"I didn't expect you to be so strong," Jenna said, approaching Elliot to talk to him.
"Hehe, so you noticed."
"I couldn't help but look at your sword, and I think it's more amazing than I thought. I think it happened that way because those wizards have no resistance, but I'm afraid you might have a good advantage fighting Orc Warriors."
Elliot didn't respond, but it was enough to tell Jenna that he agreed with her, but didn't want to talk about it.
So, after a few minutes, she changed the subject.
"The fact that they have us working for them even during the tests gives the guild a bad name. It makes Broken Leaf look like a pretty low-class guild."
"Hm? What do you mean?"
Jenna looked at him. "Don't you know that Orc Wizards' brains are invaluable for gaining Sense in the early stages?"
"Really?" Elliot's eyes lit up when he heard this, but Jenna shook her head.
"Don't get your hopes up. It takes extremely expensive materials and a special preparation method to make Orc Wizard Brain Soup, which, when eaten, helps you gain a good amount of Sense attribute energy. Although it's dangerous to consume because the brain of that thing is a little poisonous, people still buy it at high prices because Sense is so difficult to obtain."
"I see, that's why they make us work for them... They'll sell all this or make that special soup." Elliot nodded and looked at her.
"How much does an Orc Wizard brain cost?"
"Hmm, in the Capital it could cost over 1 million."
"In the Capital?"
"Yes, it's very far away, but if they manage to gather 300 brains from these creatures, the trip will have been totally worth it. The amount of money they would collect would be enough to pay those who manage to join the guild for months and more. That's why they're so clever."
Elliot nodded. 'The Capital... I heard it's the largest city in the Kingdom of Arce. It's also the territory of the Kingdom's Saints and the place where the National Championship takes place.'
The Capital is too far away, not only physically but also 'spiritually' or mentally, for any inhabitant of Loen City. Despite being in the same kingdom, the capital is on a completely different scale.
There, Masters are servants, unless you have enough money to buy a house, but the protection of a 'Saint' is something that costs too much money.
Even though we live in a modern age where technology is rampant, flying planes and ships are a reality, and we constantly travel between cities and countries, our world is selfish and dangerous.
Monsters aren't just found in dungeons; they also attack cities and want to kill humans. That's why everyone longs for the protection of the strong.
However, the weak do not deserve protection unless they are rich. That is why in a place with saints or people of very high rank like them, the price of houses or apartments tends to reach astronomical figures that could take many people a lifetime to achieve. Most people are not even allowed to dream of trying to get them.
That is why Capital City is so far ahead spiritually and mentally compared to the people of Loen, where the strongest are barely Masters and can rule as they please.
There, they would be mere pawns that no one would pay attention to except to clean their mansions.
They wouldn't even be useful as bodyguards, because what can they do against a Saint? Without going too far, they couldn't even do anything against a Lord (Professional Player) or a Hero (Ascended Player).
Elliot shook his head, trying to get all his pessimistic thoughts out of his head. 'Even if I leave my skin and blood in the dungeons, I'll soon be like you, Saints.' He gripped his sword.
After that, he looked at Jenna again.
"Do you know why they make us work in teams? This time, no one went in without team."
She nodded.
"It's for the Leveled Leagues, or should I say training to compete in the System competitions. There aren't many months left until the new year, and the Leveled Leagues will start when the new year begins. Once again, the Official System Tournaments will kick off worldwide, so they need to find people who can make good teams."
"I see." He said, nodding.
'That makes sense. After all, in this world, no one can really go it alone and win everything. You can't be a World Champion if you don't have a team. It's part of the Rules.' He sighed.
He didn't like teamwork, but not because he didn't like the idea, but because he wasn't very good at making friends. In the end, he shook his head. Like it or not, that's how this world was.
If he didn't know something, he had to learn it. If it's very difficult to make friends because of his life experience, he must overcome that experience and open himself up to friendships, because only then will he be able to reach the top of his life.
Soon, they entered a strange intersection of trees, which made them stop and quickly hide.
'Why aren't there any orcs?' Elliot thought, but he soon saw that it wasn't that there weren't any...
"They're up in the trees!" he shouted, quickly pushing the tank near him to avoid an attack.
But that was a mistake, because they were on a hill.
With one misstep and its weight, the tank ended up rolling with Elliot and Jenna, who was in between, across the ground.
The hill was made of rocks, so Elliot hit his head several times but managed to stick his sword into the ground to stop himself. However, due to the weight of the tank and Jenna, who was taking a bad part of the blow, he didn't manage to stop until he was 6 meters down, when his sword finally stuck into a huge rock.
Elliot took a deep breath and looked down. 'About 10 meters down...' He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that there were rocks of different sizes down there, some looking like stakes and others covered in blood and traces of corpses. If they fell, they would be in danger. One of them could die, or perhaps all of them.
Furthermore, he didn't know if a stronger dungeon was down there, increasing the danger.
"I'm sorry, Elliot," said the tank, as he struggled to get up. He knew he had stood in a bad position and that if Elliot hadn't pushed him, he would have been hit by a pre-prepared spell that could have sent him flying, but without anyone to save him.
But Elliot shook his head and gave Jenna a hand to help her.
"It wasn't your fault. I didn't expect the Orcs to be in the trees. Besides, they were smart. That was a ploy to separate us."
Jenna nodded. "We have to get up there as soon as possible. Without us, the group will be at a huge disadvantage, both in numbers and power."
"You're right."
Chrsss*
Elliot glanced down quickly when he heard a strange noise and frowned.
"Put your shield away."
"Huh?"
"It's too heavy. If this rock falls, we'll be in trouble."
Finally, the tank understood what was happening and immediately put it away.
Elliot looked up again. "We'll climb up slowly. I'll go first to test the ground and find out which rocks to step on. Miss Jenna, try to help me."
Then he looked at the tank. "Make sure you step where I do."
"Yes, yes."
If they stepped wrong, they would be dragged down, so Elliot needed to quickly find rocks that were strong enough to support the weight of several bodies.
He looked for large rocks in particular and began to move upward.
With Elliot's confirmation, Jenna followed closely behind him, and the tank managed to start climbing.
It was dangerous; they were about 8 to 10 meters up. They had to walk slowly and carefully; one false step could mean certain death.
When they had climbed about 3 meters, Elliot frowned and stopped.
"Shh..."
He looked up.
"They're fighting. I can hear swords; it sounds like they're having trouble."
"What? I saw the leader kill an Orc very quickly. Are they really having that much trouble?"
Elliot nodded. 'I was the one who killed that Orc. I'm afraid Chris isn't strong enough to kill them so easily, and now it's showing. Damn.'
He was forced to resume his journey and speed up the climbing process.
But that was dangerous.
When one of his feet caught on a rock, it broke loose from the mountain and began to fall down the slope.
