Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 176
Chapter 176: Chapter 176
Alliance Headquarters....Capital City...
"What the hell was happening around?" a young man shouted, slamming the table in front of him.
This young man is not a young man but a peak Rank-9 awakened, who was able to retain his youth because he was a genius who grew faster than most. He is also the president of the alliance and that is why he is so frustrated and pissed with what was going on for the past month, all over the world.
The cults which were once afraid of alliance and had always been in the dark started to become bold out of a sudden. They started to attack alliance outposts everywhere.
Normally, they never acted this way. They might attack talented awakeners or other humans for their sacrifices, but they never attacked the alliance first directly. Every move they used to make was for their sacrifices, but what they are doing now is different.
"Are they at their breaking point? It might be similar to that proverb, a cornered beast is the most dangerous of all, as it would fight with everything", the man thought and started to calm down.
If the cults are falling apart, then these actions would perfectly fit. Before they come down, they should be trying to pull the world as much as they can into hell.
Without the alliance or a weakened alliance, the human society may break apart and doom might soon follow, with what is about to happen.
The ones who knew that the world would go through an upgrade are preparing for the chaos that would come with the upgrade, but even they don’t know that the upgradation has already started.
Upgrade of the planet doesn’t just mean the quality would be improved, but the quantity too.
The number of dungeons would increase, as would the number of magic ore mines. However, the alliance had yet to find the upgrade for two reasons.
One is that, alliance doesn’t control or have eyes all over the world.
On land, there are still areas that humans can’t enter, even though there are five human gods. This was because there are monsters that can stand toe-to-toe with these human gods, and they are higher in number.
This was just land, not water.
The seas and oceans are filled with many powerful monsters, and humans have yet to even explore a few miles off the coast. They have no idea what truly happens in the depths of the oceans.
The upgradation started at random places.
Though some of those random places are inside alliance territory, it was not properly visible for anyone to think that was the result of a planet upgrade.
A few low-ranking dungeons popped up in alliance lands.
New dungeon formations are a common thing that happens almost every day. Most of these new dungeons are temporary.
They would disappear after a time period or once they were conquered. Only some are permanent and can be relocated elsewhere, like the Dungeon Hall in the academies. It costs a lot. So, unless the dungeon is very far away from the living area, relocation wouldn’t be used.
Instead, the city or town that was near the dungeon would expand towards the dungeon location. This way was cheaper than dungeon relocation, though it might take a lot of time.
So, when new dungeons popped up nearby, the officials didn’t think much about it, especially since the news about the planet upgrade was kept secret and only the top officials knew about it.
It doesn’t mean others are blind.
With the orders to increase security and with the flow of higher quantity and quality of resources for the improvement of security forces, one can easily know that something big was going on or was going to happen soon.
Though many understood this, they had no idea what it was.
So, in the end, the alliance missed out on the details that could have told them that the planet’s upgradation has already started.
They were afraid that if the information was leaked to the masses, then there would be mass panic.
Every resource would become scarce and would cost more, as many would use the situation to hoard as many resources as they can. Even the merchants would hike the rates up unnecessarily to gain more money.
This would not be a good thing for society. So, they kept the information secret, which made them lose the information about the planet’s upgradation.
The good thing here was that this information also didn’t reach the cults, as they don’t trust their subordinates at all.
It was not just with the information, but regarding resources as well. Every major resource gained would be kept for themselves are their descendants. Only crumbs are left for the subordinates.
This was the reason why those explorer teams who went out to look for the anomaly, instead of relaying the information of their discovery, became greedy and disappeared from the face of the world.
The good thing about the alliance was that, though there were hoarding habits of the higher-ups, when it was the lower levels’ ones who had to do most of the work, at least they didn’t starve the subordinates as much as the cults, but still, things like that do happen.
It was why there were many who would betray the human alliance and join the cults.

After much deliberation, the young man who was wondering about the Cult attacks on the outposts, took out a communicator, "William, come to my chamber", he said and ended the call.
A few seconds later, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in", the young man said.
A middle-aged man entered the room and stood before the young man silently.
"William, call all the top officials of the alliance and also the headmasters of all the academies. A meeting would be held in five days here in the capital", the president of the alliance ordered.
"Yes, sir", William responded and left the room.
As William left, the young man muttered, "What exactly are you trying to hide?"
