HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 52: Kiera & Nyla II
Chapter 52: Kiera & Nyla II
Nyla’s screams ripped through the night, desperate and raw, a sound that carried the full trauma of everything she had been through. Her body shook violently in Kiera’s arms, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps.
"AHHHHAHHH....hehhheeeeEEEEEE!!...
Each inhale coming from her was a shaky and frantic thing, each exhale a strangled sob that seemed to tear her apart on an emotional level.
Her eyes...those silver eyes that once held so much life in them, at this moment they were wide and unfocused, darting around the dark forest like she was searching for something that would never come.
She gripped the air where her arm should have been, fingers twitching, as though reaching for something, anything to anchor her.
Kiera held her tighter, drawing her closer to her chest, trying to offer her some sense of comfort in the chaos of Nyla’s panic.
"Hey, Nyla... It’s okay...it’s okay...
She murmured softly, trying to keep her voice steady.
"You’re safe now... You’re here with me...It’s over, okay, it’s over...
But Nyla didn’t respond.
Her breath just grew more frantic, her body trembling like a leaf in a storm. Kiera’s heart ached with every sob, but she knew she had to stay calm. Nyla needed her to be strong, to pull her back from the edge.
Kiera took a deep breath, trying to center herself, and gently rocked Nyla back and forth, her voice low and soothing.
"Focus on me, okay? Just breathe. In and out, just like I’m doing; you can do it. You’re not there anymore...you’re with me now."
It didn’t help at first.
Nyla’s breath came in shallow, quick bursts, but Kiera kept going, kept talking, kept pressing her forehead against her sister’s.
Meanwhile, Adam just watches from the sidelines, arms folded as he lies back against a tree. watching this scene play out before him.
This was not his place to get involved, and he did not mean that in a bad way. After all, in what world would a total stranger be able to calm down a traumatized girl going through the worst of her experience over her blood-related sister that said girl has grown up with all her life.
This was one of those rare moments where his help could only go so far. He had already healed the both of them from the worst of it, physically speaking, but emotionally, they would need each other for that, and not him.
As such, he just watches on and stays silent.
"Come on, Nyla, you’re safe. Breathe with me... In... and out.... In and out."
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Nyla’s breathing calmed down, shaky and uneven at first, but it was something. Slowly, the frantic gasps began to match Kiera’s rhythm. It wasn’t perfect, but it was progress.
And for Kiera, that was enough.
"That’s it, Nyla."
Kiera whispered, brushing a damp lock of hair from her sister’s forehead.
"Keep going....Just breathe; you are okay."
The minutes stretched on, the sounds of the night around them fading into nothing as Kiera focused entirely on Nyla. However these few minutes felt like hours, but slowly, the panicked whimpers turned into soft, shaky breaths.
Nyla’s body finally relaxed against Kiera, exhaustion overtaking the fear.
After a while, Nyla stirred, her voice barely more than a hoarse whisper.
"Sis... what happened to Mother?"
The question landed like a punch in Kiera’s gut.
She had been dreading it, but she knew it was coming.
Her grip on Nyla tightened instinctively, as though holding her younger twin sister could keep the truth at bay just a little longer.
But she couldn’t shield her from it forever.
Kiera took a slow breath, letting the words settle in her mind. She couldn’t hide the pain in her eyes when she finally spoke.
"Umm...
Kiera said, stumbling on her first words.
"You see... you see.. ah...
Then her second, clearly hesitant to speak what she knew.
But it was Nyla who spoke, her heart sunk. She already guessed what might have happened, deep down, but she needed to hear it herself. As such, she gave Kiera a serious and pleading look.
As said to her.
"Sissy... please... just... just be honest with me."
Seeing her sister’s desperate glare, Kiera inwardly sighed... As she started to explain what happened. Adam, of course, listened in, as this was valuable information.
"After the Antmen came to the village... after Mother saved you... we found you....
She paused a bit but continued speaking.
"We found youn In pieces."
She said blankly.
"Your right arm was the only thing left intact. You were barely alive, to be honest. I guess you managed to survive cause of your Lore ability, "Stubborn One." That’s the only reason I think you managed to survive for so long."
Nyla’s eyes widened, horror flashing across her face.
She was trembling again, but Kiera didn’t let her pull away.
Instead, she held her close once more, and a moment of silence was shared between the two, as it allowed for the truth to settle in slowly.
However, all things must come to an end, and so too was this silence as Kiera continued.
"Anyways, let me continue... right after that, Mother killed the Antmen who were about to eat you in your unconscious state."
"But they didn’t stop...
Kiera’s voice trembled at that moment as the memories of the large army of Antmen closing in on them played in her mind. They came by the thousands, too much to fight head-on.
However kiera fight on, as she continued.
"The hoard just kept coming sissy... so much of them... there was no end to their numbers I tell yah."
"And to make things worse, we weren’t prepared for an attack of this scale. The Bloom had already weakened us...more than half of the clan was already dead from the virus. The rest of us were too injured or too exhausted from the battle the night before to even fight back."
Announced Keira.
The silence between them was heavy, suffocating.
Kiera’s eyes fell to the ground, her thoughts dark.
She hated saying it out loud like this.
She sure as hell didn’t want to relive it. But Nyla needed to hear it...she, like herself, was a victim of tonight’s attack.
