Chapter 260: Chapter 258 It’s Been a Year
Kate stared blankly at Adrian, utterly clueless about what she should do. She was lead outside like a puppet until they nearly reached the lobby when she suddenly snapped back to reality, violently jerking her hand away and breaking free from Adrian’s grasp.
“Don’t touch me!” she yelled indignantly, but she turned her head away upon meeting Adrian’s gaze.
“Alright, Kate, don’t be like that,” Adrian said gently, glancing at a few people passing by in the corridor before taking Kate’s waist again, “This is a public place, after all.”
Kate, with her head bowed, muttering to herself, made a few attempts to push him away, but her resistance was half-hearted. By the time they walked out of the corridor and into the lobby, she was still held tightly in Adrian’s embrace.
Reaching the door, the attendant had already brought over two cars.
“Is that your new purchase?” Adrian asked, looking at the red Lotus “It matches your outfit today.”
“It’s new,” Kate replied, flustered and seemingly out of sorts, covering her forehead.
“Take it back, I’ll have someone pick it up tomorrow,” Adrian told the attendant, then he escorted Kate to his Ferrari and opened the car door for her.
“Wait, what’s going on here?” Kate only realized something was amiss after sitting in the car and reached to open the door immediately.
“I’m taking you home, Kate,” Adrian said calmly, holding her hand.
As if possessed by something, Kate withdrew her hand and sat in the passenger seat with her head down, silent, letting the sound of the wind whistle past her ears as the car started moving. A heavy silence hung in the air inside the vehicle until Adrian suddenly laughed.
“My dear, shouldn’t you tell me your current address?” Adrian asked with a smile.
Kate glared at him and finally gave an answer through gritted teeth “Deconis Street, number 121.”
After this brief exchange, the car fell silent once more. Adrian drove attentively, while Kate continued to stare blankly outside. It took roughly twenty minutes for the car to arrive at Kate’s independent villa on Deconis Street in the West Forest District.
“Just stop here,” Kate said, her voice filled with panic as she rushed out of the car and hurried to the door. She fumbled in her purse for several seconds before finding her keys, but then she struggled to fit the key into the lock.
“Let me do it,” a hand reached from behind and took hold of her keychain, startling Kate into a shriek.
“Do you need to be that nervous?” Adrian said, chuckling as he unlocked the door and stepped into the villa.
Kate remained outside for several minutes before she stormed in furiously, demanding, “Weren’t you supposed to leave?”
“When did I say I was leaving?” Adrian replied, grinning, “Can’t I come in and sit for a while?”

As he spoke, he surveyed the living room “Frankly, the place is nicely done, good color scheme, simple but comfortable and relaxing. How much did it cost?”
“It’s rented,” Kate said, slumping into the couch with a weary sigh, “I don’t have that kind of money to buy a house. I have tuition to pay and a life to finance. Besides, I don’t often stay in the city.”
With that, she suddenly sprang up, stomping her foot in frustration and glaring at Adrian “Damn it, stop changing the subject! I didn’t invite you in, Ed! You’re invading my private space!”
“Is that so?” Adrian shrugged nonchalantly, settling himself on the sofa and continuing to look at her with a gentle gaze, “If you want to call the police, go ahead.”
“I’m serious!” Kate said through clenched teeth, staring at him intently. After a while, she reluctantly went to the fridge, grabbed a random can of beer, and without looking, pushed it toward Adrian “Fine, drink this and then leave.”
“Do you really hate me that much, Kate?” Adrian asked without even glancing at the beer can pushed in front of him.
“Yes, I hate you! I hate seeing you! I wish you would disappear from my sight right now!” Kate exclaimed loudly, her chest heaving; after speaking, she promptly turned her head away, covering her nose, lost in thought.
Adrian sighed softly, stood up, and sat beside Kate, turning her to face him, “Do you know how much I’ve missed you?”
Without waiting for the lady to respond, he cupped her face and kissed her deeply.
Adrian caressed Kate’s cheeks tenderly, her face flushing, her eyes still holding a hint of frenzy. But her body shivered lightly, soon becoming alert, and she forcefully pushed Adrian away, sneering in an attempt to stay cool, “How much you’ve missed me? Come on, Ed, what you probably miss more is Monica, Julia, or that girl at tonight’s dinner!”
“So you’re sure I haven’t thought about you?” Adrian retorted immediately.
Kate was momentarily stunned, and before she could react, he had embraced her again, kissing her lips anew.
“No, never again, it’s been almost a year. A year ago, I foolishly let you go, now I will never make the same mistake again.” Adrian answered, even as he began lifting her skirt.
“Please… Ed… it took me so long to get you out of my heart… I don’t want this… you don’t… you don’t love me…” Kate gasped out, her gaze growing increasingly frenzied.
As she cried out, she quickly came to her senses, suddenly cradling her face and softly sobbing in shame.
“Tell me, darling, how long has it been since you’ve made love?” Adrian suddenly stopped his advances.
“Three… three months…” Kate stuttered, her voice trembling.
“Really?” Adrian questioned.
“Half a year… half a year…” Kate admitted.
“Oh?”
“Fine, fine!” Kate suddenly cried out loud, “I haven’t had sex for a whole damn year! Not since I left you! Are you satisfied now? Happy now? You bastard!”
When Kate awoke again, the sunlight streaming through the window was almost at its zenith. She lethargically lifted her head, brushed the long hair from her forehead, and squinted her eyes, only then realizing she lay naked beneath a blanket on the bed in the bedroom. Scenes flashed through her mind, causing her to frown, but then her expression softened to one of despondency because apart from her, there was no one else in the room, no sound of water from the bathroom – the situation was self-evident.
Kate gave a bitter smile and sighed, about to get up, but she collapsed back onto the bed as soon as she propped herself up. Only then did she remember how wild she had been last night; it had taken several hours to completely release the year’s accumulated distress. Waking up naturally left her limbs weak, and considering the looks of things, she would probably have to lie in bed the whole day.
That might be for the best. Kate turned over, curled up embracing her arms, and closed her eyes. A good day spent lying in bed would allow her to stabilize, and then, perhaps, she could conclude…
The sudden sound of the door opening interrupted her thoughts, followed by a familiar voice at the doorway, “Hey, baby, are you awake now?”
This is… this must be an illusion! Kate was startled internally and began to mutter to herself, squeezing her eyes even tighter.
“Okay, stop pretending to be asleep,” that voice teased, “When I left you were sprawled on the bed, but now you’re curled up, don’t forget I never miss a detail.”
Kate could no longer contain herself and immediately turned over. (To be continued. For the continuation of the story, please visit www.qidian.com, where you will find more chapters, support the author, support genuine reading!)
