Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 20 - 019 New Shareholder of Xie Group
Chapter 20: 019 New Shareholder of Xie Group
"Captain Xiang, this guy is as tough as nails. It’s hard to get anything out of him."
Xiang Chenyan gazed at the electronic screen, watching Xu Lang sitting alone in the interrogation room.
His mental resilience was solid; ordinary interrogation techniques were useless on him.
Yesterday, Feng Qiang had hurriedly approached him, claiming someone wanted to kill him and accusing Xu Lang of instructing him to poison Feng Chi.
Xiang Chenyan had naturally heard the rumors swirling about Feng Chi’s cause of death in the past two days and, already suspicious, paid close attention to it.
Xiang Chenyan made a swift decision: "Summon Feng Qiang for questioning."
"Officer, I’ve confessed everything I know. Does this count as turning myself in? Can I get a lighter sentence?"
Xiang Chenyan held the corner of a piece of fabric sealed in a bag, the pale blue material showing faint traces of watermarks.
"The test results are in. It’s indeed digoxin extract, but this alone isn’t enough to convict Xu Lang."
Feng Qiang was stunned, incredulous. "Isn’t my testimony enough?"
"These evidences prove only your guilt, not Xu Lang’s. Do you understand?"
Feng Qiang looked as if he was going through an ordeal.
"I’m rather curious," Xiang Chenyan’s eyes deepened.
"You didn’t even leave evidence against the person who instructed you to murder. So how did you think to find this evidence at the crime scene after the incident? After all, the police searched three times and found nothing. How do you explain that?"
As his tone intensified, Xiang Chenyan suddenly slammed his hand on the table.
Feng Qiang turned pale with fright, trembling uncontrollably.
His mouth fell open as fear and uncertainty flickered in his eyes.
*
Leaving the interrogation room, Xiang Chenyan pulled out a cigarette.
His subordinate was about to light it when Xiang Chenyan frowned, "What are you doing?"
The subordinate froze, quickly retracting his hand.
"Captain Xiang, you’re as perceptive as ever. If what Feng Qiang said is true, someone saved him and gave him the evidence. That person is highly suspicious, right? Could they be trying to frame Xu Lang as an enemy?"
"It’s possible, but in criminal investigations, you must consider the issues dialectically. The mysterious person behind this has two motives: First, they set a trap for Xu Lang to fall into. Second, they’re seeking justice for Feng Chi. Otherwise, the truth behind Feng Chi’s death may never come to light."
"So they could also be a good person?"
Xiang Chenyan smirked, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
Whether someone is good or bad is merely a matter of perspective.
Xiang Chenyan had been handling cases for years. While his skills were remarkable, he relied more on his keen instincts.
The mysterious person’s motives weren’t so simple; there might be another plan behind it all.
Soon enough, the true intention would be revealed.
"Captain, it’s lunchtime. What would you like to eat? I’ll have Xiao Wang order it."
A policeman carrying a meal tray walked past, brushing shoulders with Xiang Chenyan.
Xiang Chenyan was about to reply when something occurred to him. His eyes focused, and he suddenly turned around.
The officer pushed open the door to Feng Qiang’s interrogation room and walked inside.
His subordinate, noticing his interest, casually explained, "Delivering meals to the suspect. The food has been checked by a specialist, so you can be assured."
The officer exited Feng Qiang’s interrogation room and entered the room where Xu Lang was detained, carrying the remaining meal tray.
Xiang Chenyan furrowed his brows, something crossing his mind, as he sprinted forward, heading straight to Xu Lang’s interrogation room.
"Oh no, something serious is going to happen..." His subordinate exclaimed in alarm, quickly following.
*
Xie Beichun was anxiously waiting for news at the company.
"Mr. Xie, the shareholders have arrived," the secretary came in to report.
The stock price of Xie Group had been affected, leading the shareholders to convene a board meeting, demanding an explanation from him.
These old folks seize any chance to pull him down.
Xie Beichun’s expression turned grim; he would never give them this opportunity.
Dressed formally, Xie Beichun attended the board meeting. Those veteran slickers fell silent upon seeing him, intimidated by his past authority.
Just as Xie Beichun was about to speak, a laughing voice suddenly rang out.
"Am I late?"
Xie Beichun whirled around, his sharp gaze landing on the person at the door.
The shareholders curiously scrutinized him.
He was a very slim young man with golden blond hair, fair-skinned, with sunglasses perched on a high nose bridge, covering nearly half of his face.
He wore a brown printed leather jacket and light blue wide-leg jeans, with custom canvas shoes on his feet, showcasing his slender and tall figure. Leaning against the doorframe, he crossed his arms, appearing casual yet refined, trendy yet not lacking sophistication.
At first glance, he seemed overwhelmingly radiant, like a big celebrity from somewhere.
"Did you... come to the wrong place?" a shareholder asked.
The man stepped inside and sat down in the empty seat on Xie Beichun’s right hand.
Xie Beichun’s pupils contracted slightly.
The seating arrangements for the shareholders held meaning; the closer they sat to him, the more shares they held.
This seat belonged to a major shareholder who hadn’t attended the board meetings recently due to health issues.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Amos, the new shareholder of Xie Group."
As he spoke, he took off his sunglasses.
A collective gasp of surprise echoed in the meeting room.
It was an exceptionally delicate and beautiful face, but even more captivating were those azure blue eyes, reminiscent of the clear sky and deep ocean, both distant and serene.
No one spoke for a moment in the conference room until Xie Beichun was the first to react.
He fixed a wary gaze on the striking young man in front of him: "A new shareholder? What’s this joke...?"
A document was thrown onto the table before him.
A shareholder on the opposite side quickly picked it up and glanced over it: "Old Xie transferred his shares to him. Along with some scattered shares, he now..."
The words abruptly stopped, giving Xie Beichun a meaningful look.
The share percentage was now equal to Xie Beichun’s.
Veins bulged on Xie Beichun’s forehead; he had been expanding territories outside, only to be tripped up by his own people.
Oh, fantastic!
The young man slouched lazily in the chair, "The procedures for changing the shares are pretty cumbersome. If no one objects, I’ll let my secretary handle it."
No one responded at once, their eyes all on Xie Beichun.
This suddenly appearing young man was obviously incomparable to Xie Beichun, who had controlled Xie Group for decades.
At critical moments, people still knew what was significant.
Xie Beichun sneered, "I disagree."
Amending bylaws required the chairman’s signature, and without Xie Beichun’s consent, changes couldn’t proceed.
The young man raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly, "Mr. Xie, soon you won’t have a say."
Xie Beichun’s face turned livid, glaring angrily, "Young man, don’t overestimate yourself..."
Just then, someone knocked on the meeting room door.
When Xiang Chenyan walked in, Xie Beichun’s mind went blank with a buzz.
The entire meeting room exploded with activity.
When Xie Beichun was embarrassingly escorted out, everyone remained stunned in their seats, unable to fathom the situation.
Except for the young man with blond hair leisurely sitting in the chair, playing with his sunglasses, relaxed and composed.
Xiang Chenyan took a long, deep look at him, then turned and left in large strides.
The meeting room returned to silence.
The young man clicked his tongue, "Those who commit injustice are doomed to destruction. Everyone, be sure to learn from this, be decent people, understood?"
Not knowing why everyone responded back in unison, and upon realizing they had been reprimanded by this young man, their expressions became indescribably awkward.
"Well, next we shall discuss the candidate for new chairman."
Invisibly, he had somehow become the backbone for the shareholders.
The shareholders looked at each other. Thinking back on the young man’s earlier cryptic words, followed by Xie Beichun being taken for investigation,
it seemed unlikely to be a coincidence.
They observed the young man with the golden hair — truly young, indeed handsome.
Yet, at this moment, he exuded an air of profound depth.
Clearly, he came prepared.
