HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 32: Big Ass Bird

Adam had been flying for nearly two hours before he even noticed the sky had changed.

At first, he was too focused on getting better, testing his limits, and pushing his endurance. His black-feathered wings, once awkward and difficult to control, now moved with precision as he maneuvered himself in the air.

It was safe to say that he was finally getting the hang of flying to some degree, well enough to not get himself killed when taking off, and flying in the sky.

But that progress was still something regardless of how small it was, and for that reason, he continues to push himself to new levels, as small as that jump in learning may be.

And with time, each of his adjustments, and each of his corrections felt smoother.

His confidence was rising, no pun intended of course.

"Yeah... just like that Adam... maybe if I do this for a week straight every day, I can probably try my hand at supersonic flight."

He said to himself.

His wings flapping, his body gliding, and his form fluid, everything was going well, and he didn’t hesitate to do some tricks in the air.

As he flew back up, his eyes looked at the sky, causing him to come out of his training trance, and reality finally hit him, causing him to reposition himself, and glide with wind current, leading him towards his destination once more.

Because what he saw was seen as very worrying.

The once blood-red sky had turned an eerie neon green. Massive clouds churned overhead, glowing like something radioactive.

From within them, giant black tentacles uncoiled, moving unnaturally slow, twisting through the air like they were searching for something. Their sheer size was hard to grasp, so vast that they disappeared into the storm above as if they had no end.

Of course, this was nothing new to Adam, he was already used to this sight, it’s something he saw every night.

Even after five years, this world still made his skin crawl.

"Ahhh... yeah let’s not fly up there, Minerva, Rakasha, and Priscilla made it clear, that those things lurking in the clouds are dangerous if I am caught by one, it means my death."

Adam said to himself as he descended lower than he was before...because it was clear to him that flying high up during nighttime was a bad idea.

After all, the Monster World was unlike anything else in this Astrum Feild, when it comes to bizarre danger. Out of the five supernatural worlds that exist, it was the most dangerous, a reality where some of the strongest in the Field would find it hard to survive under normal circumstances.

It wasn’t like the human worlds, that was split or rather divided into 3 other individual worlds, that being the World of the Past, The World of the Present, and the World of the Future. All of these had dangers related to the other supernatural world since the human world is the playground for the other 5 Supernatural Worlds.

So the only real danger there... were other supernatural entities that lingered, or some really overpowered humans, which were small in numbers.

But the other Supernatural World was extremely dangerous as well.

But like some kind of weird twist of fate, as if to prove his knowledge right, at the same time Adam was flying forward her turn and said.

"HAA??...

Adam could feel it in the air...the shift, and the sound of heavy flapping that was not his own, heading towards him, at extremely fast speeds.

It didn’t help either that the Miasma Mist had now descended itself upon the Monster World making it hard to see as he flew through it.

That was how you knew night had fallen here. There were no moons, no stars, no sun to mark time. Day simply ended when the thick blanket of red clouds ceased to be, and the world decided it was night.

And then he heard it.

From behind him, in the thickness of the mist.

A scream.

"What THEEEEE HELL?!"

Not human.

Not animal.

Or anything he was familiar with, to say the least.

And the moment that sound went off, something unexplainable happened.

The sound wasn’t just loud, he felt that it hit him. A crushing force that rattled his very being just by hearing it. His entire body locked up, and his breath caught in his throat. His vision blurred for a second, and then...

Blood splattered through the air.

Adam’s left hand jerked forward in response to the invisible attack he had just received. And when he looked down on his left hand, his eyes widened in horror. Three of his fingers were gone.

"...?!?!...

Shock.

Fear.

Confusion.

He did not know how to react, to his non-sensical injury, nothing touched him yet he bleeds.

"FWUUUCKKKK...

He cried out.

And before he could properly react, it happened again.

The same horrifying shriek tore through the sky.

His chest lurched, and suddenly, he was coughing up blood. A stabbing, unbearable pain shot through him, as if something had been ripped out from the inside.

"UGHH... GAhaaAAAA!!"

He cried out in pain.

He didn’t even need to check, he knew something was amiss in his body, and as if to confirm his thoughts, the voice of the System rang in his head, as she called out to him and said.

『WARNING: INTERNAL ORGAN DAMAGE DETECTED HOST... TAKE MY ADVICE, AND FLY OUT OF HERE... YOU ARE BEING CHASED BY SOMETHING MASSIVE』

Said the System.

Meanwhile, Adam could feel his liver burning.

Like someone had stabbed it or had taken a bite out of him from the inside out.

His vision swam as he snapped his gaze toward the source of the noise, that being behind him, and the moment he did, his instincts screamed at him to move, to do something... ANYTHING!

But...

He couldn’t because in that instant fear took over.

Because that was when he saw it.

"OH... Oh my my God!!"

A shadow against the neon-green sky.

A massive, monstrous bird, its wings stretching across the sky, it was a giant creature, about 13 meters long, and weighed a couple tons for sure. Its feathers were jagged, like shifting blades, cutting through the air as it glides, and flap along.

But its face...

There was no face.... which made Adam think how does it screech with no mouth.

And as if to mock Adam, as he tries to fly away from it.

It screamed again.

Adam barely had time to react, given this was not something you could simply dodge.

"VGRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

The moment Adam heard that scream coming from the mouthless creature.

His right wing vanished, as it exploded in bits of flesh, and sliced at its roots.

One second, it was there.

The next, it was just gone... as the pain of losing a limb followed.

And just like that...he fell from the sky losing altitude.

The wind roared past his ears as he plummeted, spinning out of control downwards. His mind raced, but his body wasn’t responding fast enough. Blood loss, shock, pain... all of this hit him like a train.

And to make things worse.

Above him, the faceless bird circled, it was now in close proximity, as it fixed itself, self, and adjusted its talons to fetch its prey.
