Reaching behind him, his fingers brushed against something soft and thick.

Slowly, carefully, he pulled it into view.

Looking at what was in his hand, his voice leaked, saying in shock.

He murmured to no one but himself. It was similar to Keria one, but his was black, and not crimson.

His heart pounded as he finally caught a glimpse of his reflection in his own pool of blood that was soaking into the dirt below.

Looking at it, he could see that he still had his normal human ears; however, a new fluffy pair appeared just above his head.

In their place sat a pair of hybrid beast ears, a fusion between wolf and cat. They twitched involuntarily, picking up every little sound in the burning village around him...the crackling flames, the distant screams, the scuttling of something multiple presence moving underground.

And then there were his eyes.

No longer the simple, human orbs he once had, that made his pupils rotate like a galaxy.

Now, his irises glowed a sharp, predatory blue with slit pupils... it was the unmistakable gaze of a Nekomata.

His fingers curled into fists.

And despite all the changes, Adam didn’t feel off one bit.
