Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 17 - : Time Is Running Out
Chapter 17 - 17: Time Is Running Out
Time is running out for her. That woman might keep threatening her if she didn't keep her promise!
The 400 million is just to buy some time. There's no way I'm backing down now!
That woman is clearly targeting me and is well-prepared. I must investigate her and ensure she can't keep threatening me!
She gripped her phone tightly in her hand. So what if she spent 400 million? She would make that woman pay it back a thousand times over!
Once I'm done with her, she won't see another day!
Moreover, if everything went according to her plan, she would be on track to become a lady of the Wilson family.
She would have all the money she wanted!
That woman couldn't leave Easthan as long as Kate was watching.
Just then, Allen came to report, "There's news from the Wilson residence, Ms. Kate. They say Railer has gone missing."
"That brat Railer has gone missing again?" Kate's voice was full of excitement as she asked.
She raised an eyebrow and glanced at her mother.
Both of them were shocked!
This was perfect. It seemed even the heavens were helping her!
Kate had tried to reach Daniel many times since their visit to the cemetery, but he had been distant.
She'd been worried about how to fix the tension between them, but now the chance had finally come!
"Yes, according to our men, he's been gone for two or three hours. They searched the entire mansion, but he's nowhere to be found."
"How convenient for him to disappear on his own. It would be great news if that little brat never comes back! What about Daniel?"
"Mr. Wilson is said to have gone to a residence in Coastalview on his way back. It's unclear what he's doing there."
"Go find out. The Bentlys' lives are at stake. Everything is bound to work out for us!"
"Yes, Ms. Kate."
Kate made a quick decision, got ready, and left for the Wilson home.
She needed to take advantage of the situation while that brat was gone!
It was all because of that woman!
She couldn't afford to wait any longer!
She had to marry into the Wilson family as soon as possible to avoid the problems that would come with further delay.
She sat in the car for a while, waiting for word from her men at the mansion that Daniel would be back soon.
Once she knew Daniel was coming home, she grabbed an umbrella and got out of the car.
The rain was so heavy that the umbrella didn't help at all.
Kate was drenched the moment she stepped out of the car.
Her soft, long skirt quickly became soaked.
The rain hitting her face made her look pitiful.
"The rain is too heavy, Ms. Kate. Let me escort you inside!"

Allen quickly got out of the car without an umbrella, concerned for Kate's safety, who was standing in the rain.
But she gave him a cold stare.
Just as Kate reached the mansion's gate, Daniel's vehicle pulled up.
She turned around, stumbled, and fell to the ground.
The wind blew her umbrella, sending it away.
Kate looked terrible, and Daniel frowned when he saw her.
"Ashton, go help her."
Ashton quickly grabbed an umbrella and exited the car to help Kate.
Kate hadn't expected Daniel to ignore her and leave her drenched in the heavy downpour.
Instead of Daniel helping her, he had sent Ashton to lift her up!
Her eyes started to redden.
Kate felt resentful, but at least she had achieved her goal.
She held back her resentment as Ashton escorted her inside.
The car stopped near the porch, away from the storm.
Daniel got out of the car.
As soon as he stepped out, Kate rushed up to him, leaning against him. "You're finally home, Daniel. I heard that Rai was missing. I got worried..."
Rain soaked her face, and her red-rimmed eyes showed how anxious she was.
She reached for his hand, but he quickly pulled away.
He glanced at her. His eyes showed mixed emotions but soon softened with a touch of tenderness. "Tell Ms. Bently to change her clothes."
"No. Where is Rai? It's storming outside. I'm worried!"
Kate noticed the softness in Daniel's eyes. She saw it as a chance and felt excited.
She refused to leave him. Even though she was soaked from the rain, she wanted to put on a show for him.
"Do as I say!"
"Daniel..."
Kate wanted to say more, but he walked past her and went straight upstairs.
She wouldn't give up that easily. She lifted her wet skirt and followed him.
She hadn't even reached the second floor when she heard heavy footsteps coming down the hallway upstairs.
Then, a soft voice called out.
Kate felt her heart breaking!
"You're home, Daddy!" Kane ran to Daniel, arms wide open.
Daniel picked him up and held him in his arms.
"Yes, I'm home. Daddy's here. Don't be scared." Daniel hugged Kane and spoke to him gently, showing a rare kindness.
Half an hour ago, the butler had told Daniel that Railer was found shivering in the attic corner.
Daniel felt a strange pain inside him.
It hurt.
Railer had always been afraid of storms. He kept it to himself and hid in the attic to endure them.
He had finally spoken up, but his so-called father had come too late.
Kane could feel how gently Daniel held him in his arms.
He wrapped his small arms around Daniel's neck and rested his head on his shoulder.
He had been thinking of resting after dealing with his scumbag father, but when he looked up, he saw the soaked woman.
Kate's heart skipped a beat when she heard Railer's voice.
She quickly controlled her emotions and hurried upstairs.
"Rai? You... You're home? I was so worried!"
She looked emotional as she reached for his hand, but Kane snorted and pulled his hand away.
Kane was usually kinder to beautiful women, but he didn't want a wet, bad woman touching him, even if she looked good.
Kane instinctively pulled away, catching Daniel's attention.
Daniel stopped and looked at Kate, who was now shivering. "I'll take care of Rai. I'll have Ashton take you home."
"Please don't, Daniel. We just found Rai. Please let me stay with him tonight. I've always been there for him when it rained before. I was so worried about him!"
