Chapter 54: Daugthers of The King
Nyla’s ears twitched as she processed Adam’s words, her silver nocturnal eyes widening in disbelief.
"You... You have a letter for our father?"
Adam gave a firm nod, however, he finally caught on to the last word.
"Wait... Father.... your Mewroars daugther?"
"Yeah."
Nyla confirmed, taking Adam by surprise, given this was so cliche like to suddenly run into the daughters of the same exact person’s that the Main character in a novelkiss was looking for.
To question if this cliche scenario was catually real, he gave them one last look and said.
"You two....
He pauses and then finishes his sentence, asking.
"Are the children of Asandar Mewroar?"
Both girls nodded in unison, and as if on instinct, they clasped their hands together in front of them, their identical yet distinct features now clear to Adam.
As they speak.
"That’s right... Asandar Mewroar is our father. We are the proud princesses of the Ultima Clan! But to the world, we are known as the Inazuma Twins. Tradition dictates that daughters of the royal Inazuma bloodline do not take the name of the matriarch’s husband. So remember this name well: Kiera Inazuma! That is me, Lord Adam."
Said Kiera, and then Nyla spoke.
"Like, totally what my sissy said! We’re so different from the mere males of our species. I mean, we’re about 75% Nekomata, all things considered, but...duh, there’s no such thing as a male Nekomata. Still, we’re kinda seen as a purer form of Nekowolves in some ways, but we lean way more on the Nekomata side of things."
Explained Nyla to Adam, as her attitude seems to be rising back to that of the positive.
From there, she continued speaking, saying as such.
"Anyway, in our clan, females are way superior! Any male Nekowolf? Pfft, they’ll always be weaker than a female of the same rank. And if she’s ranked higher? Ugh, it’s not even fair! The same logic applies to all Nekowolves in our clan, too."
Naturally, Adam listened carefully to keep herself informed.
And from what he has gathered from these two, they seem to be a big deal. Then again, Adam himself has no idea how influential Mewroar really is, but he also knows that clan Ultima seems to be a matriarchy of some sort.
So, these two views on men, as a whole, were quite warped.
But as he thinks further about this fact, Nyla snaps him out of it, grabbing his attention once more, and said.
"Oh! I almost forgot... maybe my sister has already introduced me when I was unconscious, but I prefer to do it myself. The name’s Nyla Inazuma, by the way! And Adam, seriously, thanks a bunch! You’re kinda interesting for a little guy! If our clan wasn’t, like, a total mess right now... and if you weren’t a superior lifeform with your superior Shinso genes and high status... I’d totally be putting in an offer to buy your groom price! Teehee!!"
Kiera let out a soft sigh, crossing her arms with an air of refined grace. Her golden eyes met Nyla’s with clear exasperation.
"Don’t tease him, sister."
She said, her voice smooth and poised.
Nyla, however, simply tilted her head, her silver eyes twinkling with playful mischief. It honestly doesn’t look like the eyes of a girl crying her eyes out moments ago in despair to the potential possibility that her mother might be dead.
Just looking at their interaction, from where Adam stands, he can’t help but wonder, as he says to himself.
’Is Nyla bipolar or something... cause goddamn her sadden personality change rather quick.’
But as Adam watched on, the casual conversation got even weirder, as Nyla then said to Kiera.
"Who said I was teasing?"
She chimed, clasping her hands together with a cheerful grin.
"I was totally serious! It’s our clan’s tradition, after all. You know just as much as I do that when a girl reaches maturity, she picks the strongest alpha male around."
Nyla said, putting that fact out there for Adam to hear.
Hell, if her Mother were here, she would definitely be proud. After all, selective breeding in their clan was how they thrived as one of the strongest independent beast clans out there.
Adam leaned back, his eyes narrowing as he thought about the situation unfolding before him. Sure, this was all a bit chaotic, but, honestly, he kinda liked where things were headed with this Nyla chick.
Let’s not beat around the bush, he thought to himself.
He lived for the harem.
He died for the harem.
He was in it to win it.
There was no compromise when it came to this topic.
Hell, he was in it for the thrill of the chase, the passion, the love... it was all part of the game, and he was ready to play.
But as an aspiring harem protagonist of this AU, he wasn’t looking for some quick fling.
No, he had bigger plans.
The slow romance route was more his style. This holds true even more when you stop to think that Adam will inevitably live for all eternity.
Harem life wasn’t just about picking up women left and right.
Anyone could do that with enough charm and time.
But the problem was, if you didn’t build your harem on solid ground, then it wasn’t really a harem...it was just a collection of relationships based on convenience, or worse, politics.
And that? That wasn’t love... At least, in Adam’s opinion, it wasn’t.
Not even close.
True love, real love, had to be built on trust.
It wasn’t about just playing the game; it was about managing your relationships with care, making sure every woman felt valued. Because, let’s face it, one girl might love you more than anything, but if she is not willing to share you with others, then you’ve got a problem.
And it doesn’t take a genius to know what that problem is.
He had made his choice a long time ago, he wasn’t the one-girl type. As much as one girl might love him, if she couldn’t get along with the others, he couldn’t just pick her.
He wouldn’t pick her.
It would hurt, sure, but it would hurt everyone if he chose her and ignored the others. He wasn’t in this to hurt people, but he also wasn’t in this to play favorites.
This was a sacrifice he was willing to make. If he was going to lead a harem, he had to be the pillar, the one who held everything together. That meant managing the balance of emotions, desires, and egos between everyone.
He wasn’t some simpleton looking for a casual fling...no, he was in it for the long haul.
Because if he was going to have the harem life, he was going to do it right.
All the women, all the love, all the drama...it was his responsibility to make sure it all worked.
For them.
For him.
’And for the love that was truly worth pursuing.’
Adam said to himself.
Adam could already see the red flags.
To these girls, he was nothing more than a genetic prize, something to be used for their clan’s future.
A potential breeding tool, in simple terms.
But that was the thing: his genetics were so unique that only one of him could ever exist at a time. They could try, but they wouldn’t get another one for the mere fact he was a one-of-a-kind existence... For that is what being a Shinso Human entails.
Despite all that, Adam couldn’t help but smile.
These girls weren’t bad people; they were simply a product of their matriarchal upbringing. They had their own way of looking at the world, and while it was a bit unsettling to him, he could understand where they were coming from.
To them, love was about power, status, and utility.
It wasn’t about the warm, messy, emotional connection that he valued. He didn’t blame them. He respected their culture, even if it wasn’t his. But there was something off about their thinking, something that needed to be addressed.
Adam took a deep breath, then quietly said to himself.
’This isn’t love... It’s love based on what I can do for them, my strength. No offense to them, but their beliefs don’t align with mine. Thankfully, it’s not so bad that we can’t eventually find a compromise.’
With that thought in mind, he decided to speak up, snapping the twins out of their conversation. He couldn’t help but chuckle lightly, wanting to get their attention in a way that wasn’t too serious but made his point clear.
"Hehehe... You two are quite the pair."
Adam began with a soft, teasing grin.
"But honestly? I don’t mind a romantic relationship...
He paused for effect, letting his words sink in before he continued.
But at that moment, Nyla grinned, licking her lips as she said.
"Ohh... really... so you’re opening the possibility."
To which Adam nodded his head, but what he said next was rather suprising.
"Of course I am. I love the company of beautiful women; or rather, I’m polyamorous, actually. When I get older, I want to live like a true Greek man. To me, that is the only religion worth pursuing."
The twins blinked at him, trying to process his words.
Adam could see they were confused, but he didn’t back down. He leaned forward a bit, a playful but serious glint in his eyes.
"But for now, let’s just start as friends...We’re all way too young for anything serious, don’t you think? It’s better to get to know each other first, let things grow naturally, instead of jumping into things based on emotions or, worse, political motives."
He gave a small smile.
"Marriage is a serious thing, after all."
He let the words hang in the air for a moment, feeling a sense of relief that he had said it out loud.
It wasn’t about rejecting them.
It was about setting boundaries and making it clear that he wasn’t going to just be some tool to be used in their game. He wasn’t interested in rushing into something that wasn’t built on trust and mutual respect.
However, it was their move to decide if they wanted to be his friends, or not.
