Heiress' Househusband is a Secret Billionaire-Chapter 312: I Shall Take Responsibility
Chapter 312: I Shall Take Responsibility
After a long soak in the tub, filled with laughter, kisses and whispered affections, Lariette and Ruediger finally stepped out. The water had long lost its warmth.
Wrapping themselves in soft towels, they began drying off. Lariette wore an oversized knit sweater and pajama pants while Ruediger opted for a wool sweater and planned pants.
The night air carried chillness, but the warmth shared between them lingered. The main lights brightly lit the bedroom, the golden glow of the flower lights faded in the background.
Lariette sat on the small cushioned stool before the vanity table, facing the mirror. Reaching for the cordless hair dryer, she intended to dry her hair. Her damp chocolate hair fell in waves down her back.
Realizing what Lariette wanted to do, a smile was carved on his lips. He slowly approached her, stepping into view beside and smiling softly at her reflection.
"Drying your hair? Want me to do it?" Ruediger asked while reaching for Lariette’s shoulders, his head tilting. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Blinking, Lariette chuckled. Instead of looking at his reflection, she lifted her chin to look at Ruediger, "You sure? Another part of your service?"
"Of course," Ruediger said, already moving to stand behind Lariette. Then, he added teasingly, "Your husband wants to pamper you. Shouldn’t you be glad?"
"Hehe~ That’s so true."
Lariette handed Ruediger the dryer with a shy smile. She felt him gently gather her hair in his fingers. He turned on the low setting, then let the warm air blow softly as he combed through the strands with one hand.
As always, his touch was gentle and attentive.
’This feels nice.’
Lariette closed her eyes as Ruediger’s touch and the hum of the dryer lulled her into quiet comfort. He carefully ran his fingers through her locks, making sure every part was blown dry.
As Lariette’s eyes drooped, Ruediger admired her luscious chocolate brown hair. He liked how the light caught the rich hues of brown and gold. Everything about her was perfect to him.
"You have such beautiful hair, Lettie," Ruediger whispered, "I love moments like this. Just us here."
Touched by Ruediger’s genuine remarks, Lariette opened her eyes to meet his in the mirror. She smiled seeing the mellow lights in his emerald orbs.
"I hope we get to have such moments," Lariette said, speaking from her heart, "I want to learn more about you, Eddy."
Her words drew his lips into a grin. Even without words, she knew his heart fluttered. An evident boyish charm flickered across his face, softening her own smile.
Then, Ruediger continued blowing Lariette’s hair dry. They sat in a comforting silence until he was done with his task.
Bending down slightly, Ruediger kissed the crown of Lariette’s head, whispering, "You smell like roses, my dear."
Lariette laughed softly. Turning around, she grabbed the hair dryer from Ruediger, "Now, sit here. Let me dry your hair next."
Ruediger’s crimson locks were still damp. Lariette couldn’t help but wish to blow it dry herself, like how gently he cared for her.
"I won’t say no to your offer, Lettie."
Lariette stood up, pulling the laughing Ruediger to sit on the chair. Then, she assumed his previous role. They stayed in silence, occasionally joking around.
Then, Lariette and Ruediger headed to the kitchen, hand-in-hand. They heard the passing breeze from the outside, rustling gently through the trees. The sun wouldn’t rise until a few hours later.
Lariette rubbed her stomach with a small grin, "I can’t help it. I’m hungry."
Ruediger glanced at Lariette, a teasing smile tugging on his lips, "After all the food and desserts at Aunt Mel’s?"
Narrowing her eyes, Lariette glared at Ruediger, "That was hours ago. And you made me hungry, you know?"
Cackling, Ruediger swept Lariette into a side hug, his chest trembling from the laugh, "I shall take responsibility then. What do you want? Something light?"
"Just something light," Lariette hummed, leaning her head on Ruediger’s shoulder, "Maybe... egg drop soup?"
"Edd drop soup at one in the morning?" Ruediger arched his brows, his eyes gleaming softly, "Consider it done, my lady."
"I can help," Lariette offered once they reached the kitchen.
"You just relax," Ruediger replied, telling her to sit at the kitchen island, "And watch your husband work his charm."
Lariette chuckled, entertained by Ruediger’s actions. She sat while drawing her legs up onto the chair. Resting her chin on her knees, she watched him work.
Ruediger took a few eggs from the counter, then green onions and a bottle of chicken stock from the fridge. Then, he grabbed sesame oil, salt, white pepper and cornstarch.
Soon, hot steam began to rise from the pot as the broth warmed, filling the kitchen with an alluring aroma of simmering comfort. It didn’t take long to prepare a hearty pot of egg drop soup.
Lariette watched Ruediger garnish two steaming bowls of soup with green onions. Then, he brought them over and placed one in front of her.
"Here you go, o’ Lady of Midnight Hunger."
"Hahaha! What’s that? Come, sit with me."
As Ruediger slid on the chair beside her, Lariette cupped her hands around the bowl, breathing in the scent deeply. With a smile, she took a slow sip, then closed her eyes in delight.
"It smells and tastes amazing. Hehe, exactly what I need."
Ruediger laughed, "Hits the spot?"
"Yup!"
The pair sat side by side in the warm kitchen, the rest of the cottage dim and quiet. The breeze outside picked up briefly, rattling a few dry leaves against the windowpane.
Lifting her eyes from the bowl to the man beside her, a flood of warmth and gratitude washed over Lariette’s heart. She chuckled when Ruediger turned to look at her, also smiling.
"Lettie, why are you looking at me like that? Charmed by me, en?"
Her cheeks flushed, Lariette nodded, "I can’t deny that. You’ve thoroughly charmed me tonight."
Ruediger didn’t answer, but his boyish grin was enough to tell Lariette he was beyond delighted. The tips of his ears reddened, almost in the same hues as his crimson locks.
Tonight was the beginning of something new between them.
