I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 273: Trouble
Chapter 273: Trouble
"That was weird," Arlen said as he dropped his phone and looked at Ravi. He moved away from the window and headed back to bed with Ravi.
Ravi was wearing his pajamas bottoms and a light t-shirt. He held the tablet in his hand as he searched through his mail to check if his leave had been granted. It was very hard to grant a leave for a person in compulsory service but Arlen had promised to take care of it for him.
It should come in any moment from now. It was the final thing from his end. They had already bought everything they needed for their trip. He had sent a letter to Ash’s school and Lana had gone with Ash to finalize the distance learning for Ash.
She also told him that his friends were having some kind of hang-out in a burger and ice cream bar to say goodbye to Ash.
’Friends.’ The thought that Ash had friends made him so happy. He would go around in the afternoon to pick them all up.
"What is weird?" He burrowed closer to Arlen who wrapped his arms around his waist.
"My brother is not picking up his calls."
"Oh! Is that weird?"
"Yes. He took a sudden leave yesterday and now, none of us can reach him." Arlen did not think too much about it, "Anouk can be so weird at times."
Has the aboriginal found Anouk already? Ravi could feel like there was a ball of cotton in his throat, "Arlen, it is more than that. I think your brother might be in trouble."
"Trouble? What kind of trouble?"
"The intergalactic kind. I will explain later. But I need to find him first. I can only help if I find him."
Arlen’s blue eyes widened slightly and then narrowed. Ravi watched the worry that filled his eyes and reached out to tuck his hair behind his eyes, "I would not let anything happen to him, okay?"
"That is not your...Okay. Thank you, love." He kissed Ravi lightly on the cheeks and reached for his phone to call his brother again.
"Still not picking?"
Arlen shook his head. He was getting more worried. For Ravi to say there was trouble then the trouble was definitely not something light.
Three missed calls later and Arlen frowned. He began to call his family, moving from the window to the bed and back to the window.
"Yes. Just call the tracker. If it were not urgent, I would not ask. I am not bored." Arlen’s voice was cold as he spoke into the phone.
Ravi stood up and disappeared. He appeared in the kitchen. The box of cereal was still on the kitchen table.
After they had closed the case, Ravi had been cooking a lot so there were more than enough leftovers. The days ahead might not be so easy and they might forget to eat. It was nothing to him but he wanted Arlen to have something.
He opened the fridge and looked through it. He took out some Tupperware and in the next ten minutes, he appeared in his room with a food flask. Ravi had not made much, just microwaved the beef and sour soup with some rice.
"Ravi."
Arlen’s voice was quiet, making Ravi still, and then walked up to him.
"They could not find him. The tracker could not find his signal in Avalon." Arlen’s eyes were sharp, "When you were a sentinel, could you hide a person’s signal if they did not want to be found."
Ravi nodded, "While I cannot do that personally, there are many items from the store that could do the same. A cultivator can also do it easily."
Not just a cultivator, there were many words and as such, there were many people of different species and abilities. Finding or Hiding someone was not rare.
Ravi could find people as well, but it was people he was close to, people he knew that atoms like the back of his hand. Not Anouk who he had met just once.
"The person you felt before, do you think he may have my brother?" Arlen took several deep breaths, he was a Captain in the Police Force and he had undergone various trainings, yet at this moment all he wanted to do was rely on his lover.
"Let us not jump to conclusion." Ravi hurriedly reached out his hands to pull the other party into his arms and hugged him tightly.
Arlen did not resist in any way, resting against his shoulder and even stroking his back as if it was Ravi who needed consolation.
The two of them leaned against each other against the backdrop of the rustling of the tree next to the window. The window frame seemed to have become a picture frame, freezing this moment in a snapshot of time.
"Love, I know you planned to meet my parents after the cruise..."
Ravi shook his head, "Please don’t hesitate to make any request of me."
Arlen chuckled, "Request number one. Take me home."
After a few seconds, nothing happened and Arlen looked down at Ravi. Ravi’s ears and cheeks were a little flushed, "Someone just said...Ah!"
Ravi rubbed the spot that he had pinched fiercely and coughed, "I have not been to your house before. So, I would not make an accurate trip."
Arlen nodded and took out his phone, "I would call a ride then. Malik..."
"He is not around." The first thing that Ravi did when he woke up was spread his power around but he could not find Malik. Malik was not even in Davenport anymore.
Ravi did not search for him anymore. Malik would be safe, he just had to believe that and focus on finding Anouk.
"Just put it on the map. If I see the miles, I can narrow it down."
"So like a GPS transporter." Arlen teased as he typed in his address and gave it to Ravi.
Thinking again, he sent his father a short message so he would not be too surprised.
Ravi looked at the map and nodded. He held Arlen but then paused, "Just a minute." He said and hurriedly rushed to the wardrobe. Urgent or not, he was meeting his lover’s family for the first time
