Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 21 - 020 It’s all over
Chapter 21: 020 It’s all over
Xie Shiyao rushed to the company upon receiving news, only to find that the board meeting had already ended.
"Uncle Han, what exactly is going on?" Xie Shiyao approached Chairman Han, who had not yet left.
He was the company’s vice chairman, seasoned and highly connected.
Chairman Han’s eyes briefly flashed with a sharp glint before he let out a deep sigh.
"Shiyao, has your uncle offended anyone recently? This time, the situation seems serious. During the board meeting, Vice Chairman Zhao was overwhelmingly elected to temporarily take over your uncle’s position as chairman. If your uncle truly committed a crime... sigh..."
Xie Shiyao’s expression changed drastically.
While Chairman Han had his own interests, he had always firmly supported Xie Beichun. As for Zhao Haotian, his family merely struck lucky when his father’s gamble turned him into a major shareholder from a commoner. Yet, deep down, Zhao Haotian remained crude and ignorant of proper management.
More disturbingly, Zhao Haotian held a private grudge against her uncle over something that had happened.
This was trouble!
"How could he possibly deserve it?" Xie Shiyao blurted out indignantly.
"With Amos’ backing, that’s how."
"Amos?" The name was utterly unfamiliar to Xie Shiyao. She instinctively retorted, "Where did he come from?"
"That’s what I’m saying! Did your uncle offend him somehow? He seems shrouded in mystery and is certainly not someone to be trifled with..."
The boardroom earlier had been charged with tension, as everyone seemed eager to compete for the top position.
A blond-haired young man had calmly pointed out the sins and scandals weighing on the shoulders of each person.
The room was stunned into silence, as though frozen in fear.
Even the seasoned veterans dared not make a move, each adopting a submissive demeanor.
Under such circumstances, Zhao Haotian was thrust into the chairman’s seat.
At that moment, everyone realized that this wasn’t some makeshift decision but a carefully orchestrated plan.
Fuming, Xie Shiyao stormed toward the chairman’s office.
The secretary dutifully blocked her at the door. "Miss Xie, you can’t go in..."
"Move aside!" Xie Shiyao slapped the secretary across the face, her brows fierce and cold.
"You dare stop me?"
"Well, well, who do we have here? Turns out it’s our dear Miss Xie."
The office door swung open from the inside, accompanied by a mocking voice.
Xie Shiyao abruptly raised her head, her gaze venomous like a poisoned arrow.
"Zhao Haotian, how dare you steal my uncle’s position? Who gave you the guts?"
Zhao Haotian let out a cold laugh, disdainful and dismissive. "Xie Shiyao, wake up. Xie Beichun is under suspicion of murder. He’s done for. The Xie family is finished too. If you’re smart, stay quiet—otherwise, I’ll make sure all your dirty secrets become public knowledge."
"Nonsense! My uncle could never commit murder. This is slander—I’ll sue you for defamation!"
"Sue me? Go ahead. I’ll be waiting right here for the court summons."
Zhao Haotian flaunted the attitude of a triumphant lowlife.
"You...!" Xie Shiyao was infuriated, her face flushed red, her neck stiff with rage.
Suddenly, soft footsteps sounded from behind her. Zhao Haotian immediately dropped his sharp sneer and turned around, demonstrating exaggerated respect and obsequiousness.
The transformation was so seamless and dramatic that it was jaw-dropping.
"Mr. Amos, my apologies for letting someone so unimportant disturb your grace."
Xie Shiyao’s mind buzzed fiercely upon being indirectly called insignificant.
Before her eyes was a head of golden hair, its luster brighter than sunlight, forcing her to squint slightly.
The youth’s pale skin made even Xie Shiyao, as a woman, feel a pang of inadequacy. His deep blue eyes seemed like black holes, concealing unknown mysteries and dangers.
The moment the youth looked her way, Xie Shiyao felt her blood run cold.
Having spent so many years in the entertainment industry, encountering countless prominent figures, she thought she had seen it all. Yet this youth carried a mystique that surpassed any of those powerful personas.
Xie Shiyao couldn’t believe that the Amos who overturned the board was so young—no older than seventeen or eighteen.
There was no denying that his strikingly beautiful mixed-race face would be enough to captivate countless women if he set foot in the entertainment world.
Realizing these thoughts, Xie Shiyao was startled. How could she entertain such notions for someone scheming to seize the Xie family’s assets?
"Miss Xie," the youth nodded slightly, his tone gentlemanly yet distant.
His voice was captivating, absent of the awkwardness typically found in teenage boys’ voices during puberty. It resembled the refined depth of a cello’s melody.
"I’m sorry about what happened with Mr. Xie. However, I trust that the police of Hua Country will neither wrong an innocent person nor let a guilty one escape."
"My uncle is absolutely a good person—he’s done countless charitable deeds and helped so many people. How could he possibly be a bad person?" Xie Shiyao instinctively defended.
"Let’s hope so." The youth nodded with a gentle smile and walked away.
Zhao Haotian quickly jogged after him, displaying his servility without restraint.
It wasn’t until they disappeared from view that Xie Shiyao snapped out of it.
Amos, the alleged suspect behind the attempt to seize Xie Group, had just dismissed her concerns with mere platitudes. How had she been so easily swayed?
She had come to hold him accountable!
Chasing after him, she realized the two figures had long vanished.
"Damned bastard." Xie Shiyao vented her frustration by kicking a trash can, then pulled out her phone to make a call.
"Trace someone for me."
She had various detective and hacker resources at her disposal, which over the years had accomplished several tasks for her. Digging up someone’s background was mere child’s play for them.
But the immediate priority was getting Xu Lang and her uncle out of trouble.
When the tiger is away, the monkey reigns as king.
Once the tiger returns, the monkey’s days will be numbered.
"Mr. Xie, the public opinion right now is very unfavorable for us." Her assistant called, sounding heavy-hearted.
Xie Shiyao gritted her teeth. "Have you forgotten what my profession is? Deploy all the water armies we’ve raised. If I spot a single comment harmful to my uncle or President Xu, you’ll all pay dearly for it."
The assistant hesitated briefly before responding with a soft acknowledgment.
There seemed to be something he wanted to say but chose not to.
The entertainment section might be manageable, but the financial and social sectors—there was no controlling them.
The case had spiraled into a massive national incident, gaining attention across the country.
Moreover, the assistant keenly felt as though an invisible hand was manipulating online sentiment behind the scenes.
For now, it seemed futile to point this out, as it would only provoke an unjust tirade from Xie Shiyao.
