Chapter 74: Vampires

Adam trembled against the ruined stone wall, his entire body screaming in agony. His blood seeped into the cracked floor, forming tiny pools around his twitching limbs. His chest heaved with shallow, ragged breaths as he spat blood along with debris from out of his mouth.

"This... This is a peasant vampire?"

He wheezed, wincing.

"AWW!! That hurts... Shit... Cough! Cough! Come on, man... Just what kind of sick joke is this?"

He coughed again, hard, as more blood came out from his mouth.

"COUGH! COUGH!.... Hiyee... Fuck me, that was a brutal throw."

His vision blurred at the edges, a buzzing numbness eating away at his focused mind, but he had felt worse, and as such, even this would be treated as nothing more than a minor injury.

But as he tries to get his shit togther, he cannot help but think.

"Killing this undead bastard would be so much easier."

He argued.

"But that begs the question, how the hell am I supposed to capture this guy alive without killing him?"

Adam muttered under his breath, clearly irritated.

Just great.

"This guy is exactly like Priscilla described, when I asked her just how powerful are vampires."

He grumbled to himself.

"Super speed, enhanced strength, ridiculous durability, sharp reflexes, heightened senses, shadow manipulation, sadism... He has already flexed several of the textbook vampire traits."

His eyes narrowed as he mentally reviewed the rest.

"That still leaves regeneration, weather control, blood manipulation, immortality, animal control, mind reading, intangibility, minor adaptation, self-mutation, flesh control, perfect memory, gravity defiance, dream-walking, astral projection, and telekinesis."

Adam said as he let out a sharp breath, and he could feel the tension creeping into his shoulders.

"Yeah... I definatley can’t afford to get tagged by any of that flesh or blood manipulation crap. Priscilla warned me that some vampires can twist your body into a living sculpture without killing you, leaving you writhing in agony just so they can come back and play with you later."

Adam grimaced to himself in that moment, as the thought alone sent a chill down his spine.

From there, his thoughts drifted back to all those brutal lectures Priscilla had drilled into his head. Hours of her pacing around, smacking him with a fan whenever he zoned out, while she broke down the twisted pecking order of her kind.

She explains their evolutionary hierarchy.

At the bottom, you had the Peasant class...basically the disposable grunts, basically the nameless vampire that tossed Adam through multiple walls moments ago.

Then came the Nobles and Royals, stronger, sharper, more refined, and a hell of a lot more dangerous.

Above them were the True Vampires; they were outliers, and they ruled over the major vampiric families that were more unique than the common royal vampires, as family heads, as they went beyond the royal vampires shared bloodline traits. But even they must bow to the Sacred Ancestors.

However, if True vampires were family progenitors, or a family of progenitor vampires, then Sacred Ancestors would be their family founder and the source of the vampiric bloodline, unique traits, and power.

For that reason, whatever power a royal or a true vampire has that is of blood, then that also means that the Sacred Acenstor would also have all of that and more.

As they are the embodiment of the family bloodline and founders of the family to begin with.

But the real terrors? The ones at the very top? The perfect instance of vampires, the final evolution that a vampire can reach, biologically speaking, they were the very definition of apocalyptic in every regard of the word itself.

To put into perspective of how strong they can be, then the strongest a peasant vampire can be with just their natrual vampiric abilities alone then they can cause widespread chaos, in a large city, or completely destroy it be creating large storms to, or summon fort massive earthquakes to destroy or kill everything in sight.

Meanwhile, Shinso vampires can affect entire universes at once if they get serious. Going all out, they can outright destroy countless realities.

It’s the reason Priscilla has a reverse transformation technique; each time she regresses herself, till she reaches her child form, it suppresses her immense power.

All in all, vampires are a pretty powerful monster species.

In most cases, almost impossible to kill if you don’t have the knowledge or the means to do so.

"But even so...

Adam was determined.

His fingers clenched, cracked nails digging into the dirt beneath him.

"I gotta find a way around this asshole."

But lucky for him, all vampire suffer from being an insanely prideful and arrogant species, despite their insane intellect.

For that reason, Adam began to plan as he thought about his situation.

And it wasn’t long before a plan formed in his head.

And when it did, a cruel, sadistic smile cracked across Adam’s face.

"Yeah... that might work."

Said Adam, as he quickly gets to work.

Footsteps echoed in the distance, slow and deliberate on purpose, crunching over loose rock, as the nameless vampire was coming to finish off its cute little prey.

The bastard’s voice slithered through the cavern like smoke.

Taunting as always, as he take joy in berating his lessers.

"You should’ve stayed in your little kennel, pup."

The voice got closer and louder, as it was full of mockery for Adam’s existence.

"Did you think you’d get out of here with your little fur still intact, mutt? Or maybe you were under the impression that this was supposed to be your big hero moment? Heh. I swear to the family heads, this is why I hate kids...they are stupid as they are uncooperative. You should have escaped with your tails under your legs when your clan matriarch ordered you younglings to do so...while you still had the chance."

Said the nameless vampire as he came out of the debris smoke.

Then he saw Adam.

Half-slumped against the wall, barely conscious, bloodied, and twitching.

A grin curled behind the mask he wore as he licked his lips in delight at the sight before him.

"Ahhhh... would you look at that, he is half dead... Either way, any last words, kid?"
