I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1227: Her words
Chapter 1227: Her words
Hera jolted as she felt the room shake as if there was a sudden earthquake. Everyone was looking at her with disbelief, especially the family leaders. Even Lukas was rendered speechless, his mouth was almost at the floor.
The only ones who weren’t surprised by it were the few members of the Reapers present and Dominic. They just shook their heads and laughed to themselves.
What was surprising about that?
"Ms. Cruel, what are you saying?" the young Mr. Ashton frowned. "You got four families at your beck and call, and you’re saying you don’t want it?"
The young Mr. Capeti nodded. "We can give you everything you want, and with our connections, all of your crimes can disappear."
Hearing this, Elliot frowned in displeasure.
"Haha." When Lukas recovered, he couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. "How did I not see this coming?"
The three families came to see her early this morning, telling her they would back her up. Hera just rocked her head and said, "Okay."
Lukas should’ve known why Hera didn’t seem to care much about their morning meeting before this.
"You are not making any sense!" Mr. Ebonhart was a little enraged because he felt like she was playing with them. "Who in their right mind would retire right after they got a hold of power? You can’t just give this away, and to Charlotte, of all people!"
All the previous leaders of the families were power-hungry devils. All of them secretly wanted to seize control of the entire Secret Society. But with the existence of each other, doing it was harder than one could imagine. Now that someone successfully put the rest of the family to subservience, she wanted nothing to do with it!?
"I think you didn’t hear me clearly, Mr. Ebonhart." Hera clicked her tongue. "I clearly said I want to keep the entire structure as it is. Meaning, it’ll be the same as before. Charlie will take charge of the Oxley Family under the guidance of Nigel. Nigel will be the interim head until Charlie is ready to take full control of the family."
She casually leaned back in her seat. "About the secret society losing faith or your people losing faith in the family. I assumed you guys could handle that. And also, aside from charities and help, don’t you meddle with the events of the outside world."
Everyone took a moment to process her remarks. Their eyes were all fixed on her. For some reason, they were trying to detect any sign she was joking. They even thought this was simply a test. But after observing her more, they understood she was being serious.
Hera didn’t want anything from them.
It was equally shocking but also astonishing. But then again, they thought Hera had already triumphed over all of them. Why would the winner want to exploit the losers more?
Their shocks slowly turned to admiration.
Suddenly, the once frightening woman who would control the secret society became a person they looked up to. Especially for the young family leaders. In their minds, she was the standard of being a leader. A true person in power.
Mr. Ebonhart was also pleased, a bit embarrassed for judging her so soon.
As for Lukas Silvers, he could simply admire Hera. Glancing at the young leaders, he was grateful to her for setting up a good example. This time, Lukas was certain change would start in the Secret Society, just like how he had always wished.
The previous leaders of each family, except Mr. Ebonhart, often sought more power and control. How Lukas became the head of the Silvers was a bloody chaos. But even before he won that battle, he promised not to put his family and his people through the same sufferings he went through just being part of the Silvers Family.
They were renowned as families, but there was never a sense of family in them. If anything, the real concept of family was an alien thing to each of them except the Ebonharts.
"Behave yourselves." Hera jerked her chin, earning everyone’s attention. Her tone was mild but still laced with authority. "Don’t forget the main purpose of why the Secret Families chose to live in seclusion and why the secret society exists in the first place."
"Do good, help those who need it, fight the evil, and don’t mishandle the power you hold." Hera slowly pushed herself up from her seat, scanning the faces around the table. "And most importantly..."
She paused while everyone held their breaths.
At this point, they were absorbing her words of wisdom like a sponge. Even Mr. Ebonhart and Lukas were listening attentively, pleased that she was aware of the real purpose of the secret society and the secret families. Hence, they were expecting more words of wisdom from her."
"Most importantly, don’t you bother me again, okay?" she snapped her tongue.
Everyone blinked, tilting their heads. ƒreewebɳovel.com
That was the words of wisdom they were waiting for?
For a second, they were rendered speechless. They were expecting so much from her, but she was done imparting her wisdom. Did she just say the most important thing here was not to bother her?
Hera sighed and shook her head in disappointment. "That’s all." She knocked on the table, giving them the sign she was finished and that this meeting was over.
At the same time, Dominic rose from his seat. His wife said what she wanted to say, and thus, there was no point in overstaying their stay.
When Hera turned her head in his direction, she smiled. "Let’s go?"
Dominic nodded, extending his hand as she skipped her way to him. Hera didn’t care if showing her affection would hurt her reputation among the family leaders.
The Reapers and Elliot Dunkell also rose from their seats and followed her.
But just as Hera reached the door, she stopped. She smiled at Dominic before she looked back at the members of the secret families.
"One more thing, I might’ve retired, but the moment I hear that the secret society is causing troubles again..." her eyes sharpened as a murderous glint flickered across them. "The entire secret society will cease to exist. Considered yourselves warned. This is just how far my mercy goes. Don’t force me to come back here. It’ll be the biggest mistake of your lives."
