I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 250: Aftermath Part 1
Chapter 250: Aftermath Part 1
Initially, he wanted to scare Nathan into not mentioning him at all but the minds of mad people were always...mad so he had brought someone to help.
It was kind of ironic now Ravi thought about, someone who had spent more than 15 years erasing people’s memory to have his own erased. And he would feel it, that gap, always have that feeling that he is forgetting something.
In addition, for Nathan, that might be a feeling that was worse than death. Not that death would be a relief; the Netherworld would certainly welcome him warmly. Very warmly.
The two of them walked downstairs as Ravi was lost in thought about his day’s itinerary. What should he do first? Should he go to the station?
Truthfully, he did not want to meet Nathan and go back to the police station. This entire situation made his nerves so taut; it was as if he was back in the Sentinel Realm.
He did not like it.
The life of living at the edge, the tension, the constant struggle between life and death, Ravi understood that he really did not care for such a life anymore.
Should he clean it all once and rest? That Infernal Covenant, Ravi had wanted to clear them all out.
However, that was not something he should think about now.
He should probably go to the Hospital first and see Lisa. That Nathan, Ravi felt like he should have joined in, beating him last night. Perhaps that would vent his anger somewhat.
"Have you had breakfast yet?"
"Does Cereal count?" Asher asked, "Sage and I had fruit loops for breakfast. That jellyfish kind. The shape is really funny. And then I had some fruits and before I came upstairs, I had some roasted peanuts and some coconut clusters."
Ravi opened his mouth and closed it. Just one week and his teenager had already fallen to eating junk.
Ravi did not even ask about the leftovers. He could not recall when last he cooked went to the farm, or went to paint. It was a little scary how this case had consumed so much of him.
"The man believed to be responsible for the brutal torture and murder of over 40 women across 5 cities has been captured. Authorities are saying that the man was captured by none other than his latest intended victim- a police officer whose name had been withheld for her own protection; who managed to subdue the killer before the joint task force of the Davenport Police Bureau and the Avalon Bureau of Investigation arrived to take the man into custody. The serial killer had just landed in the Capital where he would be interrogated and prosecuted in the upcoming..."
Ravi changed the channel. At least they had finally caught him and Arlen would sleep better.
"Are you feeling fine, do you need to talk to Malik?"
Malik should have gotten the bonus from the Davenport Police Bureau, Ravi had some plans for the money.
"I am fine. Don’t worry about me. Right...Ash, do you want to follow me to see my friend in the hospital?" freēnovelkiss.com
"Do You have another friend aside from Malik? Ouch." Ash laughed as he held his forehead where Ravi had flicked him.
"Cheeky. How about you? How many friends have you made in school?" Ravi headed outside through the kitchen to the garden to know which crops he could use to make a meal for Lisa. It was only proper to visit the patients in the hospital with a home-cooked meal if one was to believe the series Ravi had watched.
Besides him, Asher carried a bamboo basket with some shears, "Four friends." He had a bragging smile on his face when he looked at Ravi who chuckled.
Ravi asked him more about his friends as he stepped into the backyard. The cucumbers were ready and he harvested them easily, putting them in the basket while listening to Asher tell him about how he met his third friend, Mabel.
The name that Ravi was expecting still did not cross Ash’s lips. Were they still more rivals than friends?
Ravi picked around thirty cucumbers and placed them in the basket. He had to make an extra basket to contain them all.
Asher squeezed his face and Ravi chuckled, "I would be making two kinds of cucumber salad. You might like them."
"Is your friend very ill?" Asher asked as he carried the basket inside the house and came back out.
Very ill? Ravi could recall how excited Lisa was to tell him that she had a boyfriend who enjoyed listening to her talk about police work. She was really happy to have a boyfriend, Lisa had grown up poor with a mother who was injured in the Nest Eruption and an alcoholic father. It was hard for her to form attachments.
More than half of her earnings went to her mother and with her influencer job and police work, she did not have enough time to have a boyfriend. She had been so happy to have someone, how could she tell she was sleeping next to a sociopathic murderer?
Ravi could not imagine what she was going through right now. What about Arlen? He had not also been honest with him as well.
"It is not a physical kind of illness."
Asher was quiet for more than a minute, "So she would need someone like Malik?"
Ravi nodded, "Yes, she would need someone like Malik."
"I don’t like my sessions with Malik. I hate remembering some things but I feel better later. It would be hard but she would be alright. Don’t worry."
That had been one of the first agreements that Ravi had made with Malik.
’There is no orphanage in Davenport that would handle the kind of care that Asher needs. It would not be easy but you have to take care of him yourself. Think about it and if you really want to; I would help you. School, therapy, friends, fun, he needs many things to thrive like any other child. Don’t look at me so distrustfully like that...I want money."
That leap of faith, Ravi was so glad he took it. Otherwise, how would he have a child who was as kind and amazing as this boy in front of him?
