Chapter 359: Ring

With the flashlights, they soon discovered the wig shop mentioned by Song Jianyou. The shop was located in a secluded corner. The shop was in a mess. The wooden chairs were toppled over. Broken glass could be found near the wall. Several large mirrors hung on the wall. Some were cracked. When the light flashed past them, a few reflections could be seen in the mirrors. The cracks on the mirrors were like blades, cutting the reflections into pieces.

“Don’t aim the light at the mirrors,” Wan Xiaoning warned. The light moved away from the mirrors. The group soon found a door at the back. Banana Wolf walked forward and pushed it open. The axle creaked noisily. The door hadn’t been used in a long time.

However, as the door opened, without Hua Luo’s reminder, the two’s faces dropped. They caught a thick scent of blood. The room was foggy. The light appeared to be suppressed there. It could only pierce through two to three metres.

“What do you see?” Hua Luo asked Wan Xiaoning, placing all the hope on her.

Wan Xiaoning shook her head. “No. I can’t see anything. It’s this strange mist. It’s not a simple darkness.”

“What should we do?” Hua Luo frowned, “Should we come back later when we have more people?”

“Who would come with us?” Banana Wolf asked.

“Those people from Building One,” Hua Luo said confidently, “This long-haired ghost should be the one who assaulted Chu Jiu.”

“I know that, but I mean… Are you sure they’ll believe us?” Banana Wolf pressed his lips, “I worry they’d suspect that we’re falsifying this information to make them test the trap for us.”

“Then, what do you think we should do?” Hua Luo shrugged.

“I don’t think we should go back,” Wan Xiaoning analysed, “From the looks of things, something terrible already happened to Yu Lan. In my previous missions, it was extremely rare for the ghost to attack two people consecutively. As long as we’re careful, we should be safe.” Her voice was calming. She was being logical.

“I agree.” Banana Wolf took back his blade from Wan Xiaoning. He walked forward, “Stay close to me.” Banana Wolf led the way. Hua Luo nodded at Wan Xiaoning. “You’ll be in the middle. I’ll walk behind you.”

Wan Xiaoning was surprised. Her eyes scanned Hua Luo’s face. Her impression of this man, who looked prettier than a woman, improved.

“Be careful,” Wan Xiaoning reminded him. Hua Luo nodded.

The three entered the storage. The place was covered in a strange mist. The visibility was low. Human head models sat on the shelves. They wore different kinds of wigs. It was right out of a horror flick.

Hua Luo shone his flashlight on the human heads. For a moment, he felt like the heads were moving. They were winking or smiling when the light moved away from them. He took a deep breath and held the fleshlight tighter.

Suddenly, Banana Wolf paused. Then…

“Did you hear that?” Banana Wolf asked without turning around.

Wan Xiaoning and Hua Luo held their breath. Then, the three of them turned their heads towards the same direction simultaneously. They heard it… It was the sound of dripping water.

DRIP

DRIP

It was not far. The storage was small. Different from Banana Wolf and Wan Xiaoning who had their attention trained forward, Hua Luo paid more attention to the back. He would turn around every few steps. He’d continue when he discovered nothing was wrong.

Unlike the cruel ghosts in the films, most of the ghosts in the missions were cunning and mysterious. They’d appear at places you’d never anticipate. Then, they’d harvest your lives when you least expected. This sound… might be a trap. However, they were not given other choices. They were trapped in the room. The door they used… had disappeared.

Finally, they approached the source of the sound. It was between two shelves. The fog there was exceptionally thick. Their flashlights appeared to be dying because the visibility had become less than a meter.

Banana Wolf’s legs froze. He lowered his head. A slick feeling came from his feet. He stepped on some kind of liquid. He slowly bent down… until a flash of red entered his eyes. There was a large pool of blood on the ground.

At the same time, there was a light tap on his shoulder. Liquid splattered onto his face. It was a bit warm.

The next second, he jumped up and retreated. He swayed his flashlight up.

The mist receded. The scene above their heads caused the three to suck in cold breaths. A giant spherical object covered in hair was suspended in the air. It looked like a giant cocoon. Fresh blood leaked out of the gap and fell into the pool, causing the dripping sound.

The scary thing was the cocoon seemed to have sensed something. It started to wiggle. Then, with the three watching, a corpse was spat out. It landed on the ground with a thud.

The corpse was severely dehydrated. It sounded like a large dry block of wood falling to the ground. It was undeniable that the victim was Yu Lan, but one couldn’t tell from the face. Plus, her clothes were gone. Only the pair of white leather shoes remained. The hair sucked her blood dry like the blood-sucking vine.

Her face was unrecognisable. Dry skin stuck to the bones. The cracked lips were wide open as if accusing her killer.

Her mouth, nose, eye sockets were stuffed with long hair. Two chicken claw-like hands were placed beside her mouth as if she were trying to yank the hair out of her mouth before she died.

The light shone on Yu Lan’s face. Her skin was as rough as bark. When Banana Wolf sighed, Wan Xiaoning frowned.

She walked forward. She didn’t dare to touch the hair directly. She wrapped her hand in her clothes and eased the hair out of Yu Lan’s mouth. Soon, a ring appeared in her palm.

The ring was wrapped in the hair. It didn’t belong to Yu Lan.

There were some words engraved on the inside.

Shen Wei… With a heart in the middle.
