House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 174: Tough Decision II
Chapter 174 - Tough Decision II
(Drakken's POV)
"I think it is a good idea." Mya said a she hugged my neck, "Or at least, it's not a terrible one."
I frowned, "What?" I asked, "Are you serious?"
She nodded, "Yes."
"What, did she tell you to come convince me?" I asked with an annoyed tone
We were in my chambers, I was sitting in a chair, when Mya had suddenly come to keep me company. She sat on my lap and hugged my neck as she leaned in and gently kissed my face.
This was after Maegelle had asked me to let her spend some time in The Citadel, which I had told her that I would do no such thing. There is no reason for me to let her go to that place and waste time on ungrateful humans who will reject her instead.
I don't want to take my eyes off her. The last time this happened, it was in Casterly Rock and I don't want that to happen again.
"As a matter of fact, she did." Mya chuckled
I rolled my eyes, "I am not changing my mind."
"She has a good point." She said
"How so?" I asked
"Think of how many people we can convert this way." Mya told me, "A couple dozen people healed by the arts only provided by you...imagine how many they will tell after the fact? Those couple of dozen will turn into hundreds....and those hundreds will turn into thousands.....your influence will reach the entire realm without the need for warring and violence."
"I don't want that." I said with a scowl, "I want my influence to be warring and violence. I crave violence, I want to stain the land with blood. I want to destroy everything around me, I want everything reduced to ashes, I want Chaos to be spread all throughou-"
"I know, My Lord." She cut me off
I looked at her, "Don't interrupt me."
She patted my cheek, "I know that your Great War needs a lot more planning." She said softly, "And you need more time.....within that time, you can build a great following. Imagine.....the Conflict, My Lord...The Trinity becoming a major religion that will rival the Faith's standing....think about it...."
"What?" I said
"You don't see it?" She asked, "The Faith of The Seven has such a clutch on the Realm that they don't agree with worship of the Old Gods.....However, due to peace and the fact that the Old Gods don't pose much of a threat, they won't do much about it. The Trinity, however....a new....a more potent religion.....how do you think they will react?"
I looked down, "Hm....." I said, "Interesting....."
"Now you know what I mean?" She asked, "You read the tomes about Maegor's reign, right? The Faith Militant.....Jaehaerys himself ended them in his reign. Even he knew how dangerous they could be. If The Trinity gets too large, there's a good chance that it could return...."
"And...." I said as I placed my hand on my chin, "A conflict could arise."
"A conflict between religions." Mya said as she leaned closer to my ear, "Don't you want that?"
"I am such a fool." I said with a smirk, "I did not see it that way. I simply focused on converting others solely to fuel me."
"Think about how amazing a conflict like that could be." She said with a chuckle, "How many men of the Faith will you be able to slaughter. The bloodshed....but of course, it takes time. More people must be converted....and Maegelle is doing this.....it could help..."
"I don't trust that she'd be alone." I said
"She won't be." Mya told me, "I'll have agents all over Oldtown, even inside the Citadel. I could have a detachment of Duskguard base themselves outside the city. A warning to Lord Hightower could also be sent, telling him of the consequences should something happen to her. She will be safe, I give you my word, My Lord. I will take responsibility should something happen."
"Tch...." I scowled, "Whatever."
"So...yes?" Mya asked
"Shut up." I said as I stood up, holding her in my arms, "You are quite something, aren't you? How about I reward you for giving me the idea of a religious war."
******************
"I gave it some thought." I said as I walked inside Maegelle's room, "Maegelle...."
She stood up from the chair she sat in, "Drakken.." She said, "What is it?"
I walked up to her slowly, "Do you truly want to do this?" I asked her, "To go to the Citadel and.....help people?"
She nodded, "Yes." She said, "I do. And I will only do it if you allow me, if I have your leave, My Lord."
I reached her and pulled her to me, holding her by the waist, "Don't you dare forget, Maegelle...."
"Oh!" She said as I held her firmly, "D-Drakken....?"
I leaned closer to her, "You are mine." I said seriously, "Mine. Nobody else's...."
She looked at me with a surprised look, "Yes...."
I patted her cheek, "You provided me with a good argument." I said with a slight smirk as I leaned back, "Converting sickly individuals to the Trinity is a good tactic. I approve."
"Y-Yes..." she said, "I am glad you see it that way."
I ran my hand through her hair, gently stroking it. "I will teach you some healing techniques." I said, "I want you to use them to aid you in your quest of righteousness. But should something happen to you, should you be in danger, I will have you returned home."
Her eyes lit up, "S-So...." She said softly, "I can go?"
I nodded, "Seven months." I told her, "Only seven months."
"S-Seven...." She said as she nodded slowly, "W-Well, that is fine. It's not that much, but I can work with that."
"Depending on how many people you convert, I might extend that." I said, "But seven is the initial planned time. Do we have an agreement?"
"Yes." She said without hesitation, "Thank you."
"Don't thank me yet." I ran my hand back to her cheek, gently rubbing it with my thumb, "I think you know how I want you to do just that."
Her cheeks slowly went red, "Oh." She said softly, "Y-You.....you want me to....?"
I pulled her closer to me, "Of course." I told her, "You are my woman, remember. We have not decided to marry yet, but we are together."
"Quite the unorthodox relationship, I admit." She said as she looked down, "B-But....yes.....that is fine...."
"Hm." I said, "Every night until you depart, after the lessons I give you...."
"I will have you."
