Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 199: Another Fall
The trio soon joined the others in the lobby, hands filled with tools necessary for the specialists to do their jobs, at least to some degree.
They’re not complete as they’re specialty tools but it was definitely better than nothing.
Well, to Abu and Liam, anyway. At the very least, they still had the experts in search and rescue as well as chemical and hazards, so all was not lost. They just had to be extra, extra, careful.
There were also more basic tools in the set Khalifa brought, given to everyone.
For example there were multitool which were useful in various basic tasks like cutting, screwing, etc. There were also flashlights, first aid kits, communication devices, as well as ropes and harnesses. There were even crowbars.
Anyway, it was all very amazing.

"Where…" Abu asked, looking behind them towards the door.
"Coincidence," Hugo said, "You forget we’re in a science complex."
"I see…"
That indeed made sense.
They ignored Paul, who was in the corner, poor like a wet dog, but he made no movements at all. The aura around him was understandably depressed.
Kylo and the others refused to look at him. Killing him would do nothing but only make them heavier, so they didn’t.
He didn’t deserve that peace.
Anyway, the group finally started to resume the rescue. Of course, they helped Paul to another room. Although Paul was unlikely to be able to do anything in his situation, they weren’t comfortable with him knowing their plans. .
Kylo put out the map. Apparently, the underground laboratory was so huge that even if they were far from the entrance, they would soon be far above it.
While they planned to move together, but after some discussions they decided to still have three groups in the event of accidents and they separate.
Each group would be clustered closer together and, should they have to separate, there was also a clear distinction of groupings. Each group was equipped with at least one radio as well.
After making a preliminary route, they decided to climb towards the second floor to use the ’air route’ to minimize conflict with the mobs.
One by one they filled up the stairs. It was just that Kylo, one of the last ones out, paused and looked at Paul.
A not-so-distant memory came to mind. It was that time when the apocalypse had just begun, where he and his team were running after the massive amount of zombies that came after them.
Paul… he blocked zombies with his body at the time, and he got lucky the zombies merged and they got stuck.
They found Khalifa’s container shortly after, but he never forgot a soldier’s sacrifice.
His fist clenched, but at the same time it would be stupid to bring a invalid traitor to such a sensitive trip.
Hugo looked back and saw the man’s conflicting face. Oddly enough, sharing the same woman and the same bed gave for a bit of a bonding experience between them.
He walked past Kylo, startling him a bit. As he strutted towards the betrayer, he created two canes with his ability. He threw them in front of Paul, making the two other men in the room look at him.
Paul blinked as he absorbed what was happening and whipped his head to them in disbelief.
"Your survival will be up to you."
He also looked at Kylo, in case he said anything, but the man was just staring. Without sending a word, the major simply turned his head to Hugo.
"Let’s go," was all he said, without any mention of the cane, leaving Paul on the floor with unknown thoughts.

They chose a window towards the next building in their target direction. Khalifa summoned her powers to create a short ice bridge, right above the mobbing monsters.
"We need to cross quickly," Khalifa said. The buildings above ground weren’t very tall, and just a few stacking up and the zombies would be able to reach them.
The group was very fast, even the injured soldiers, and they went from building to building in this fashion until they couldn’t, as no buildings were nearby anymore.
But there were still plenty of zombies.
They sighed, it seemed that there was no choice but to go on the ground to their last target building in Sector A, a building right above the laboratory’s main core.
The group looked at each other as Kylo set a primary route for their travel down.
Unexpectedly, before they could move to implement it, someone sounded the alarm in a building, attracting all the zombies to that direction.
ROARRRR!!!
They turned in the direction of where it came from. Roughly, they could tell, it was the building they had just been to.
It was Paul.
He was definitely the one who sounded that alarm. It was continuous and loud. It was likely that with all those zombies… a few would’ve gotten past and reached Paul.
They waited for the zombies nearby to clear as the group looked at each other with complicated expressions.
They quickly gathered back their wits and began moving. Cauis created 3 slabs of decreasing height for ease of way.
Soon, all of them were on the ground and sprinting to the target building.
Unfortunately, there were zombies from another side of the area—that had probably been trapped—escaping at this moment, hurtling what seemed like hundreds of zombies in their direction.
"Hurry!" They yelled. Although they could handle this, they didn’t want to expend so much energy when they could avoid it.
They entered the door and killed the zombies from inside who went at them.
They blocked the door of the building, with Hugo and Cauis adding added walls for good measure.
Bang! Bang!
They gulped, looking at the door as well as their surroundings for any more threats. It was only when they confirmed there was none that they started to study their new location.
They were now in the circular lobby with a high ceiling, surrounded by an interior balconies heading towards the upper floors.
They soon realized a part of it had somehow been destroyed, probably by explosives.
Kylo looked around, "There are plenty of soldiers and weapons here," he said, "Strong forces must’ve been used against zombies when they appeared."
Hugo sneered, "Disproportionate force, if you ask me." He said, this was the downside of having weapons ready at the hands of power hungry stupid people.
Who would use bombs inside a building? A lot of people probably died from that rather than zombies!
He wasn’t wrong.
When the pandemic happened, they quarantined all the affected in the building in one room.
Unexpectedly, their number and strength made them escape and, in panic, one of the civilians near soldiers took a grenade in their distraction, throwing it at the horde.
A lot of people died unnecessarily that day.
Anyway, this had nothing to do with them, and they just separated to find the access they needed. In the guide, it was in the left wing of the building, which happened to also be where the bomb was triggered.
It didn’t come as a surprise then that the access to the laboratory was blocked.
Although they could move it, it would definitely take a while. At the same time, they could hear the scuffling zombie mob outside the door, threatening to break through, as well as the surviving mobs within the building.
Kaize gritted his teeth.
"Things couldn’t get worse than this!"
He would soon realize that he spoke too soon. Because, somewhere in the scuffle, the ground shook and a part of the floor broke, and…
It took Khalifa, who was standing idly in a spot, along with it.
