My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 82
Chapter 82: Chapter 82
Hearing what Maria just said.
The sales attendant hesitated, her lips pressing together in thought. Deep down, she couldn’t ignore the possibility that Maria and Chloe were right—maybe these two didn’t belong here. But at the same time, they had entered through the VIP entrance. That wasn’t something just anyone could do.
They had the card. That alone meant they had the capability to purchase high-end vehicles.
Still, the way Maria and Chloe carried themselves, the sheer force of their words, made her second-guess herself. Maybe these people weren’t actually wealthy but were simply playing a game, trying to keep up appearances.
At that moment Maria noticed the flicker of hesitation on the sales attendant’s face and smirked.
"If you had any common sense, you’d call security right now and have them escorted out," she scoffed, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"They’re just here to create a scene, to act like they’re something they’re not."
Then Chloe leaned in, lowering her voice but ensuring everyone could hear. "It’s pathetic, really. I mean, look at them. She’s hiding behind that fake face, and he—" she gestured toward Raymond, "—he’s just playing along, thinking he can stand where he doesn’t belong."
At that moment a few onlookers exchanged glances, some murmuring in agreement, while others merely watched in silence. The atmosphere was thick with judgment.
Liam, standing slightly apart from the commotion, remained silent. He wasn’t the type to engage in such petty behavior, but he also wasn’t about to defend Raymond.
Instead, his thoughts were a storm of confusion and unease.
’Why is Raymond so calm?’
No matter what was thrown at him—Maria’s insults, Chloe’s mockery, even the skeptical gaze of the sales attendant—he didn’t falter. His confidence was unshaken, as if none of this mattered.
Liam swallowed, his fists clenching. That confidence...it was starting to get to him.
At that moment Liam’s curiosity started burning deep, his thoughts restless.
He had to know—was Raymond bluffing, or did he truly have the capability to buy such an extravagant car? His gut told him that Raymond was nothing more than an insignificant nobody, but something about his unwavering composure made Liam uneasy.
The sales attendant led the group toward the special unit, her steps hesitant as if she, too, doubted this entire situation. The anticipation in the air was thick, like a taut string waiting to snap.
At that moment Maria leaned closer to Raymond, her voice dripping with mockery.
"What exactly are you trying to do here? Do you think this is a game?" She scoffed, shaking her head as if the answer were obvious. "You’re just embarrassing yourself at this point."
Chloe, standing beside her mother, sneered.
"Honestly, this is getting pathetic. Do you really think you can fool everyone here? We all know you can’t afford it, so why don’t you just admit it now instead of waiting to humiliate yourself later?"
Liam, arms crossed, let out a small chuckle.
"It doesn’t even matter," he said, his tone casual yet laced with amusement.
"Everyone here knows they won’t be able to buy the car. So, why stress? Just let them walk in there and humiliate themselves. In fact, that’d be better than trying to stop them."
Maria and Chloe exchanged glances, their lips curling into identical smirks. The idea of Raymond and Valentina publicly failing was far too entertaining to resist.
"Yes," Maria agreed, feigning a thoughtful expression.
"Let’s not stand in their way. Let them step inside, let them see the price tag, and when they can’t afford it... well, at least then the whole world will see them for what they truly are—frauds."
As they walked toward the special unit, Maria folded her arms with a smug expression.
"Actually," she mused, a glint of amusement in her eyes, "if they go in there and embarrass themselves, all the shame will be on Valentina and her useless husband—not me. So why stop them?" She turned to the sales attendant. "Fine. Take all of us there. Let’s see what they claim they can afford."
Raymond, unbothered by their mockery, gently placed his hand on Valentina’s waist as they walked. His voice was warm, smooth, and teasing.
"You know, sweetheart, I have a feeling this car will be perfect for you. Not just any car—something as beautiful as you are."
At that moment Valentina smiled shyly, feeling warmth rush to her cheeks.
Raymond always knew how to make her feel special, even in the midst of people trying to belittle her. She didn’t care what Maria or Chloe thought—Raymond’s words made her feel untouchable.
Then Raymond chuckled softly.
"Unlike some husbands, I don’t make empty promises. When I say I’ll get you something, I mean it." His voice lowered, deliberately laced with amusement.
"Not the kind of man who backs out at the last second with some excuse."
At that moment Liam’s steps faltered for just a second. His hands clenched at his sides, his jaw tightening. He didn’t need to ask who Raymond was talking about. The words hit him like a direct challenge, and he knew Raymond was taking a jab at him for delaying Chloe’s car purchase. His entire body burned with irritation, but he forced himself to remain composed.
Chloe, however, had no such restraint.
Immediately her face twisted in anger, her nails digging into her palms. She spun around, ready to unleash all the frustration and rage she had bottled up.
"You—"
But before she could speak, Maria grabbed her wrist, shaking her head subtly.
"Not yet," Maria whispered, her eyes flashing with warning. "Let them finish digging their own graves first."
Chloe clenched her fists, inhaling sharply through her nose. She had to calm down. She couldn’t let them win. She was convinced that Raymond and Valentina had planned this—just to provoke them, to make them lose their composure so they wouldn’t accomplish what they came here for. But she wasn’t going to fall for it. No, she would stay calm, let them have their moment, let them run their mouths with their ridiculous nonsense. Soon enough, she would have the last laugh.
She exhaled, loosening her grip and plastering a forced smile on her face.
"Let them talk," she whispered to herself. "Let them enjoy this moment while it lasts."
