Chapter 1228: Millionaires club

"... considered yourselves warned. This is just how far my mercy goes..."

Hera smirked before she faced her beloved Dominic. Her smile deepened, squeezing his hand as they strode off hand in hand. Her smile was short-lived the moment they walked out of the meeting room.

Waiting for her outside were the members of the Reapers.

Hera scanned their faces and immediately knew they were waiting for her. "The hell are you waiting for? I’m not giving out any bonuses if that’s why you’re here. Over my dead body."

"You’re poor dirt. What the hell are you talking about?" Primo scrunched up his face in disdain.

"If there’s someone who will most likely beg for money, that would be you," Joker said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"That’s right." Moose nodded and then beamed. His eyes sparkled with a money sign, rubbing his hand as he approached Dominic’s side. "Mister — I mean, Minister Zhu, you see, since everything is over... why not return the money to Hera?"

Hera’s face turned sour because Moose looked like he was a merchant about to rip off an innocent, hardworking salaryman.

"What do you mean, return?" she grumbled. "That’s my dowry!"

"Have you not got paid yet?" Bear cocked his head to the side, confused. He had been getting paid on time during the entire time. Hence, he didn’t have any shortage of funds since he was under Dominic’s payroll.

Standing beside Bear, who came from the meeting with Hera, was Ram. "I didn’t know they were waiting to get paid. I’m dying. How about I give away my assets..."

Moose’s eyes lit up, but then Ram continued.

"... how about I give away my assets to charity?"

The excitement in Moose’s eyes disappeared faster than a blink of an eye. He looked at Ram in dismay. Why was Ram stopping mid-sentence?! Does he know the damage this habit of his could cause to someone?

"Well, we usually get our money from commission works..." Wolf rubbed his chin. "Except those she sent to a mission, most of the reapers earn their keep. But recently, we hadn’t gotten any commission because the problems we had were a direct attack on the organization."

He then looked at the young ones and smirked. "In other words, I was getting paid during all this time because Hera hadn’t stopped the automatic payments she sends us."

"The one grandpa is clueless, the other one doesn’t care, and then the last grandpa just wants to gloat," Moose scoffed in disbelief, describing all the grandpas with them.

"This is unfair!" Joker pointed at Hera angrily. "How come you said you were poor dirt, but still continue to pay those you sent out without fail?!"

Hera flinched and looked at Wolf with bewilderment.

"Oh!" she pounded the bottom of her fist against her palm. "I forgot I had an account that auto-releases their salary. Joker, didn’t you set that up yourself?"

Many years ago, Hera threw a portion of her wealth into a swiss account that could sustain those under her payroll for the next twenty years. Hera was a busy person and was always out and about. Releasing payments was something that could easily slip her mind. Hence, the account. After all, the people she sent out like Wolf and Ram to different parts of the world couldn’t take commission.

Simply put, it fell under a long-term commission with Hera as their client, their own boss.

Hearing this, Moose scoffed and looked at Joker in disbelief.

"You knew about it too?!" he was speechless.

Joker was also lost for words, only reminded about the account now. He was the one who set it up, but he had forgotten about it completely!

"That’s why Tracy and Victor always have the money." Fig nodded in realization while smelling a beef jerky in front of him. "That makes sense."

Dominic assessed Moose and Joker, who were very active about this. Even though he understood the money flow in the reapers, they still needed funds to recover from their losses. After all, Joker used all of his inventions in this last showdown and Moose had a natural anxiety about a stagnant cash flow.

Giving them their payout shouldn’t be a problem. But how much was enough for them? Dominic immediately thought of the big numbers.

All the members of the Reapers were multi-millionaires. They were more suited to be called millionaires club.

Tiger alone had tens of billions in his account.

While Dominic pondered, Hera’s attention was stolen by Tiger. She squinted, noticing that Tiger wasn’t saying anything. It was as though Tiger was physically here, but his mind, heart, and even his soul were somewhere else. Yet she could feel the good mood emanating from him.

"No, I will not lose!" Hera blurted out, magneting everyone’s attention back to her. She faced Dominic with determination and said in all seriousness, "Darling, let’s get back to my ward before we leave this place."

Dominic raised his brows while the rest tilted their heads to the side. All they saw next was Hera pointing a finger in Tiger’s direction while saying, "Look at him — he’s sparkling! This only means he and Ivy had a good time last night. Let’s have a good time too!"

"..."

Everyone looked at her blankly, speechless.

’Wasn’t she listening to their discussion?’ Elliot, who easily became a backdrop in this situation, couldn’t stop the twitch on his face. He found himself silly once again as it was obvious Hera and Dominic weren’t just interested in each other.

At this point, Tiger snapped back to his senses. Hera’s fierce voice managed to reach his ears even though he was leisurely reminiscing about last night’s event.

The corner of his lips curled up triumphantly, looking down at Hera as if he found her pathetic. "Heh." Last night was akin to winning the lottery and gloating it to Hera without gloating it to Hera was a nice add-ons.

Hera’s eyes lit up with agitation, now even more determined. Even though she had a good time with Dom, nothing happened. They felt so happy and at peace, they ended up cuddling and talking about anything until they fell asleep in each other’s embrace.

But before she could play her pity card, Nigel’s voice was heard.

"Miss Hera," he called.

Everyone intuitively gazed in their direction, only to see Nigel walking behind Charlotte. Beside Charlotte was Ulysses. At the same time, Axel came in from the other side because his brother was taking so long. He thought something terrible happened at the meeting.

"Hera!" Charlotte beamed and rushed to Hera. "Nigel told me about your financial problems. You can take our family’s money!"
