Chapter 173 - Tough Decision

(Third Person View)

[Harrenhal, A Couple of Months After The Conflict In The Stormlands Ended.]

"Out of the question." Drakken said as he walked towards a table to pick up his cup of wine, "No."

Maegelle was standing a few feet away, "But why not?" She asked as she had a frown on her face, "I.....this is something I would like to do...."

Drakken turned to her, "You are not going to the Citadel." He told her, "Absolutely not."

"I had been exchanging letters with my brother, Vaegon, when he was there." Maegelle said, "There is a lot of good that could be done there! The Archmaester was willing to let me help heal the sick."

Drakken narrowed his eyes, "What do I care about some sick humans?" He said, "I want you nowhere near that place."

Maegelle walked over to him and grabbed his hands, "This could be good for both of us."

"How so?" Drakken raised his eyebrow

"I....I could be helping people, just how I have always wanted...." She said softly, "And you...you could get people to convert...."

"Is that so?" Drakken asked

"Yes." Maegelle said with a nod, "I am serious, Drakken. This is something I want to do."

"I don't care about people converting to my religion." Drakken scowled

"Isn't that what you wanted?" She asked with a frown

"Not this way." Drakken said as he pulled away and turned around, "That is no way to get people to my side."

"Y-You can't hope to convert everyone through war and fear, Drakken." Maegelle said with a smile, "By doing good, you can also get followers, I know it."

"War and fear is the most effective way." Drakken said

Maegelle walked up to him again and grabbed his hand, "Please." She said, "You can teach me your healing techniques, those from your world that don't require your power. I.....I will act on your behalf, Drakken. If I help many people, I can get so much on your side."

"How long?" Drakken asked

"A-A couple of months...." Maegelle said, "A year.....maybe a bit more..."

"So you're going to abandon your sons for that long?" Drakken said with an angry tone, "Absolutely not." freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"M-My sons?" Maegelle frowned as Drakken pulled away and walked over to the window, "Drakken...t-they'll have their mothers with them....I...."

"They love you as well." Drakken said, "If you're gone, they will be constantly bitching and moaning."

Maegelle looked down, "I understand." She said, "But I hope you can understand that this is something I would like to do, Drakken. You told me I could do anything when I am with you. I have that freedom, don't I? Y-You can have presence in Oldtown, you can have some Duskguard soldiers posted on the Citadel, to keep me safe. You can visit me, too.....but.....I just want to do this. Please, I beg of you....."

Drakken looked at her, "You seriously want to do this?" He asked, "Why? Why bother helping humans?"

"I like helping people." Maegelle said softly, "Over the past few years, it did not feel like I have been doing good....but just like you've said, I have indirectly saved thousands of lives by influencing you....but...I want to directly help people. That is why I wanted to be a Septa, to be a healer...to.....help...."

Drakken gritted his teeth, "I don't want you gone." He said as he looked away, "I don't approve of it."

"Is there something that could change your mind?" Maegelle asked him with a frown, "I really do want this."

"Nothing will change my mind." Drakken said,

"So don't bother."

[King's Landing]

"Oh, look at her....." Alysanne said as she held the crying babe in her arms, "Such a beauty...."

Daella Targaryen laid on the bed, panting slightly as she had sweat on her face, a smile on her face.

"C-Can I see her?" She asked, "M-My daughter...."

Alysanne walked past the midwives and showed the child to Daella who was on the brink of tears, curling her lips as she looked at the babe.

"Your little girl, isn't it an amazing feeling?" Alysanne asked, "I am so proud of you, My Little Flower. You are a mother now."

She gave the babe to Daella who held her gently, "She's perfect....." Daella said, "I love her so much...."

Alysanne smiled as she patted Daella's head, "Yes." She said softly, "What is her name?"

"A-Aemma..." Daella said, "I gave it so much thought. Aemma Arryn....."

"Aemma." Alysanne smiled, "That is a good name, my beautiful girl."

The doors opened, and King Jaehaerys walked in, a neutral look on his face. The midwives all stepped out of the way as he made his way to the base of the bed, his eyes fixated on Daella and the newly born Aemma.

"Did all go well?" He asked the Queen

Alysanne nodded, "Yes." She said, "All is well. It is a beautiful girl, her name is Aemma."

"Aemma." Jaehaerys said, "Aemma Arryn."

Daella nodded as she looked at her father with a nervous smile, "Y-Yes..."

"Hm." Jaehaerys said, "Well done, Daella. I am glad you are well."

"Thank you, Father..." Daella said, "Do you wish to hold her? Your granddaughter?"

"That is not necessary." The King said, "We'll discuss Aemma's future at a later time. I do want her to be raised in King's Landing, however, but House Arryn might disapprove. She is more Targaryen than Arryn, so there is nothing to argue about."

"I...I understand." Daella said, "I would like for us to stay here."

Jaehaerys looked at Alysanne, "How long until she is in a better condition? She just went through her labor." He asked

"Not too long." Alysanne said, "Why do you ask?"

"She is to marry Aemon, remember that." Jaehaerys said as he turned around, "And she needs to give him a male heir."

"I...." Daella said with a look of surprise as Jaehaerys walked away, "M-Mother....."

"Shhh..." Alysanne leaned in and kissed her cheek, "Worry not about any of that, my child. Just focus on rest."

Daella nodded, "I see...."

"Have you heard from your sister? Maegelle?" The Queen asked, "She has been sending letters, asking if you are well."

Daella shook her head, "I have not had the time to answer them, I am sorry." She said as she looked at her daughter, "It's.....things have not been easy...."

"I understand." Alysanne smiled, "Despite everything, I want you to know that your sister still loves you. All of you. She cares deeply for you all, don't let anything tell you otherwise."

"I know." Daella said, "But...it is he that scares me....."

"Yes." Alysanne said softly, "Yes, I know."

"He scares me too."
