Diary of a Dead Wizard-Chapter 351: You Call This a Birthday Present?
The familiar handwriting!
The familiar tone!
“Keli? Has she finished her research on radioactive toxins and returned?” Saul smiled, then sucked in a sharp breath between his teeth. “Hiss, it’s been three months since I last contacted her.”
Saul turned to look at Hayden, who was carefully standing still after preparing the potion.
“You... forget it. Pack up the experimental materials, then continue resting.”
Saul originally planned to have Hayden organize the experimental notes, but fearing that this guy might overlook some subtle yet crucial experimental details, he decided to handle it himself.
After assigning the task to Hayden, he quickly turned and strode toward the bronze door.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw Keli, who took a half-step back.
“Why did you suddenly open the door?” Keli stared with lifeless eyes at Saul. “You’ve grown taller?”
“About ten centimeters,” Saul smirked.
Keli was the only one who immediately noticed his change in height.
Of course, this might also be because she now had to look up at Saul.
“Actually, I’ve been growing ever since I completed the second body transformation, it’s just become more noticeable recently.” Saul didn’t hold back and gestured to Keli’s head, revealing that she used to be slightly shorter than him, but now only reached his nose.
Keli rolled her eyes in response.
Saul also observed Keli’s changes. Ever since advancing to Second Rank Apprentice, they had seen each other less frequently. Every time they met, both had undergone significant changes.
Now, Keli’s transformation was also quite striking. Her long red hair had completely turned golden. Not the usual golden hair with blue eyes, but a gold similar to high-purity brass, almost like pure gold coins.
She no longer braided her hair for convenience but let it fall freely.
The ends of her hair had become harder, almost as if each strand of hair had a steel needle attached to it.
The metallic gleam on her skin had completely faded. Saul didn’t know if she had hidden it or if it had shifted to her hair.
“You’ve finished your research on radioactive toxins?”
“Of course!” Keli looked at Saul with a “Did you really have to ask?” expression.
“Well, congratulations on finally being able to return to the tower!” Saul’s congratulations weren’t very heartfelt.
Compared to the increasingly mysterious Wizard Tower, Saul preferred Keli to return to the Black Castle to research on her own. She was the type of person who focused entirely on experiments and rarely participated in any gatherings, only occasionally discussing knowledge or necessary material collection with Saul.
Thus, Keli’s progress was evident.
Saul could sense the strong presence of metal-elemental particles around her.
She was probably not far from Third Rank.
However, when Keli heard Saul’s congratulations, she averted her eyes, glancing to the left.
“That’s not quite it. I still have some finishing work left.”
Saul was taken aback. “Did you run into some difficulties?”
He had thought that Keli came to the tower to ask him or someone else for help.
“Idiot!” Keli was speechless. She suddenly pulled something out of her pocket and held it up in front of Saul’s eyes. “Today’s your birthday! As usual, I’m here to give you a gift.”
Saul’s body stiffened. He ignored the swaying item that looked like a necklace and focused on Keli.
“I completely forgot… Keli, don’t tell me you like me?”
As soon as he asked, Saul regretted it. The question was so direct, like something an inexperienced kid would ask. It wasn’t something a grown man like him should be asking!
Keli’s mouth twitched. She flipped the necklace and thwacked it on Saul’s head.
“You must have lost your mind!” She shook the necklace again, signaling Saul to hurry up and take it.
Saul felt awkward but quickly grabbed the necklace, looking down at it to quickly shift his attention.
The chain of the necklace was made of fine silver links, and the pendant was a transparent glass ball about the size of a thumb.
The glass ball had an intricate magical pattern carved into its surface, and Saul immediately recognized it as a type of sealing magic formation. After Keli’s special modification, he couldn’t immediately tell which kind of external force it was designed to seal.
Inside the glass ball, there was a silver-white, metal-like substance. Its surface was uneven, and it took on an irregular cubic shape.
As Saul held the pendant up to his eyes, he vaguely felt that the metal-like substance was emitting a faint dark blue glow.
“What is this? A magical item you made?”
“This is the radioactive toxin I just developed. I’m giving you the first piece,” Keli replied, folding her arms and proudly raising her eyebrows.
“Oh?” Saul was still very interested in Keli’s radioactive toxin. He hadn’t expected her to really create it and even give him the first piece. “It looks very impressive based on its external characteristics. Does it have an antidote? I’d like to study it too.”
“I’m still working on the antidote.”
Keli said it so confidently, without a hint of hesitation.
This time, it was Saul who twitched his lips. “So the finishing work you’re doing is developing the antidote?”
Keli didn’t deny it, her eyes wandering to the side.
“By the way, be careful when you store it. The toxicity is still pretty strong.”
“Mm, I can tell. You’ve given me a bomb!”
Saul actually wanted to ask, “You call this a birthday present?” but he didn’t dare. He knew he’d just get a white-eyed response from Keli.
“By the way, I haven’t named this toxin yet. Since the inspiration came from your suggestion, you can name it,” Keli shrugged.
Saul turned the pendant in his palm once. Right now, he wasn’t interested in studying the radioactive toxin inside. He wanted to first check how secure the external seal was.
“You want me to name it?” Saul’s mind briefly flashed through some familiar knowledge. “How about Alpha?”
“Ah… Alpha? Why would you name it something so hard to pronounce?” Keli corrected her tongue and repeated the name in full.
“Oh, it is a bit… well then…” Saul was about to suggest another name when Keli quickly interrupted him.
“Forget it, Alpha it is. That’s its name now.”
Seeing Saul cautiously put the necklace away, Keli smiled.
“Alright, I actually came back to ask Master Gudo something, and I wanted to check on you. Now I’m leaving.”
Without saying goodbye, Keli turned and ran, her hair fanning out in the air.
Halfway through, she suddenly stopped, turned her head, and seriously told Saul, “Remember to get me a birthday gift, and don’t make it too cheap!”
With that, she didn’t wait for Saul’s response and quickly ran into the dark corridor.
“That girl!” Saul didn’t even know what to complain about.
However, before he could turn and head back into the bronze door, another faint sound of footsteps echoed from the dark corridor.
It wasn’t Keli’s footsteps!
Saul immediately turned around, his eyes turning icy cold.
“Who’s there?”
The voice came from the middle of the corridor. Someone had been quietly lurking in the darkness while Saul and Keli were talking.
And neither of them had noticed!
The person slowly emerged from the mist-like darkness, stepping into the candlelight, revealing their true identity.
Saul’s eyes shifted from cold to puzzled.
“Hmm…” Byron hesitated, unsure where to look. His throat, where his mouth should be, opened and closed awkwardly, “I… I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop.”
