HDXD: Omni Harem System-Chapter 64: Becoming a Local

The thick scent of smoke choked the air as Adam soared through the sky, his black-feathered wings cutting through the wind. Below him, Kiera and Nyla sprinted through the dense forest still very much in their wolf forms, their crimson fur blending into the shadows as they raced toward their home.

"We’re almost there, Adam!"

Nyla called out, her silver eyes locked on the distant village.

Adam narrowed his gaze. Through the haze of smoke, he could finally make out the towering 30-meter wooden wall that encased the village.

But something was wrong.

Flames raged within, climbing high into the sky, casting an ominous glow against the darkened treetops. Thick, black smoke billowed upward, curling into the heavens like a funeral pyre.

The moment the twins saw it, their hearts clenched.

For a second, Kiera hesitated.

Keira’s heart melted at the sight, but she remained strong.

But before she could even process the horror in front of her, Nyla was already moving. Both Adam and Keira heard her shouts.

Nyla said as she suddenly began to pick up the pace, and with a desperate cry, Nyla bolted forward, slipping through a jagged hole in the wooden barricade without a second thought.

"Nyla, wait! It’s too dangerous to go alone!"

Kiera yelled, her voice filled with panic as she chased after her sister.

But Nyla didn’t stop... She couldn’t.

Adam hovered in place, watching them disappear into the burning village.

He sighed, shaking his head. He wasn’t too worried...Kiera could handle herself, and Nyla, for all her recklessness, wasn’t weak... He could sense it... Those two have a lot of untapped power, but oddly, something is holding them off from releasing it.

The System said in a comforting voice.

『Your Shinso ability, Local Adaptation, has passively activated due to the influence of three different population types. As a result, you’re about to evolve』

『However...the adaptations are vast. Your body will undergo all of them at once. Brace yourself...this is going to hurt』

The System’s voice echoed in Adam’s mind, but the words barely registered as the pain was unbearable.

His five-year-old body twisted and convulsed as it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, the process looping over and over like some cruel nightmare. Adam screamed in pain.

Blood sprayed in all directions as his tiny form spasmed violently. His teeth fell out in chunks, clattering to the ground, only for fresh fangs to emerge from his bleeding gums. His nails cracked and dropped off, replaced by razor-sharp black claws.

But even after all of this, the pain didn’t stop.

His hair, every strand of it, fell away, leaving him bald for only a brief moment before a new mane sprouted, and he started to regrow his hair back, thicker and wilder than before. It was soft to the touch yet straight and unyielding, each strand as durable as steel. From his skull, a pair of freakish cat-like ears emerged, but their size and shape resembled those of a wolf.

Then, from behind him, a long, black wolf tail extended outward.

His tiny frame stretched, his bones groaning as they lengthened. He was still just a child, just five years old- but his body was now evolving into a more older version of himself, at least by an extra two years.

And despite the insane pain, Adam could feel it...the primal strength that hadn’t been there before.

And as the last of it hit him, he swam in a large puddle of his blood, his body shaking and smoking at the same time.

At this moment, he began to breathe rapidly, in and out, in and out, not stopping, not resting.

And then his eyes open up.
