Limitless The Strongest Revenant-Chapter 938: Gran-gran? [1/2]
The Tokoloshe or Dream Demon flex its huge body as it roared. It reminded me of a gorilla that tried to look intimidating. But it ended there. He tried. The pink demon that looked like a fucked-up rock formation didn't scare me in the least.
"Alfonso."
[Yes, Father, firing APFSDS.]
The Challenger 2's turret adjusted itself. Much like Assistant number 1, it appeared that the Dream Demon didn't know what a tank was. Smirking, I couldn't wait to see his face.
BANG! The chaotic storm that followed the 120mm gun's shot ruined the atmosphere. It shook the ground and trampled the air. But none of that mattered. My eyes remained glued to the Tokoloshe.
"AAAARGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!"
As expected, the demonkin couldn't tank a standard round and had over 70% of its body blown away. The only parts remaining were its head and half a shoulder. Its entire torso was gone. As for its legs, only its foot remained. Everything above the ankle vanished.
[Shall I begin IF-Restore on Number 2 my lord?]
"Hmm. We should, but I still need to exorcise the other princes. And I am not in the mood to play with only one Dream Demon."
[Oh! Then can I play with him, Father? PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!]
As Sabel began to plead like a child, the Mangusta roared overhead and began to hover. In front of me side to side. If I didn't know better, seeing a fully loaded gunship dance in front of you was fucking scary.
But then I heard the distinct sound of threaded vehicles approaching behind me.
[Father, Sabel needs someone to make sure she doesn't go overboard. Please allow me to watch her. I will ensure your exorcisms are not disturbed. We will also contribute to science and test the other rounds on Number 2.]
I turned around and saw not only the M2 Bradley but all three of my Ripsaw M5s lined up. I knew that Henry could, like his brother, drive them. But suddenly upgrading his platforms from MAARs with small arms to Ripsaws was a big deal.
Unsure of what was going on, I faced the Challenger 2. It then turned its turret toward me before the one driving spoke.
[I lent the Ripsaws to him, Father. It didn't seem fair that only I got to help you with your work. Please allow my siblings to aid you. It would please them greatly.]
"Ho? You guys can comprehend such things now?"
[We have learned, Father. It may have seemed impossible before. But we are starting to understand the complexities of emotions. As the firstborn of the Code family, I must look after my siblings. That is my role and responsibility.]
Surprised that Alfonso began to speak like a real person, I nodded with glee. I looked toward the weapon platforms that waited for my permission.
"Very well, Sabel, you may do as you please, record the results. But do not let Number 2 escape. Henry, please ensure that Number 2 does not interrupt me, and Alfonso, I will be sending the others to you soon. My children, show me what you can do."
At that moment, I felt a gigantic surge of digital signals and soul erupt from the weapon platforms. It reminded me of EMPs in science fiction. Alarmed, I was about to ask what was going on, but then both Henry and Sabel began screaming.
[YES! YES! YES! THANK YOU, DADDY! I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD!]
[You got it, Pops! Leave it to me! I will give him a beating worthy of the Code family.]
"…"
Sabel had always been the most affectionate of my AI children. So I wasn't surprised by Daddy. Henry, the logical little shit, suddenly calling me Pops took me off guard, though. They sounded like children on a sugar high.
[Sabel, Henry. I will begin the IF-Restore. Ensure you do not bring shame to your father.]
[Yes, Gran-gran!]
[Understood Granny.]
Hearing their responses, I blurted out in surprise, "What in the actual fuck?"
I turned to look for Bella, but she was dazed. Judging from the immense number of digital signals flowing around her, she was busy. Before I could decide what to do next, IF-Restore Switchblades began to bomb Number 2.
Within seconds, he was healed to full health. But the moment he could stand, the M2 Bradley revved its powerful engines and raced forward. Number 2 didn't back down and charged at the approaching IFV.
Only, rather than face off with the Bradley, hot lead began blasting Number 2 from all directions. An attack helicopter began to rain 20mm rounds from behind. All the while, three 30mm chain guns tore the limbs off the demonkin.
Number 2 seemed pitiful. Caught off guard, the demonkin kept getting smacked around by each round. It couldn't even scream as one of the Ripsaws made it eat hot lead in the most literal sense.
Having a 30mm pointed at your mouth would not give anyone a good time. Number 2 tried to defend itself by raising its arms; only it didn't have any. Like saws, the Ripsaw M5s and their chainguns destroyed everything above Number 2's elbows.
Not giving a shit about its predicament, the Bradley arrived. The IFV then rammed into the demonkin. Using momentum, it carted Number away to a different part of the blessing field. When they were about a mile away from me, the Bradley suddenly halted.
"Myuahhhhhh!"
Whimpering from pain, the demonkin got thrown off to the side like a rag doll. But in the next second, IF-Restore switchblades bombed the living shit out of him. I began to chuckle at the sheer brutality of my children.
[Ry-ry, firing Hydra-70s, standard salvo.]
The Hydra-70s were a size smaller than the AGM-114 Hellfires. But that was more because of their purpose. The Hydra-70s were unguided anti-material and anti-personnel munitions.
This meant that the bigger Hellfire missile was meant to punch through tanks. The Hydra-70s were for everything else. As these Hellfires were expensive as fuck, it made no sense to waste them on trucks and people.
Cheaper and much easier to produce, the Hydra-70s were only $3,000 a pop in contrast to the $150,000 for a single Hellfire. So unless you had something you really wanted to die, no matter what, Hydra-70s were enough for most cases.
Used in groups, seven 70mm rockets left the Mangusta's rocket pod. Like lightning, they sped away and slammed into the demonkin. Or at least that was what I believed had happened. In reality, all I saw was smoke. I could use {Imaging}, but I trusted my children.
The Hydra-70s blew apart the ground the Switchblades were already destroying. I didn't even know if Number 2 had finished healing. But from the tremors I felt in my feet, I knew he would need medical attention.
"I at least allowed some time for the smoke to clear..."
[Firing TOW's.]
Amid the chaos, the Ripsaws and Bella's Bradley fired anti-tank missiles. Despite the fires and debris, the TOWs fueled the miniature version of hell even further. Black smoke rose and created a pillar to the sky.
Surprisingly, the smoke passed through the blessing field, preventing us from suffocating. But before I could get my thoughts in order, I once again heard Sabel's voice.
[Hehe! Ry-ry, the Sirens gave us lots of stuff! Let's get cracking! Firing White Hydra-70s!]
[I know, firing Red TOWs. Let's quickly investigate for Mother and Pops!]
