Chapter 30: Can you Even Call Him Human At This Point?

"R-R... REWAAAARRRDD!!"

Adam practically screamed in excitement, his eyes sparkling like a kid who just got promised unlimited candy. He turned to Minerva, only to see her flash him a sly, almost teasing smile.

"...w-W-wWHAT kind of reward are we talking about here?"

Adam asked, as he stared blankly at Minerva chest, her large boobs swaying side to side, with the slightest movement.

This of course caused Minerva to look at him and said.

"Heh... Ya know, Priscilla might be onto somethin...

She stopped and tease, before continuing.

"...Ya really are a lil’ perv for someone so damn young. Sometimes, I gotta wonder...are ya really just five years old?"

Priscilla chimed in, still holding Adam upside down by his ankle, watching him flail like an overexcited fish.

Adam, still dangling upside down like a caught fish, flailed his arms, and answered back to her claims, as she said.

"Oi, oi, what’s that supposed to mean?! I’m just motivated, you know? A guy hears reward, and his instincts kick in... you can’t blame me, this is just the will of mother nature."

Minerva let out a hearty laugh, resting her cheek on her palm.

"Yeah, yeah, keep tellin yourself that, brat. But lemme warn ya, not all rewards are what ya expect. Who knows? I might just hand ya a pat on the head and call it a day."

At these words, Adam’s face twisted in betrayal.

"The hell?! You can’t bait me like that, Big Sis! That’s false advertising!"

Minerva on the other hand just chuckled slightly.

Minerva burst out laughing, her grip tightening slightly as she swung him a little.

"Hah! Quit yer whining, boy. You want somethin big? Then ya better make sure ya don’t half-ass this mission. Impress me, and maybe...just maybe, I’ll make it worth your while."

Adam’s expression hardened, his eyes burning with determination at the mere possibility of reward from Minerva.

However this was enough to motivate him.

So much so, he then said.

"Say less! I’m gonna pull off some crazy-ass feat, and when I do, you better come through with a real prize!"

Half drunk, Minerva reaction was rather suggestive.

Because she licked her lips, eyes gleaming with amusement.

"Tch, bold words for a brat still swingin in the air like a damn wind chime."

She said to him.

And before Adam could even retort, Minerva let go.

THUD!

Causing to land face-first into the dirt.

"OW! The hell, Big Sis?! A little warning next time!"

Adam complained holding his nose.

Minerva however just leaned back, stretching her arms as she said.

"Nah!!.... That’s part of the trainin, kid... Life don’t give ya no warnin’s."

Adam pushed himself up, rubbing his sore nose while looking at her, and said back.

"Tch... just you wait big sis! I’m gonna clear this mission so damn hard you’ll have to give me the best freakin reward ever!"

Minerva smirked, rolling her sake cup between her fingers.

"Heh... we’ll see, kid. We’ll see... now then how will you go by horse-back or will you be walking, and just so you know, you will have to leave now."

Adam however just replied back while saying.

"Nahhh... I have been training with Minerva for a while now... I want to try a spell have been working on via the use of my great spirits."

Said Adam, catching Minerva by surprise as she said.

"Hmmm... does this have anything to do with why you were jumping off the roof yesterday, over, and over, and again."

To which Adam replied, saying as such.

"Yea...

"...Now this I have to see... you got my attention bot, let’s see what your new magic could do."

Minerva glanced at Adam and spoke, recalling how, just yesterday, he had stayed up late, jumping off the roof. They had even gone inside, leaving him to his own devices, because Adam had insisted he wouldn’t come in until he managed to summon it.

Whatever that it was, she wanted to help him but realized his Shinso ability would eventually lead him to master anything he wanted with enough training.

And given he came in after 2 this morning, it means he finally managed to pull it off, and Minerva wanted to see what made him do what he did yesterday... Now she shut up and just watched.

However, nothing could prepare her for what Adam was about to do.

"Breath in... Breath out... you can do this Adam, you did last night, after failing time and time again."

"But now it is different, you know the code and format the spirit language needs to be, to make it a reality."

He said to himself and then came silence.

But with the silence, an eerie calm came over the world around them.

The air thickened with anticipation, like the calm before a storm...and Adam’s heart raced, but his mind was clear.

This was it.

His moment to prove it wasn’t just talk...and also maybe impress Minerva.

The magic he had been working on, the result of countless failures, was finally ready to take form before the eyes of another.

He could feel the presence of Estherian, his biological spirit, resonating inside him, guiding him as he went along with the step-by-step magic spell he formulated last night, it was still at a rudimentary level, but it was enough to be useful for the time being.

He stood there, focused, his breath steady as he whispered to himself.

"This is it, Adam. Let’s wow Minerva."

Behind him, the world seemed to hold its breath as the magic circle slowly began to form in the air. It started small, a faint flicker of light before it grew larger, and more complex spirit runes began twisting and curling around one another.

It was long before the results were noticeable.

Adam’s body vibrated with Astrum, and a feeling of power surged through his veins. The magic wasn’t just coming from his Sea; no it was flowing inside of him, and becoming a part of him, flowing through him, drawn from his understanding of biology and the spirit’s power.

Suddenly, the air around him rippled, as if reality itself around the circle bent to his will. Bone-like structures soon began to shape themselves from the swirling magic, emerging from Adam’s back with a low, resonant hum.

CRACK!!

His muscles tensed as they stretched into the form of massive, skeletal wings, each bone delicately yet sturdily molded.

And the sound of grinding and shifting filled the silence.

Then, black feathers soon began to form.

Black in color.

You could hear the sound of his body morphing, his spine changing, and blood splattering all over the ground staining the grass below.

They grew stronger, sharper, and more defined until full, thick black feathers sprouted from the skeletal frame. The wings expanded with every breath he took, stretching outward in all their glory.

Massive....Beautiful, and Powerful.

It wasn’t long before he took his first flap. and the air exploded with a gust of wind. The ground beneath Adam’s feet shook, and dust swirled into the air.

Looking at them his new pair of wings, were far larger than even his own body.

Finally, his wings fluttered once, twice, before they stretched fully, the sheer size creating a massive shadow below his feet.

’Hehehe... I did it quicker this time... thank god during those five years of doing nothing, the books I have read about the monster world have really helped out, especially when explaining the anatomy of the Black Wing Clan in the Nest.’

Adam said to himself.

However, his closest viewer had a different reaction.

Minerva’s eyes widened slightly.

She had been expecting something impressive, but she was not expecting this.

"Well, well, ain’t that somethin’... So that’s what ya been bustin yer ass over, huh?"

She grinned, her voice full of amusement at the spectacle before her eyes.

Adam on the other hand exhaled sharply, feeling the weight of his new wings settle onto his back, they were quite heavy, but not so much to be a hinderance. He flexed them slightly, adjusting to the sensation. His breathing was slightly heavy as he felt pain when he grew them, he still had not worked out the nerves part fully yet, but his eyes burned with satisfaction as he replied back to her.

"Yeah... took me a while to create this spell but with enough training, I somehow managed... to be honest I am not sure if I coded the spell right, it was only after non-stop training that an instinct took over, and managed to create them given I was trying to use biology theory to imitate the harpies of the Black Wing Clan, and as you can see this is the result."

He said to Minerva who looked at him with impressed eyes, and then said while getting up and rubbing her head.

"Tch... gotta hand it to ya, ya ain’t just talkin big for once. But lemme tell ya somethin."

She leaned forward, arms crossed, and boobs jiggling as they face Adam eye to eye from above.

"Ya got wings now, sure, but can ya actually use em... flying ain’t as easy as it looks you know. Even harpies take some time to fly before they are ready, keep in mind even the lowest-ranking harpy can fly at super-sonic speeds when going all out so ya gotta be careful, or you could hurt yourself."

Of course, this made Adam reply back to Minerva as he said.

"To be honest with you big sis, I don’t know how to fly, that’s why this mission you gave me, opened up a good opportunity to train myself on how to fly, this body of mine big sis, as you should already know learn extremely quickly, I will adapt in no time."

Said Adam as he pulled up the map Minerva gave, reading it to see where he would have to go to reach the Ultima clan.

"I see so that’s where they are located, if the mansion is here, then they are here... they are quite deep in indeed... well then big sis, I will see you later."

With those words said Adam, put back the map into his pocket, and stretched his wings out, as Astrum flows through them, and without warning, he did one great flap.

And took off into the air at sub-sonic speeds, like a cross-bow arrow shooting upwards, his take-off was kind of rough but Adam managed to balance himself.

Minerva had her hands crossed as her head was raised high and watched as Adam’s figure grew smaller into the distance.

Seeing this she could not help but say, when pouring herself more sake in her cup.

"Tch... With a body that freaky, can ya even call him human anymore? Shinso status or not, that kinda growth ain’t normal. He is developin at a damn near terrifying rate...way past what any human should be able to pull off. Shit, callin him human don’t even feel right at this point."
