Chapter 123: Breed

"It is out back, please follow me."

Silas led Bianca into a large warehouse in a separate building. Despite being fit to walk, she remained in Elian’s arms and traced her finger along his chest. The thoughts she seemed too ashamed to voice out resounded in his mind.

"Am I heavy?"

Of course not. You are as light as a feather.

"Do you find me annoying like Charlotte does?"

No. I could listen to you all day and never get tired.

Pleased with his answers, Bianca giggled innocently as they moved.

Silas made a small chuckle in passing, "If my grandfather could only see you now, Lady Winter, I am sure he would be thrilled. May you and Sir HSK live a fulfilled life of love and abundance."

"Thanks, Silas. By the way, are you and your family not fleeing? You should have heard, right? That this city has been abandoned by humanity?"

"Indeed, I have. But my family and I will not run away. I am a Dornevale. We live and die in this city, as my father did, and as his father before him. Besides, there is no reason to fret," Silas answered.

"What do you mean?"

Silas stopped just beyond a warehouse gate and brought his hands together.

"Lady Winter, in our line of work the only thing that has value is a man’s integrity. The walls of Crestfall will remember. Who left it in its darkest hour and who fought to keep it standing. And I am proud to know that which we have long waited for has finally come to pass."

Bianca’s smile deepened, "You hold the same wish as your grandfather, I take it?"

The Banker made a soft knowing smile but did not answer. He then moved to open the gate. He undid a heavy latch and pulled the warehouse doors open. Before gesturing inside with a bow.

"After you."

Elian walked into the darkness, as Silas began to seal the door behind them. Although there was no light, the Tyrant noticed the cavernous space he now stood in. Glowing green eyes filled the darkness—hundreds. Three pairs glowed orange.

"About time, you two. I was about to get bored waiting."

"Son-in-law, stop spoiling Bianca so much. Let her walk at least."

"Whisper and I secured the material, Elian. We have enough."

A trio of familiar voices greeted Elian.

Silas then opened the light and showed the white furry paradise that was inside. Hundreds of Snow Wolves were resting and looking at Bianca and Elian with curiosity. They were lined up in aisles of blue-colored walls that separated them like rooms.

Leading the white-haired beasts were the three Snow Wolf Alphas made of metal.

Bianca’s grip on Elian’s neck tightened as she was filled with joy.

"Well done, Silas. I didn’t think it was possible. But well done. Take another billion as a bonus," she praised.

"I am honored." He replied respectfully; he then took a folder with Whiteline documents and handed it to Bianca. "I only was able to find less than ten percent of them. There are far more Snow Wolves shipped to the other cities."

"How many did you recover?"

"Two hundred fifty-three."

Bianca raised her eyebrows as she commented, "Honestly, more than I was expecting. And about the other items?"

Silas moved to one of the walls and pulled what looked like a blue sheet of plastic. Underneath it was a pallet of metal bars that were reddish-brown.

Is that copper?

"It is. And I have that and so much more," Bianca boasted smugly.

"As instructed, there are more than fifty pallets of each metal you have specified, Lady Winter. Along with explosives and various munitions. For the radioactive materials, I regret to say I couldn’t get to them on time."

Elian’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked closer. The blue walls were made of stacked, tarp-covered pallets! There were practically thousands!

"I have also secured various plots of land within the city under shell companies. All the makings of a good revolution," the Dornevale let slip.

"Fufu, Silas, stop," Bianca chided softly. "We haven’t finalized anything yet."

Growing curious, Elian tilted his head and asked, "Finalized what?"

Bianca sighed but explained, nonetheless, "The Dornevale are quite mischievous. Walter was practically grooming me decades ago to stage a coup for Crestfall City. They have long seen the corruption of the human guilds."

"Oh? And you believe we will lead this revolution of yours, Silas?"

"Indeed, Sir HSK. I have seen men like you. The fates of those ruffians were set the moment you knew that they laid hands on Lady Winter in the past. The sudden announcements from the fourth faction all but ensure our wishes," Silas declared smugly.

"Hmm. And what if I choose to run?"

"I doubt it. Sir HSK. Only the most insane and stubborn fools have the mettle necessary to be a candidate. And considering the hell you raised in the short time since you entered, I am certain the reign of the three pretenders is over. Our long-awaited ruler has finally arrived."

Amused at his words, Bianca allowed him to enjoy his moment before sending him away. When Silas left, Elian couldn’t help but ask Bianca.

"Should we recruit him?"

"Definitely. There was a saying in my time. If you need a shield, find a Dornevale, a Valcourne for a scepter, and you go to a Mirethaine for a nightmare. Dornevales are one of three strongest noble houses in the Ascendancy."

"That sounds quite impressive." Elian then looked around the warehouse, "In the future, the name Valestra would be on that list."

"Oh, and what would it be known for?"

Elian smirked and pulled out a onyx greatsword, "What else? For Weapons," the golem chuckled.

"Again I say this with all the love I can muster. Will you two platonic shellfish stop flirting all the time?" Fluffy growled in complaint, "Either find a meadow and make babies or shut up in silence! Only one or the other."

Elian and Bianca did not feel like rebutting in anger. Rather, both of them had the same thought.

"Elian, doesn’t she remind you of Char?"

"She does. She must be cranky that Burny is away."

They both ended up laughing at the thought.

"Grrr. These two are really a pain in the behind. Mom! Dad! Do something!"

Elian and Bianca tried to regain their composure but couldn’t stop giggling at Fluffy’s expense.

"We should definitely introduce them. Although Ned might hold a grudge."

"Didn’t you command Burny to seduce her daily? Does he report you the results?"

"STOP IT ALREADY, YOU TWO!"

When Elian and Bianca finally settled in, Bianca used her mana to speak to all the Snow Wolves. She gestured to her right side as she began.

"As my family has discussed with you all. If you wish to grow stronger, step to my right. You will shed your weakness and become Weapons like Unyielding Bastion, Frozen Silent Star, and Whisper of Hope."

Then she raised her left hand.

"Everyone else, please head to my left; you will not be forced to turn to Weapons. We will protect you until our Tyrant assaults Fralhame or they assault Earth. Please use this time to decide."

The Snow Wolves were tiny compared to the Weapons. But they were still imposing when compared to your average human. Like sheep, the wolves separated. Initially, there were far more coming to the left.

That was until... one of the wolves raised its tail.

"Yes? What is your question, little one?"

"Can we still kill humans after becoming a Weapon?"

At the innocent question, Silence fell. Bianca didn’t flinch.

"Not all of them, but we will be hunting a lot of them. Enough that you would get a pack of them all to yourself."

In that instant, every wolf on the left side moved right. Fluffy, who saw the sudden reversal, laughed in glee, "I can’t wait to unleash these bastards on the human guilds."

Bianca counted, "Alright. Everyone wants to weaponize. Then let’s get to it."

Elian came forward and declared in a loud voice, "I was told that the three here already showed you how their bodies differ. Please line up to the fighting style you prefer: Armor for Bastion, Speed for Silent. And utility for Whisper."

The wolves then lined up behind the three prototypes. When everyone made their choice, Elian nodded and created a metal appendage on his back for each wolf.

"Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Fluffy. Please start euthanizing your groups. I will walk you through the process of Overhaul. Bianca will support their souls."

"Eh? You aren’t making them all?" Fluffy asked in confusion.

Elian shook his head, "No. In the future, each leader must learn how to create more Weapons. This is how we breed. We will put this to the test tomorrow."

"What do you mean, son-in-law?"

"We lack the numbers to defend the entire city. For tomorrow’s battle, we will Weaponize the enemy as we kill them. That is the only way we will win in a war of numbers."

Bastion frowned, his voice sounding conflicted as he asked, "Elian, you will do so against their will?"

"They should be glad I even gave them the chance to serve me. If they wish to die after the battle, then I will just recycle them," the tyrant answered without skipping a beat.

Almost every sentient being in the warehouse felt a chill crawl up its spine.

Only two people had the guts to speak in the face of such tyranny.

"Darling, the stuff you say sometimes..."

"Is absolutely bonkers you cruel deranged metallic duck!"
