Chapter 307 - 296

She, Skye, must become the mistress of this manor.

Skye mentally encouraged herself.

The girl was full of ambition, but little did she know that her thoughts were completely noticed by Leon, whose passive yet domineering gaze revealed his awareness. Although his expression remained unchanged as he drove, there was something odd in his eyes.

Are all girls this bold nowadays?

Leon secretly mused. The future Quake he had in mind never seemed like this. Still, he didn't point it out—he actually admired such an ambitious girl.

She'd be great in the training department or something.

Having been raised in a cultivation-based system, Leon wasn't too familiar with this kind of ambition. But Skye? She was undoubtedly a high-potential recruit in the development field.

And to be honest... this girl is kind of endearing.

As he maneuvered the McLaren around the grand flower bed and pulled up in front of the manor, Veronica had already informed the staff of their arrival. The maids were waiting, and the housekeeper, dressed in a tuxedo with pristine white gloves, approached elegantly, opening the car door.

"Sir, would you like me to inform Mr. John to prepare lunch for you and this lady?"

"Stick to the usual menu—two servings," Leon replied casually.

"Very well, sir. I wish you and this lady a pleasant lunch."

The housekeeper bowed slightly, his voice calm and composed.

As Leon and Skye entered the mansion, Skye's gaze darted around in awe. The housekeeper snapped his fingers, signaling a maid to step forward, get into the McLaren, and drive it to the garage.

"Wow~~~"

Skye couldn't contain her amazement. The spacious hall, the extravagant dining room, the magnificent decor, the priceless crystal chandeliers adorning the ceiling, the luxurious carpets, and the marble floors polished to perfection—it was all breathtaking.

Even the furniture was spotless, meticulously arranged in a way that exuded sophistication and order.

This mansion completely shattered Skye's understanding of wealth and luxury. It was, without a doubt, one of the most perfect estates she had ever seen.

Everything from the modern, high-end ceilings to the smallest design details left her speechless.

Leon led her into the lobby and casually took off his coat. The maid following them promptly took his coat and Skye's backpack, placing them neatly at the entrance.

At the bar, a beautiful female bartender spotted them, bowed slightly, and asked softly, "Sir, Madam, what would you like to drink today?"

Leon snapped his fingers.

Seeing Skye's puzzled expression, he smirked slightly and took the lead.

"Two glasses of Blue Dream."

"Understood, sir."

Leon turned to Skye. "Let's go for a walk. This is your home now."

Then, looking at the bartender, he added, "Jennifer, mix the drinks and have them brought to the garden. We'll have dinner there later."

"Yes, sir," the bartender responded respectfully.

Leon took Skye on a tour of the mansion, focusing on the living quarters on the second and third floors.

The place was enormous—thirty-three guest rooms, each complete with a private balcony and bathroom.

Skye was overwhelmed.

Finally, Leon led her to a room on the third floor. Opening the door, they stepped into an elegantly furnished suite.

To the left was a window, and straight ahead stood a massive floor-to-ceiling glass panel offering a stunning view.

Leon turned to her. "This is your room. I'll have someone bring your clothes."

Skye was so overwhelmed she could barely speak.

Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined living in a billionaire's mansion. It felt unreal, like a dream she was afraid to wake up from.

"Do you really want me to stay here?" she asked hesitantly.

Leon nodded. "Mm-hmm."

"Awesome! I love you, Leon!"

Hearing his confirmation, Skye let out an excited cheer, unable to contain herself. She threw her arms around Leon in a tight hug—then, before he could react, she sneakily planted a kiss on his cheek.

Leon sighed, rubbing his forehead in exasperation.

Skye, completely unbothered by his reaction, just laughed. She let go of him and ran to the massive bed, bouncing onto it with unrestrained excitement. She rolled around, feeling the soft bedding, touching everything in sight as if trying to confirm it was all real.

After a while, her excitement settled. Sitting at the edge of the bed, she glanced at Leon, who was watching her with a gentle smile.

Then, unexpectedly, she fell silent.

"Leon..."

"Hmm?"

Leon sat beside her, turning his head to meet her suddenly subdued expression.

"I'm... a little confused," she admitted.

"I'm listening."

"I just can't believe that a girl like me—someone who's spent her life living in an RV worth only a few thousand dollars—would end up in a place like this."

Her voice was distant, almost as if she was speaking to herself.

"You feel out of place?" Leon asked, immediately understanding.

She nodded.

"You think you're not worthy of being here?"

She remained silent, but her expression answered for her.

Leon shook his head, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. When she turned to face him, he met her gaze and said firmly,

"You underestimate yourself."

He let the words sink in before continuing.

"Don't forget—both Magneto and the White Queen, two of the world's most powerful mutants, sought you out personally. They wanted you to join them."

"There's a potential inside you that even you can't imagine."

Skye's breath hitched as she processed his words.

Leon leaned back slightly. "To be honest, I saw it too—the moment I first met you."

"Back then, we were just strangers who met online. At best, we were friends. I had no intention of interfering with your life because I didn't know if you wanted to change it."

"But now... things are different. Magneto and the White Queen have marked you. And when people like them make a move, countless eyes are watching. freeweɓnøvel.com

"Like it or not, you've been exposed."

He paused for a moment, letting the weight of his words settle.

"For people like you, there are only two outcomes:

"If you're lucky, you'll be forced to join a powerful faction.

"If you're unlucky... you'll become a lab experiment, dissected on a cold table, with no way out."

Skye's heart clenched at his words.

"There were countless mutants before you, ones who didn't have a choice. They were nothing more than lambs led to the slaughter—dying in cruel experiments before being discarded like trash."

Leon's eyes softened as he finished,

"So, Skye... you're lucky."
