Chapter 65: 65. Confession

"Tell me, what’s going on? How did you encounter a wild boar on the mountain, and was it really you who killed it?" Hua Laohan’s sharp eyes fixed on his son. The previous explanations might fool the villagers, but he didn’t believe them.

Hua Chengtian didn’t speak, knowing that even if he tried to explain, he couldn’t fool his father. After all, he was the only son in the family, how could a father not understand him, just as he understood his sons.

He also didn’t know how to explain, still bewildered about his daughter’s sudden disappearance and reappearance.

Hua Chengtian couldn’t help but glance at his daughter.

Just that one glance told Hua Laohan there was something up, and it had to do with his granddaughter.

The subtle exchange between her father and grandfather did not escape Hua Jin’s notice. Since she was already exposed in front of her father, it didn’t matter if her grandfather knew as well, especially since his love for her was no less than her father’s.

She promptly looked at her obedient brother sitting beside her. "Xiao Si, did brother assign you a task to complete?"

Too sudden. Xiao Si was caught off guard, bewildered by his sister’s shift in conversation to him, and especially about him completing his homework. His face immediately fell. "Sis... can’t I..."

"No, hurry up and write it. Big brother asked me to keep an eye on you, but if you finish in an hour, I’ll give you a treat," Hua Jin added another incentive.

"Really?" With the promise of food, Xiao Si instantly perked up, standing abruptly with bright eyes looking at his sister.

"Of course, when have I ever lied to you?" Hua Jin raised her brows.

"I’ll do it right away." Xiao Si dashed out eagerly.

Watching the little one disappear, Hua Jin finally turned back to look at her grandfather, who had been staring at her all along.

"Grandpa, let me explain this matter," Hua Jin said.

"Actually, I was the one who killed the wild boar," Hua Jin immediately followed up with a shocking statement, startling Hua Laohan to his feet.

No matter how many possibilities he considered, Hua Laohan never expected this.

"I used this to do it," Hua Jin reached out her hand and, as Hua Laohan was puzzled, his eyes suddenly widened.

As if he couldn’t believe it, he shook his head vigorously and blinked, and upon opening his eyes again, the object still sat in his granddaughter’s small hand as if it had magically appeared.

"This... this..." Where had Hua Laohan’s previous composure gone, he stammered, glancing at his granddaughter and then at his son.

In fact, even with some preparation, Hua Chengtian couldn’t maintain his composure at this moment.

His daughter’s ability to bring things out of thin air still shocked him internally, intensely focusing on the object in her hand.

This was the thing... She used this to kill the wild boar and also saved him.

"Grandpa, Dad, you remember three months ago when I fell off the slope and got injured, right?"

How could they forget, their granddaughter nearly lost her life. Hua Laohan’s heart ached every time he recalled it, nodding sympathetically.

Hua Chengtian was the same, waiting for his daughter to continue speaking.

"Dad, you mentioned that I was unconscious for several days?"

Hua Chengtian nodded.

"Actually, during those days of unconsciousness, I don’t know if it was a dream or reality, but I went to another world, completely different from ours..." Hua Jin began to narrate her prepared story.

"... In that world, the country I was in was without war, everyone lived peacefully and could eat their fill, living happily, without gender discrimination. Both men and women could study and read..."

"There, technology was advanced, enabling people to fly in the sky and swim in the sea, with cars that could carry people over a hundred kilometers an hour... uh, an hour there is like what we call half an hour here..." Seeing their puzzled expressions, Hua Jin explained further.

"... Cooking doesn’t require wood or coal but uses gas and electricity... lighting with electricity instead of oil lamps or candles... People lived surrounded by advanced technology... and had powerful weapons..." Ending here, Hua Jin seriously looked at both her grandfather and father.

"Grandpa, isn’t our Hua Village quite large?"

"Yes," Hua Laohan nodded, "in these surrounding villages within a ten-mile radius, Hua Village is one of the largest."

"And the powerful weapons I mentioned could make Hua Village disappear within a few moments or in the blink of an eye... Although I was unconscious for only a few days, it felt like a long time in that world..."

Hua Jin’s words certainly frightened both Hua Laohan and Hua Chengtian.

For such a large village to vanish in an instant without a trace, what kind of power was that, something humans couldn’t possibly withstand, surely a divine means?

Could it be that during her coma, the child went to a celestial realm, a place only immortals could traverse, otherwise how would she know of things beyond their imagination? The clarity in her words and the object she conjured with her hand, so small and exquisite, unlike anything made here.

Hua Chengtian and his father couldn’t help but exchange a glance, their expressions growing heavier, finally understanding why the child seemed so much more mature since she awakened from her injuries. It was because she had grown in another world.

"... Upon waking, these things felt etched into my mind, very clear, impossible to forget, and there’s more..."

This "more" immediately heightened the tension in Hua Laohan and Hua Chengtian.

"Shortly after I woke up, I discovered something extra in my mind..."

"What is it, Jin’er, what’s extra? Don’t be afraid, Grandpa will take you to see a doctor and certainly get that thing out of your mind, sell everything if needed," Hua Laohan exclaimed, terrified upon hearing about something in her mind, speaking hurriedly.

Hua Chengtian was equally frightened, unable to even fathom having something extra in one’s mind... He stood up, wanting to take his daughter to see someone immediately.

"No... Grandpa, Dad, you’re overthinking it. Please listen to me first. What I meant by something extra isn’t literal but more like a mysterious feeling in my mind, as if there’s something there, not as you imagine..."

Realizing they misunderstood, Hua Jin quickly interjected.

If she didn’t speak up now, these two elders might worry themselves sick from fear; their anxiety stemmed from their deep care, which warmed her heart, erasing her last bit of hesitation.

Hearing her words, Hua Chengtian paused, his tense demeanor relaxing. He smirked at his daughter, "You nearly scared your old dad; next time, don’t pause while speaking."

Hua Jin: "..."

Did she pause just now?

Feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation, Hua Jin nodded.

Well... even dad needed to save face!

"... The extra thing in my mind is actually a space."

"Space?" Both father and son echoed, eyes filled with confusion.

"Hmm... Grandpa and Dad, you’re familiar with a mythical sleeve pocket universe? It’s something like that, a treasure akin to it. To put it simply, it feels as if there’s a house in my mind," Hua Jin tried a different approach, because indeed, there was a house.
