I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1189: Selling him out
Chapter 1189: Selling him out
Meanwhile...
"How did the meeting go?" Ivy came up from Dominic’s side as soon as the man left the conference room. "Good?"
Dominic didn’t answer, but instead glanced at her. "You are okay."
"Hmm?"
"I didn’t mention it earlier because I had a lot of things to settle, but now..." he slowly peeled his eyes from her. "He hadn’t called?"
"Oh, that’s what you want to ask?"
"Don’t pretend you are surprised."
"I’m trying to be professional and not talk about my personal affairs."
"But you always meddle with my personal affairs."
"It’s my job to meddle with your life." She raised her brows briefly, smiling. "You’re not a businessman anymore, Dom. You’re a minister. Your public image is one of my tasks aside from arranging your meetings and organizing your schedule. It won’t be a stretch to call me your work wife."
"I don’t like the ring to it."
"Neither do I, but I have to suck it up since the pay is good."
"Not as much as you earned when you ran your own company."
"That’s right."
This time, Dominic glanced at her. He and Ivy had shared many small talks in the past. However, he could tell she was obviously avoiding a particular topic. The moment she mentioned being his work wife was already a giveaway. There was no way in hell Ivy would call herself that if she didn’t feel the need to use it.
"Fine." Ivy clicked her tongue in irritation, glaring at him. "The question is not whether he called or not. You should’ve asked me if I answered."
"You didn’t?"
"I can’t."
"And why is that?"
"Because I don’t want that to be the last memory I’d remember if he had fallen." She shrugged, jogging her steps to open the door for him.
"Ivy, next time you open a door for me, you’re fired," he warned as he stepped out of the establishment, pointing a finger at her.
She chuckled and rolled her eyes, following a step behind him. "I’m your secretary. Dane Zhang used to do that for you, and I’ll do the same. Now, if you’re going to say I shouldn’t because I’m a woman and you’re a man and that you should be the one opening the door for me, save it."
"That’s not the reason. Like you said, I am now a minister and I have to take care of my public image. If people find out that a woman opens the door for me, that will be an opening to attack my character."
"Fair enough." She nodded, stopping when he halted in front of the car that was waiting for them outside the building. "Dom, once this is over... what are your plans?"
Dominic faced her and held the door open.
"Are you going to abdicate your post?" she continued. "I mean... you and Heaven — I still think you two need to talk."
"We already did."
"Dom."
"Ivy, instead of asking me what I plan once this is over, ask yourself." He raised his brows, giving her a knowing look. "Once this is over, what are yours?"
Ivy pressed her lips and maintained a weary smile, shrugging. "That depends if he... gets out of there alive."
Dominic straightened his back and sighed heavily. He already figured out the reason she didn’t answer Tiger’s call, even when they knew it was safe. Because if she did, it could be the last time she would hear his voice. Now, others would say that was much better than not hearing from him at all if Tiger ended up dead. But he could understand her. Not being able to talk to the man she loved would give her a big push to make sure she could do a good job so they could reunite.
"I’m scared, Dom," she confessed with a forced smile. "But I know missing him isn’t gonna help, nor it is something I want to feel right now. I need to get rid of this fear by making sure whatever he wants to tell me in that call, he could say in front of me."
"At this point, all I can say is we hold on to that faith." Dominic nodded at her reassuringly. "Let’s go. Axel’s been waiting for us at the airport."

[Oxley Mansion]
"Madam, everything is ready, just as you instructed."
Florence slowly lifted her eyes to Nigel, who stood several steps from the divan where she was. She kept quiet, observing the man from head to toe.
"Good." Florence nodded in satisfaction. "Did you confirm if Charlotte snuck onto the plane?"
"Apparently, she wasn’t caught in any of the cameras."
"So, she’s really in Hera’s custody?" she scoffed, chugging down the little wine in her glass. "Hera will attack anytime soon."
A glint flickered across her eyes as the corner of her lips curled up into a smirk. "You may leave, Nigel."
"Madam, about the young mistress —"
"Forget about her." Florence waved dismissively, acting differently than earlier. "I’m not letting Hera use Charlotte as my weakness. If she kills Charlotte... then I have more reason to kill her."
Nigel secretly clenched his teeth and lowered his head.
"Now, leave me alone." Florence watched Nigel reluctantly leave without saying his piece. She wasn’t interested, knowing he would simply express his concern about Charlotte.
When Nigel closed the door, Florence took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Reopening her eyes, she dialed someone and wait for it for someone to pick it up.
"It’s me," she said, emotionless. "How’s the end of your deal?"
The person on the other end of the line smirked and said, "He took the bait. And now, he’ll be on the plane with me."
Florence smiled in satisfaction, nodding. "Good work."

[Back to Dominic]
Dominic, Ivy, and Axel, who waited for them, entered the private plane. As soon as they entered, they caught sight of Lukas Silvers. Lukas looked up and smiled, putting his phone down as he rose from his seat.
"Minister," he called politely, watching Dominic place his phone inside his suit pocket as if he were on a phone call just now. "Were you just on a phone call selling me out?"
Dominic offered a short smile. "It’s the same question I would like to ask you, Mister Silvers. Should I be on the same plane as you?"
