couldn’t have. Which was why I was glad to see you in one piece this evening." He explained, hand combing through his hair and I mumbled a quiet ’oh’.
"So, how has it been?"
I shrugged a little after a few seconds. "It’s... well... he has been ignoring me for the most part." I squeaked out, because for some reason, I didn’t want to tell him of the entire thing that went down between Blaze and I last night.
"Really?" He asked, clearly shocked and I cleared my throat while nodding my head, fiddling with my cutlery.
Kai appeared to be in deep thoughts for a few seconds. "Hm... I guess he’s drawing whatever sick plan he has out for you. Just, always keep your guard up around him. He’s like a ticking time bomb and not to be trusted at all." He continued seriously and I nodded my head in understanding.
After a few minutes, I decided the thought that had been dancing around my head for the past minute.
"So... uh– do you know Blaze like on a personal level?" I asked and Kai snorted before downing the rest of his drink.
"We can talk about that some other time, hm?" He suggested and I nodded my head before sipping on my water, promising myself that I was gonna hold him to that.
When I glanced at my phone minutes later, I almost jumped out of my skin on realizing how late it was. Almost immediately, a memory from this morning resurfaced in my mind, whereby Blaze had asked me to not be late.
I cursed under my breath as I hastily got to my feet and began to get my stuff while Kai asked if something was wrong.
Something is more than wrong right now.
I’m completely doomed because I’m very late right now.
Shit. Shit. Fucking hell.
I’m most definitely fucked tonight...
