Chapter 177: Chapter 177

Alliance Headquarters....Capital City...

"I believe these attacks are not random, but were done on purpose", the young man said in front of the people who gathered here at the Alliance HQ.

The young man was none other than the Alliance President, who called for the meeting with almost all the powerhouses of the alliance.

The ones who are present here are not dumb. They knew that the cults were attacking the alliance outposts on purpose. There was no reason for others to point that out.

When they heard the president’s words, "We know that part, but what we don’t know is the actual purpose behind these attacks", they all thought in their minds, but uttered not a single word.

They just nodded to the president’s words, agreeing with what he was saying. Doing anything else might land them in unnecessary trouble.

"I know this must be the question on everyone’s mind now. What gains are they expecting by doing this? I asked myself the same question, and after a lot of thought, I came to some conclusions, and I wanted to hear your opinion on them and which can be likely the reason behind these attacks", the president spoke.

The attendees nodded their heads again.

Soon, the president started to state various reasons behind these attacks, but what he stressed most was that these were just feints, not their actual targets, to which most members present agreed, but what their target is, no one can say for sure.

There were many voices among the members, each having a different view.

There are a few that many might be the real target.

The target might be the young talents, maybe even more than usual. This was made under the assumption that the cult had known about the upcoming crisis.

Not every one of the hundred who upgraded from common to uncommon grade was identified. There is a high chance that a few were from the cult’s upper management.

There is a chance that some of them might be some of the reclusive powerhouses, who don’t care about anything, as long as it doesn’t disturb them.

This was just their hoping, but everyone knows that might not be the case.

The second most spoken opinion was that they were trying to find something, something they don’t have any idea where to or how to find.

If there were huge moments, then the alliance would be alerted, and whatever they wanted to find might even fall into the hands of the alliance.

The attacks would be a proper cover for the movements.

Many agreed with that, but it was not guaranteed, and they started to dive into things about others as well.

---

After discussing what might be and what might not be, the meeting ended.

Slowly, everyone dispersed. Though they were almost sure what the cults were trying to do, they needed to search the area that the Diviners spoke of before coming to a conclusion.

It might be a trap prepared by the cults for the alliance.

Diviners were once used to the most mysterious profession, where nothing could hide from their eyes. If one makes an enemy of a Divinator, no matter where they go, they will be found.

Diviners can make the luck of their opponents into their luck by seizing what should have been their enemy’s fortune.

This was why no one antagonised them, but that also brought a few greedy diviners who misused their power.

As it should be known, no power is absolute. Everything has a natural counter. One has to just find what that is, and soon did.

There were many artifacts to protect from Diviner’s eyes, even misdirect them if they wanted to. There are even skills that do the same thing.

With so many ways to make a diviner go wrong with their divination, the alliance can’t blindly think what they said is right, but it probably is. So, they decided to spend some resources on this venture and see what the heck the Cults were trying to do.

In the meantime, they were ordered to fortify not just the outposts but also all cities and towns. The moments between various settlements were restricted, especially for talented students in their senior years, who usually go outside to complete some missions issued by the academies.

This is the best way for the senior students to earn more Dusk credits than they can by staying in the academy and going through dungeons there.

Entering dungeons costs credits, and not always does the loot earn profits for them.

While taking missions outside, if they stumble upon any wild dungeons that are newly formed, they can enter them freely, and whatever they earn would be theirs, which can be converted into other resources.

Students can exchange resources among themselves in the academies. There was no restriction upon this, though it was kind of a loophole.

Since the student family can provide resources from their treasury that they can’t use to exchange with others, but this was something the academies couldn’t erase.

Luck is, after all, an integral part of life. Being born in a rich and powerful house is luck.

Things like these can’t be stopped, as if they were stopped from exchanging inside, they would do so outside of the academy, where someone rich or powerful can take advantage of others, and there would be unfair exchange, which could lead to some unwanted consequences later on.

Since resources can be exchanged between students, many would go out on missions, hoping that they would be fortunate enough to stumble on some fortunes.

The cults may target these students who are on missions outside of protection.

Putting talented students in a greenhouse would yield delicate flowers. They need to send the students out to grow better, but the members decided to increase the defence of these talented students before they go out, making sure that they can survive any attacks from the cults.

This was the best they could do, for the best of both the students and the society.

---

At this moment, the explorer team that the cult sent to find the anomaly was killed and disappeared from the face of the earth.

Aaron has reached Rank-3. If the news about this were known to others, he would be recorded as the fastest to reach Rank-3, but no one knew about this fact.

He was just enjoying his achievement and went on his way, while the alliance was boiling about the upcoming crisis and the crisis that they were facing at the moment.

Aaron can be said to be luckier because of that.

Since cults had other important things to take care of, even though he made himself a target, no one made a move against him or his parents.

Also, the fact that he was protected at the moment made it less likely to get him, and what would the cult gain if they killed his parents? They would only make a enemy who would be hellbent on erasing the cults, no matter the cost.

This is not good for either party, as they saw what could happen if they did such things. Unless it was absolutely necessary, even the cult members wouldn’t go for parents of talented ones, unless it was a situation like Mary, who awakened an SS-Rank class.

Moreover, with Death Mage stamp, he was not a top priority even after he ranked first in the tournamnet.

He is safe for now.
