My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 76
Chapter 76: Chapter 76
Maria, meanwhile, was all smiles—though Liam knew better. The way her eyes gleamed with mischief told him that she was enjoying this moment far more than she let on.
"Liam," Maria said, faking the warmest smile she could muster.
"I know how busy you must be with all the wedding preparations and everything, but I just couldn’t trust anyone else with this." She let out a soft, almost theatrical sigh.
"I mean, you know cars better than anyone else. I had to drag you out here, didn’t I?"
At that moment Liam narrowed his eyes at her, unimpressed. He wasn’t buying the act. "You didn’t have to drag me anywhere, Mrs Maria," he replied, his tone flat.
"You begged."
Maria gasped, feigning offense, and pressed a hand dramatically against her chest.
"Oh, come on, don’t make me sound desperate. I just wanted the best opinion. You’re practically family now."
At the mention of "family," Chloe shifted slightly, her expression unreadable.
At that moment Liam stole a glance at her, catching the slight twitch in her lips before she quickly masked it. He wasn’t sure what was going on in her mind, but something told him she had a lot to say.
Maria, still playing her role, sighed again.
"Anyway, since you’re already here, might as well make yourself useful, right?"
Liam let out another sigh, rubbing his temple. He should’ve known better than to come.
Liam let out a slow breath, his expression unreadable as Maria gave him an apologetic smile.
Even though she doesn’t have to beg, and look foolish in Front of Liam but having someone like him as son in law would be her best Achievements.
"I’m really sorry for dragging you here today, but I really need to get a car for myself. That’s why I called you," she said, tilting her head slightly, her voice laced with just enough innocence to make him sigh.
"I hope you don’t mind too much."
Liam gave a short nod. "No problem. What else would I be doing if not trying to assist my dear mother-in-law?" His tone carried a hint of sarcasm, but Maria only grinned.
"Good. I knew you wouldn’t let me down."
With that, they walked into the car dealership—Titan Auto Dealership. The moment they stepped inside, Maria’s eyes flickered with feigned surprise. She gasped lightly, as if something had just occurred to her.
"Oh my," she murmured, turning to Liam with an expression of faux curiosity. "Isn’t today the day?"
Liam arched a brow.
"The day for what?" He already knew where this was going, but he played along.
Maria crossed her arms, tilting her head playfully.
"The day you were supposed to present Chloe’s car."
At the mention of Chloe’s name, Liam’s gaze subtly shifted toward her again. She had been silent since they walked in, seemingly uninterested in the conversation, but now he could feel the weight of her presence.
Maria continued, "I mean, Liam, you did promise, didn’t you? On your wedding day, you said you’d give Chloe a special car as a thank you for marrying you." She let out a small sigh. "It should’ve arrived by now. But here we are, and there’s still no sign of it."
At that moment Liam clenched his jaw slightly, but he didn’t respond immediately. Maria’s words weren’t wrong. He had made that promise. Even though the wedding hadn’t happened yet, it was inevitable. And yet, he had delayed giving Chloe the car.
Maria’s gaze narrowed ever so slightly.
"Even if the wedding hasn’t happened yet—which, of course, it will—why haven’t you given her the car, Liam?"
Liam inhaled deeply. He knew this wasn’t just about the car.
And he also knew that bringing him here today wasn’t just about Maria wanting a new ride.
Again Liam ran a hand through his hair, his tone even but firm.
"I understand that we haven’t gotten married yet. The car is a gift, and gifts should be given at the right time. I’ll present it to her once we’re officially married, as I promised."
Maria’s smile thinned slightly, and for the first time, Chloe’s expression darkened.
There was a moment of silence.
Maria, ever the composed one, simply exhaled.
"Oh, I see. So, because the wedding hasn’t happened yet, Chloe has to wait."
Liam gave a short nod. "That’s right."
Maria pressed her lips together, resisting the urge to say more, but Chloe wasn’t as composed.
Her fingers curled into small fists at her sides, her expression unreadable, but the tension in her posture spoke volumes.
She wasn’t happy.
The car was supposed to be hers today.
She had been waiting for this.
Yet now, Liam was acting as if it didn’t matter anymore. As if it was nothing.
Something inside her twisted with frustration.
It wasn’t about the car—it was about everything that had been happening lately.
It was about how distant he had been.
How things felt as if they were changing, and not in a good way.
And now, this?
At that moment she swallowed down the growing lump in her throat, but the anger in her eyes was impossible to hide.
Chloe took a deep breath, her voice calm but laced with unspoken frustration.
"Liam, even if we’re not married yet, aren’t we still getting married? Or is there something you’re not telling me?"
Immediately her eyes searched his, waiting—hoping—for reassurance.
However Liam remained silent, his jaw tightening as he looked away.
That silence cut deeper than any words could.
Chloe exhaled sharply, shaking her head.
"You promised me, Liam. You promised that today, you would give me the car. And now, all of a sudden, because we’re not married yet, you’re changing your mind? What changed?"
Liam’s fingers twitched at his sides, but still, he didn’t respond.
Maria and the dealership staff stood by awkwardly, sensing the growing tension.
The weight of Chloe’s words hung in the air.
The atmosphere was thick—uncomfortable.
And then, before anyone could say anything else, the door to the dealership swung open.
The sound of heels clicking against the polished floor echoed through the space.
immediately all heads turned.
Raymond and Valentina had just walked in.
