Chapter 65: Amy’s request

However, Steven didn’t have time to check his phone right now. After all, Cecilia had already walked over to Wynne and thoughtfully handed him a glass of water.

‘We’ve known each other for so long, and she has either snapped at me or ignored me. But now, with a man she had just met, she’s being so gentle with him. Where can I put my pride after seeing this?’

With these thoughts, he stepped forward toward the two of them.

Meanwhile, Cecilia didn’t notice the pair of eyes burning holes into her from behind. She looked at Wynne with some concern.

"I can give you another one of these medicines. Your father..."

"No need."

Cecilia was a bit surprised. She had offered another one just because of his dad, but she didn’t expect him to refuse.

"My father said we won’t use anything from the Walton family."

The Walton family? Mom?

It seems whatever happened between Lilian and the Whitmore family back then was not something that could easily be summed up.

Perhaps she had overstepped tonight.

Since he insisted on refusing, it would be pointless to force him any further. She shrugged and turned to leave.

However, Steven blocked her path.

"Miss Morrison, you are indeed impressive."

Cecilia joked, "Mr. Lawrence, if you want to negotiate a collaboration with the Mitchell family, remember to wait your turn."

Steven smiled.

"Is there a discount if I go directly to you?"

Zane blinked, thinking a bit before saying, "Boss, do you hear what you’re saying?"

Cecilia patted his shoulder.

"You can’t. But someone in your family can."

"Who?"

Just as Cecilia was about to mention Alex’s name, she received a message on her phone.

It was from Alex.

[Mommy, Daddy is investigating Little Sis! Her picture has been sent to his phone.]

[Mommy, you need to stall him first. I need some time to hack into Daddy’s phone.]

Cecilia was startled. Just a single photo from behind was enough for Steven to start investigating, and he did it so quickly. She had been careless.

Thinking of this, her eyes involuntarily glanced at Steven’s phone.

They might be too late by the time Alex could hack into the phone. After all, Steven’s phone wasn’t that easy to hack.

"So who is it?" Steven asked.

Cecilia’s eyes darted around as she quickly came up with an excuse.

"Well... It’s Alex. Yeah, Alex, your son."

Steven was taken aback. Why did this woman always mention his son at critical moments?

What did she mean by this?

She continued.

"I really vibe with your son; perhaps it’s because I also have a daughter. So... Can I see a photo of him?"

Steven was even more confused, not even responding yet, when Cecilia took his phone away.

She quickly unlocked his phone and indeed found Emma’s photo. She swiftly deleted it with a few taps, then handed the phone back to him with satisfaction.

"Very cute."

Afraid that he would realize what was happening, she hurriedly slipped away.

"Let’s talk next time we meet."

Steven watched her retreating figure, feeling a bit elated.

‘What did she just say? Next time we meet?’

‘Is she asking me out?’

‘And she even said Alex is very cute...’

With that thought, he opened his phone, but his smile suddenly disappeared.

‘Wait a minute...’

‘How did she see Alex’s photo without unlocking the phone?’

‘Or did she actually unlock it? How did she know the password?’

Steven’s eyes darkened; it wasn’t that simple.

On the other hand, Cecilia happily left the room after greeting Elena on the phone.

Of course, she knew Steven’s password. It was Alex’s birthday, which was the same as Emma’s.

’Alex is amazing. What should I buy to reward him?’

As she pondered, someone came and suddenly blocked her path.

It was Amy.

"Is there anything you need?"

Cecilia was puzzled. She and Amy never really had actual interactions, so Amy probably didn’t block her like this over something simple.

Amy smiled.

"Miss Morrison, I want to buy your recipe for the medicine."

Understanding her intention, Cecilia refused.

"If you want the medicine, you could ask my great-aunt to see if she would be willing to give you some. As for the recipe, I won’t sell it."

Amy expected this result.

Being in the entertainment industry herself, she naturally had an interest in this medicine. However, the feeling of constantly obtaining medicine from other people, especially from Cecilia, was unpleasant. If she were to do something, she wanted to be the leader of it.

She smiled.

"Ms. Morrison, I watched your performance video before. You have good vocal qualities. If you’re willing to sell me the recipe, I can help you enter the entertainment industry."

Cecilia chuckled inwardly. ‘Why is everyone in the Lawrence family so confident?’

Despite her thoughts, she decided to be polite and refused nicely.

After all, she was the second person in the Lawrence family to care for Alex.

But before she could speak, she saw Wynne rushing toward her with an anxious look.

"My father is in critical condition. Please come with me!"
